  • In this video I install the Pacbrake Oil Filter Relocation Kit on my 2020 Ram Rebel. This kit allows you to move the oil filter away from over the CV/steering shaft to just behind the front side of chassis on the passenger side.
    You can purchase the kit here: pacbrake.com/HP10363?Affiliat...
    The kit is very straight forward to install and the machined parts feel robust. The fittings take some time to get the right angle but once installed the kit works and looks great.
    Any other questions let me know! Be on the look out, I have some fun videos on deck for the truck.

    I made an upgrade to this kit and Packbrake was gracious enough to provide me with the fittings I replaced the 90 degree fittings with 45 degree nipples on both for best oil flow I was told 90 degree fittings will greatly reduce oil flow.

    I took it 1 step further and added a Hubb oil filter then went to an aluminum welder and had him weld in an Aluminum 1/8" alum weld bung for a 1/8" magnetic drain plug why? To make it easier when you remove the oil filter there is oil in the hoses and block that need to drain as well having the drain plug eliminates more mess to deal with and hot oil all over your hands while it's draining I have a second filter filled and ready to screw on. Another advantage I noticed by accident with the Hubb Filter for 5.7 Etorque is, for example, your braking slowing down for a traffic light then the light turns green when you hit the gas there is a jerky action from the trans looking for the right gear to be in, now with the 55 gallons per minute flow and I assume back oil pressure the trans knows what gear to be in for a smooth transition for acceleration its always in the correct gear now instead of being 1 or 2 gears too low or 1 gear to high I also noticed when slowing down for a turn when I come out of the turn and accelerate I'm in the correct gear making for a smoother ride no clanking under these driving situations I'm not an engineer or mechanic it's just a nice side effect of this combination. FYI I posted photos on Facebook and a mechanic said you should have 45-degree fittings on the filter housing to reduce more restriction of oil flow. I contacted Pacbreak and they were very helpful and sent me two 45-degree fittings customer service is great. Pacbrake 5-star👍Great video

    Mine started to leak a little bit after 3-4 years installed. I have seen nothing in my driveway and just a small drop on the housing itself, maybe it's only leaking under pressure when engine is running.
    Looks like it's coming from the big seal (blue part that replaced old filter). Hopefully I can retighten everything and it'll be ok. I refuse to go back to OEM filter location changes.

    Will this void warranty?

    • @WaterFowler41
      @WaterFowler41  Před 5 měsíci +1

      If any aftermarket part is the root cause of a failure that you are attempting to use your warranty to cover, then yes some parts MAY impact your ability to have the manufacturer cover repairs.
      Two things:
      1. If installed properly, this part has nothing but upside for benefits and will not cause any issues.
      2. Warranty's are not an all or nothing thing. Meaning, if you have a lift it on your truck but your headlight fails, the manufacturer cannot decline covering the headlight repair since it has nothing to do with the lift. They manufacturer needs to be able to show that the aftermarket part, some how caused the failure.

    • @davejenkins7735
      @davejenkins7735 Před 3 měsíci

      Yes, any mod you do to engine will. Manufacture only needs one excuse to get out of replacing a 15,000+$ engine. Besides filter oil change is easy enough if done right.

    • @WaterFowler41
      @WaterFowler41  Před 3 měsíci +1

      @davejenkins7735 life’s too short to live in fear of warranty coverage. Install the relo kit properly and you’ll have nothing to worry about other than what you’ll do with all the spare time you have because your not cleaning up all the oil that spilled all over the cv and steering box.

    Good set of how to's. I wanted to as you, to relocate the stoopid idiot engineering location of the OEM oil filter. Pacbrake was not available for me when I began to relocate my setup. I opted for the usual kits that were out there the past two yrs. First setup was totally useless, the Derale kits, rubber lines on aluminum fittings with a hose clamp, really? Even though cruising speed for my 1500 at about 75-80 mph, oil PSI was 53-55. The damn hoses still leaked. Kicked that to the curb, the next one, had actual custom oil lines made, very similar to the Pacbrake lines, found another setup thru Summit racing, seemed to be better engineering components, same problem, oil leaked pas the elbow fittings. My intentions were good, at first, I was able to fit a bigger filter as well, thinking more oil to filter etc. I haul a race trailer, I usually chge the filter out between the usual chgs, its cheap, and of course easy to get too. Now that Pacbrake is available, gonna get one thxs
