    It's unfortunate that I even have to make this comment, but I absolutely do not tolerate hateful/homophobic/sexist/transphobic comments on my videos. If you feel the need to be a giant asshole then you will be getting your comment deleted and swiftly blocked from ever engaging with my channel again. If you didn't enjoy the game, then that is fine, but this is not the place for you to come in and make others who DID enjoy it feel bad about that. If you cannot talk about things civilly then please move on. Don't be a dick. I have quite literally zero patience for it.

    I felt so heartbroken when you realize Ellie can't let go, that she was so tormented by her thoughts and memories she could not stay with Dina and JJ. Not because she didn't love them, but that she never really came back home.

      @@ItsB0NK Yes true. 'If I ever were to lose you, I would surely lose myself'. She lost Joel and ended up losing herself. But not entirely. By letting Abby go and simultaneously forgiving Joel, she was able to maintain some of her humanity. The last shot of her leaving the guitar behind which has the moth on it is symbolic. She's moving towards the light (happiness) as a moth does and she was able to make peace with her loss (Joel's death). I thinks she's going to Jackson to win back Dina and JJ.
      This games story wasn't as tight as the first game and there are certain flaws. It's by no means a perfect game storywise but what they got right clear a d heavily outweighs the weak bits. I genuinely believe they did justice to the first game. Where the first game ended with hope on top and misery underneath, this game ends with misery on top but hope underneath as nothing can hold Ellie back from achieving happiness except herself.

      Actually, she came only came back to get her guitar. But chose to leave it cuz it reminds her of joel. She chose to leave it there and let go of her thoughts. And when the camera closed in on her hands, shes wearing the bracelet dina gave her which wasnt there before she left to get revenge that day. There was a letter at the barn telling "if they feel like going back to jackson feel free." It was a sign she met dina and jj again.

      I know her not being able to play the guitar anymore kinda got mensad and upset at the lenght she went in for that quest of revenge.
      When playing the game there were a couple of times I wished she would havsle stoped just to have less collateral damage before going back ti Jackson. Damn I really cared for Dina and them nkt being tigether at the end got me super sad too.
      I just hopenshe can relearn how to play the guitar but now being a right handed playing instead of a left handed player as she started like. Just sonshebstill has one thing to commemorate Joel in a way she can get over it and accept it as it is. Cause there isnprobably nothing thatvl she can do that she can change the past.
      Man this game seriously broke me 2 weeks days for days after the game came out. When I was rewatching certain key scenes I'd still cry over those as I had such a fresh wound still open. Man I've manage to kinda nkt break into tears again.
      But man I'll have to wait untio Inget tonpkay it again with my sister and her fiance. Cause man that'll definitely break me down into tears for sure l know it.
      That game really was a master piece to me l. It really has manage to make me go through a shit tone of emotion in one story just within that one game. Inactually went nearly in all the spectrumnof emotion I could have went through I think. God that was such a good game.
      Especially since this was the only game I'd play this year probably as I don't even own the console I got to play the game. That really was one of a kind to get the chance to experience it.
      Saddly didn't manage to get the chance to play the first game as I've watch it online simply cause I didn't owned a Playstation. With The Last of Us Part II I really got lucky to get to experience it. I actually had to pause the game to take a break atbsome part simple because it was too much for me.
      That game literally managed to break the 4th wall as they got me to mourn Joel for real actually. I guess that's what was to much for some people to accept what happened and somehow got some of then to deny what happened cause it was just too much to handle I guess...

      By letting Abby go, and letting Lev have his own "Joel" in the form of Abby, she did something that would eventually lead to her healing, something revenge would never have given her. (Abby does not heal after killing Joel. Her nightmares and restless sleep continue. It was only after she forms aa bond with Lev and Yara and chooses to protect them does she have her first peaceful sleep in a long time).

      Plus Lev was probably one of the coolest characters ever cause with out him the game would have surely ended up being unsatisfying for Abby to kill Dina and Ellie at the theater. The conclusion these characters was super well done as it got us conflicted over theirbpast action and questioning their lresent choice as they were gonna bring their own lost for the quest thatvwas consuming both Abby and Ellie in different ways. I pity the people who can’t appreciate a story with actual consequences. The story transpired the way it did because humans do these things. I know for a FACT that if I was forced to watch my sister be bludgeoned to death in front of me by a group of strangers I would drop everything in my life to find them and see them die screaming, regardless of their motivations. I simply would not care. It’s a form of suicide. For people with depression, sometimes when they see the only way to escape as being death, they will take it. If the only way to escape the image of my sister crying, screaming, her face falling apart in front of me, was to scrape myself hollow and abandon everything, then I most certainly would. It isn’t about “revenge bad” it’s about understanding that people who do shitty things sometimes do them because they feel they have no other choice. It’s about empathising, and understanding when people can’t forgive and forget. It’s about appreciating the awesome power (if you’ll forgive the cliche) of love, and appreciating what you have. There’s so much to take away from this. I seriously do not know why people didn’t like it.

