  • Here is one training method for developing strength endurance in sprinters and jumpers. Popularized by legendary sprint coach Tony Wells, strength endurance in the form of extensive plyometrics can be very useful in improving one's ability to produce force and power when fatigued.

Charlie Francis did high knees for 100m and more with his sprinters at the end of workouts, good stuff

Thanks! You have reinvigorated my drive to sprint and become more explosive again. Great, clear content. Please keep it up!

Thank you Claud! That is very generous of you. One of my major goals with this channel is to get more people into or back into sprinting. Even if it is just for personal growth and fitness, sprinting is an awesome way to stay healthy, be more athletic, and have something to work on. Really glad to hear you're feeling motivated!!

Hey Cody, just building back into sprinting. Which are most relevant for acceleration, vs max speed
    uphill sprints
    downhill sprints
    3-6 rep strength lifting
    3-6 rep olympic lifting
plyo's and force absorbtion i.e. depth drops
    technique drills and run-throughs
any reply would be greatly appreciated, cheers

    Hey Cody,
I did a block of sprinting in my preseason as a rugby player and got a lot faster. However due to the lactic acid build up in my legs and the demands of the sport, the speed had barely any transfer.
I think focusing on speed endurance is necessary, do you think this would help for rugby and make the legs more fatigue resistant?

I would suggest keeping reps under 8 seconds so you don’t go lactic. Best way to teach fast twitch fibers to have endurance is high volume repeats like 12-20 x 7s with 2-4 mins recovery using creatine phosphate system.

Great information as always! Quick question, do you do recovery weeks? As in cut volume to rest up? And if so would you do them in a specific time period (like doing one every 4 weeks of training) or whenever you feel like your body needs one?

I have always wondered, but why don't you have low heel recovery in your starts?

Can I do these in drills session?
I do max v and lifting on Sam day and drills the next day

I happen to be a former athlete of Tony’s from age 7-18. You mind me asking where you’re getting this info?
