    My head canon is that the old Santa was done with the job. He figured he’s done his time and it’s time to pass the reins (pun intended) to someone else.
    He chose Scott to be the next Santa. Had the elves keep tabs on him. And realized that Scott being Santa would benefit him especially with his relationship towards his son.

    The Mickey on the moon is not the only hidden Mickey in the movie. At the beginning of the movie, where Scott is reading the cook book, a hidden Mickey is made-up from white circles on a decorative plate resting on a shelf.

  • @RialVestro
    @RialVestro Před 2 lety +9

    Of all the Home Improvement references you missed the most obvious one... The first house Calvin and Charlie visit, Calvin puts on the suit for the first time and says "I hope whoever lives here is a TAILOR!" putting emphasis on the word which also is his character's last name in Home Improvement.
    Also Tim Taylor is not "clumsy with appliances" he's the host of a home improvement show who ironically is terrible at actually fixing anything. So Calvin Scott being a terrible cook is not even a Home Improvement reference. There was never anything in Home Improvement about Tim being a terrible cook.

    Ok, but why would an elf be at Denny's, before they knew that Scott would become the new Santa? And how could the teacher/fellow students not have noticed this (presumably) new kid with weird ears?

    A few of those elves appear in the movie BEFORE Santa even fell off Calvin's roof... does that mean that the previous Santa actually PLANNED for Calvin to become Santa Clause? Santa Clause 3 would have been a much better movie if we had gotten a scene with "Buddy" explaining to Calvin that it was no random accident but had actually been their plan the entire time. Would also explain Santa's subtle hand wave before he disappeared. I never liked the whole plot with Jack Frost and the time travel, and the scenes from the first movie poorly edited in... I mean Scott Calvin put un the suit for the first time on the roof... or an entirely different house... but Scott and Jack are some how watching from Scott's front yard barely hidden behind a snow man. Honestly past Scott and Charlie would have easily seen them the second they stepped outside the house. The escape Clause really should of been Scott actually meeting the previous Santa, finding out about the escape Clause he used in the first movie, all the stuff with his wife having a baby and the in-laws, that could have all stayed the same but that should of been the motivation for Scott to consider using the escape clause not because Jack Frost tricked him into time traveling.