      Yes. To me this game isn't about revenge, it's about dealing with trauma and finding inner peace, and people will absolutely do ANYTHING for that peace inside. First she was on the verge of being at peace with her past and ready to move on and Abby took it from her. She's angry at herself for not being able to forgive Joel and mend their relationship before Joel dies. So she believes the only way to find peace again is to kill Abby. Later in the farm, she literally cannot eat or sleep, she pursues Abby more for herself to have an end to it all than for avenging Joel. Ultimately, people react to trauma differently and extremely. But mostly they do what they do to fix themselves, however unfortunate and misguided those actions are.

    "This game broke me, and I loved every second of it." I couldn't agree more. The Last of Us Part 2 has been everything I hoped for and more. Despite spoiling the fact of Joel's death through the leaks, I still cried, screamed, and felt shock, pain and anguish at the scene, and seeing Ellie descend into this journey of revenge was equal parts satisfying and sickening to behold. Abby's backstory sequence was an interesting direction, but was as heartwarming as it was brutal to think about given your actions earlier as Ellie. The ending left me satisfied despite Ellie not pulling through with her quest for vengeance, for once showing mercy, to crescendo her moral growth throughout the story. Bravo you for creating this perfect video, and bravo Naughty Dog for creating this beautifully perfect yet harrowing sequel.

      @AngelusHale Před 3 lety +7

      @Camilo Francesco CASTILLO VERCELLI The story was so clever, so smartly put together and very disturbing and unsettling. I've been a fan of the Last of Us since the first one came out and what the writers did was one hell of mindfuck.
      They kill a character we love, making us hate Abby. I wanted that bitch to suffer and die, and then we see Abby her point of view and we realise that in fact Joel is the bad guy in this story, even Ellie is the bad guy. What Abby did was in no way different than what Ellie did. At least Abby only went after Joel. Ellie killed all of Abby her friends.
      Like I said, this was a mindfuck. If you think this story was horrible, than that is because you're letting yourself be clouded by your emotions. And I get that. I truly do. We're supposed to hate what happened.

    • @cbuca

      @Camilo Francesco CASTILLO VERCELLI you're welcome to dislike the story, but don't blame the writing just because it didn't appeal to you. It's incredibly well written and, in my opinion, an even better story than the first one. I was very vocal against it when I heard Naughty dog was making a sequel, since I thought the first one was just perfect as it was, but now I'm just glad they did and hoping they'll even make another game in this franchise.

      @Camilo Francesco CASTILLO VERCELLI
      1- It's called Character Development, it means when changes occur to a character through circumstances in the game, it hapoens when characters change. In the beginning of the first game, Joel did not like Ellie and did not want to deliver her to the fireflies, but at the end of the first game, he began to love Ellie as if she were his own daughter. Does that mean that the story was badly written? No! It only shows that humans can change. The same thing happened in part 2. This is 5 years later, Joel is now part of an organized town, he is no more on the run and hiding amongst building away from bad people, he now has his own house and his brother, and brothers wife to care for him in a beautiful town, of course he is going to go through character change and not be suspicious of everybody, all the time unlike when he was passing through all those bad places in part 1.
      2- In the game, we are told that Jackson regularly recruits people to join them and expand the Town's population, they also trade with outsiders for valuable stuff like the coffee Joel is seen drinking in one of the flashbacks. Infact by the time Joel and Tommy meets Abby's team, Tommy is already trying to recruit them to join Jackson, they are young men and women, they can help with farming, hunting and defending the town seeing as Joel, Tommy and Maria are already getting old. This has nothing to do with bad writing, they recruit people regularly, unfortunately this time, it was a group of people who were looking to kill Joel. They also just survived a horde of infected in heavy snow. What was Joel supposed to do? Go back outside and get killed by the infected?
      3- Joel is not so clever, he is a survivor but there are many times he would have died even in part 1. a- outside the quarantine zone when that soldier catches him and Tess with Ellie, if Ellie had not stabbed the soldier on the leg, they would have definitely been killed. b- in that restaurant after the hotel basement where he was ambushed by that bad guy and was almost drowned in a puddle of water, if Ellie had not picked up the gun and shot the bad guy, he would have drowned. c- when he fell on that sharp bar and was bleeding out, if Ellie had not found antibiotics, and fed him through the winter, he would have died. You all are making him to be some kind of terminator when there is literal proof that he almost died many times in part one if not for plot armour.
      4- The story is about forgiveness. Ellie was on bad relations with Joel. Abby killed Joel before Ellie could patch her relationship with him. Ellie became like a drug addict and her drug was revenge, she was angry at Joel but refuse to analyse why, instead using blind revenge to mask her anger and pain, by the time she gets to Abby she fully realises why she feels the way she does and that killing Abby will never solve that. In that moment she forgives Joel in her heart and lets Abby go. Check thisis very short video. This guy did not also understand the story.

