    Sounds like you had a non return type filter which is designed to prevent the filter draining back to the sump, they have a rubber flap valve on the inlet side of the filter.
    If you had used an open type filter you may never have realised until someone fits a non return type filter.
    Even open type filters have a bypass inside so running them backwards basically bypasses the filter anyway so no filtering is actually happening.😢

    It’s just like wiring 2 -12 volt batteries in series to run a 24 volt motor. You take the negative from the motor and connect it to the negative on battery 1. you then take the positive from battery 1 and connect it to the negative on battery 2 with a jumper wire , then you connect the positive from battery 2 to the positive wire to the motor !!! Amps going in one side of the battery and coming out of the other side of the battery. Positive/ negative/positive / negative. Just like your remote oil filter housing Out of motor to the in of the oil filter housing and out of the oil filter housing to the in of your motor. !!!

Awesome and big props for coming out with it and the many whom may have thought that way you saved massive time and $$!
    One similar style of mistake i did early on was putting on brake calipers which are symmetrical looking and can go either way with the bleeder down , thinking ok bleed down right? haha I was so boggled trying to bleed them basically flushed my fluid un planned 😂 trying to bleed my brakes and couldn’t get the pedal to stay solid! Before realizing , air naturally tries to go up! Swapped them bleeder up and bam! Bled brakes in 2 minutes.

    phew...... not started it yet. but did it right... welll I will recheck. I tend to look at things "conceptually" so I just assumed oil flowed
    - OUT of engine
    . INto remote filter housing
    . OUT of filter housing -
    . INto thermostat/cooler
    . OUT cooler
    . INto thermostat
    . OUT of thermostat and back INto the engine.
    The path you describe as the correct one.....
    AKA the products are written NOT to be labels you match.... but to denote "direction of flow"

  • @TeodorD
    @TeodorD Před 10 měsíci +1

    There is even a easier way to check if that is true or not .... oil usually goes out of the motor through the sides and back in through the middle of the filter. You can check where those locations corespond on the adapter that you put on the motor and the adapter on the filter .... if they "align" so to speak you're good.

  • @josephsaid756
    @josephsaid756 Před 7 měsíci +1

    How can there be a mix up? Motor oil pump is pumping dirty oil OUT of the block to get IN the filter. Once the oil is filtered it is pushed OUT of the filter and back IN the engine. ? or i am missing something?

    • @ThePaintPaperHustle
      @ThePaintPaperHustle Před 7 měsíci

      I agree 100% with you and that’s how I thought. I was told that there’s a check ball inside the filter housing I think or something that only allows oil to flow one way. All I can say is I promise $10,000 later I can confirm it doesn’t flow both ways. When Kevin found issue the oil pan wasn’t hot after a few minutes on dyno. Then after changing lines around it got hot from oil flowing though.

    It seems so simple, but this video really is a public service: Out from the motor, In to the filter, Out from the filter and... back In to the motor. Always. Your pressure sensor was reading pump output on original hookup, which made the system blind: no idea what the motor was actually getting for oil pressure.