    Many people don't understand that this game is not made for you to like it. This game's purpose is to destroy you emotionally. To see how quickly lives can be destroyed in the world they live, to show us that there is no good people and evil people. Just survivors doing what they feel correct.
    It hurts so much to see that Ellie never could finally live a life in peace.
    They made us hate some decisions that Ellie made, they made us have that same inner rage that Ellie had against Abby.
    But at the same time, we still loved Ellie. No matter how many guiltless lives she took, no matter how much she continued to destroy what Abby loved, Ellie's cause still seemed just to us. And that's when we see the story from Abby's side. And most people denied that Abby had any reason to kill Joel or that it was fair. There was a mistake to my liking, playing half the game with Abby was somewhat difficult, since I could not get attached to her. But I respect her story very much and feel sorry for how much she suffered.
    In the last game, somehow we were very clear about who the so-called "good guys and bad guys" were. There were the infected on the one hand, and these guys who were dedicated to robbing other survivors.
    It's pretty clear, isn't it? They are the bad guys because they steal from people who are struggling to survive.
    And the good guys are obviously the characters that go with us throughout the entire game and the fireflies. It turns out that in the end they make us look like the bad guys, since they wanted to kill Ellie to get a vaccine.
    But here it is not clear. There are no good or evil. Only people trying to survive, people avenging those who were killed, everyone has their reasons for killing others.
    And well, at the end of the game the purpose was to leave us emotionally destroyed, feel empty and sad. See Ellie, a character we are very fond of, devastated.

I don’t know how many noticed it, but when she eventually goes back to her farm house at the end of the game, the most powerful thing in my eyes was when she tried to play the guitar, that last connection she had with Joel, gone, she can’t play how she would like, and it is heartbreaking to see that she has truly lost the last thing Joel gave to her.

They also pretend the story is nonsensical when in fact most of the gripes they have with the story not making sense _are_ explained through dialogues, writings or other plot devices. They were just either too biased to even attempt to notice the details, or they try to dismiss them as being "lazy writing".

      @@flecks_piano I actually agree with the first half of your comment. Many people and reviews I've heard of were filled with hate about the LGBTQ representation in TLOU2. For example, some argue that there is no time for Abby to be a trans but who's to deny _her_ right to having her own humanity and identity? She can be who she wants, and it doesn't impact with the plot significantly at all. Things like this were 'unexpected' for people sadly, and I don't condone transphobia or homophobia at all.
      As for the second half of your comment, some reviews (such as Skill Up) _are_ actually unbiased and digest the game's attempt to tell a realistic narrative. Many times, Ellie was saved because of plot armor which really downplayed the theme of oh so 'dangerous' consequences of vengeful actions. The game also let's a pregnant women fight in the frontlines which also does not make sense. I think that most people are mad, because they were expecting to find more substance or closure between Joel and Ellie, given that the first game did a fantastic job. I can't speak on behalf for those who dislike this game, but I'm sure they love the game's soundtrack, graphics, and new mechanics but the story--- underwhelming or even a disaster as some may say.

      This is one of my gripes with a whole lot of the criticism around the game, there's way too many people who just dismissed the game as being unredeemable trash all because they read the leaks, which only offered them a biased and skewed perception of what the game really is.
      I'm in no way saying the game has a perfect story, I just find these kind of complaints that you're talking about funny when they hate on the game and they can't even get the most basic of detail about it right.

    I feel the need to clarify this. She does not end up alone. When she arrives at the farm house after dealing with Abby, you can see her fingers are healed and taken care of. And if you pay attention she is wearing Dina's bracelet, which she didn't have when she left. Which means they are probably living in Jackson, I say this because Maria would always welcome them and you can find a letter from Jesse's parents aswell. Ellie went to her farm house to retrieve the guitar, but she left it behind, which is a symbol for accepting Joel's death and leaving the vengeance/hatred life behind her. I believe she returns to Jackson and continues to live with Dina and JJ. Dina has a big heart, she would definitly forgive Ellie.
    PS. Sorry for any grammar errors

    • @Nivramw
      @Nivramw Před 3 lety +8

      Sadly i didn't understand it that way, she did came back to Jackson (the fact that she's isn't carrying any weapons + the bracelet), but at the very last moment we can see that she's going through the gate into the forest : when we are at the farm with J.J. she says to him, about this gate, to not go this way, 'bad things are out there' .. so I kinda understood that she is not going back to Jackson, she is going somewhere else, to find a redemption maybe ... these are my thoughts about it ... But in my way, she did 'ending up alone', too broken to live as a 'normal' person ...

    so i finally got around to playing and finishing the game. and its just. a masterpiece. about trauma and love and revenge and i cannot stop thinking about it.
    and this. just takes that incredibly long story and compresses it under five minutes. the music choice? perfect. the ramping up as the song does? excellent.
    editing is amazing.
    taking ellie's line about her fears from the first game and tying it in at the end over her sitting in the ocean? so fucking good.
