You definitely should dip into more Fast Show. There's so many great characters and sketches, that you can't go wrong.
Ain’t King Boomer brilliaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaant?
@@dannjp75 😂😂👍
I was very very drunk…
Definitely... personal opinion of course but Fast Show was the last genuinely great British sketch show
Poisonous monkeys.
I think Depps appreciated here as he just "gets" the British sense of humour (he's quite chummy with Ricky Gervais as well I believe)
Before you watch The Fast Show, I can't stress how important it is that you know that ''Chris Waddle'' is an English football player.
Voy en la playa. El mejor playa es Chris Waddle. Playa extraordianrio! Playa World Cup Playa! Gol? No. Pero Chris Waddle.
Voy en la playa. El mejor playa es Chris Waddle. Playa extraordianrio! Playa internacionale! Playa World Cup ninteen nonety! Gol? No. Por que es Chris Waddle. BIG HIT! CHIP KEEPER snoochy snoochy. Pero barrrr nooooo! Bueno. Butras butras Galli.
The idea of The Fast Show was, so its creators Paul Whitehouse and Charlie Higson have said, to create a show where only catchphrases and punchlines were used but it grew beyond that, although most of the sketches did only last for 30 seconds or so, some only for 10 seconds! The first series was not the strongest but was still hilarious and, by the second series, many, many characters were well-known, their catchphrases used on the street (like "Suit you, Sir"). Once you know they were using this new comedy format of (mostly) very quick sketches, it's worth watching a whole 25 minute episode some time - you'll get it and enjoy it!
Sounds perfect for CZcams shorts - ooh, Suits you Sir!
Fast Show was legendary, Johnny Depp was a huge fan and he called Paul Whitehouse the best actor in the world =) David Bowie was also a fan, he did a impression of one of Paul characters in a backstage video from one of his concerts.
Don't force it Tom, don't force it.
Paul Whitehouse's such a lovely man, he would only have good, people around him, imo. He came to Bob Mortimers aid after his heart surgery and introduced him to fly fishing which they now do a show together.
Mark Williams is the actor's name who played Mr Weasley in Harry Potter. Yes Mark & Paul do play the same characters in The Fast Show in different sketches and Mark did work with Harry Enfield in Harry Enfield Television Programme series.
Peterson!!!!!!
Jazz Club, Swiss Tony, Dave Angel: Eco Warrior, Rowley Birkin, Jesse's Diets, "Scorchio", Monkfish, "Brilliant", Ted and Ralph, Cheezy Peaz...The Fast Show was just awesome, a real highlight of the 90s for me.....
I think Johnny Depp is actually more comfortable in Europe than in the USA these days. We absolutely adore him here in the UK. ❤
5:03 Mark Williams and YES he's been in comedy for YEARS and was a major part of the Fast Show, I think he instigated it with Paul Whitehouse.
You definitely need to watch some more Fast Show, the whole point of it was that there were a collection of tiny sketches, if you didn't like that one then there'd be another right after it with different characters. I think my favourites were Jesse and Jazz Club
Jazz Club , Nice.
Jesse’s fashion tips and Jesse’s diet tips have made me the woman I am today
This week I will be mostly watching The Fast Show.
Swiss Tony on the fast show is gold.....The Jazz guy also.
He often visits Tim Burton who lives about 10 minutes away from me. They often pop to the local pub and are treated as normal people.
The Fast Show was fast-paced skits, that basically relied heavily upon the characters catchphrase for the skit. Back in the late 90's it was one of the hit comedy shows here in the UK.
Come on Ben...sort to yourself out!
Johnny Depp was a big fan of the fast show, particularly Suit You Sir skits and asked to be in it. Which is why he opens up by saying he is 'radiant' as that was one of the menswear gents catchphrases
J Depp, famiously said in the UK, Paul Whitehouse was the best character actor of all time. True ! That's why he asked to be in this sketch !
7:23 'right up my alley '
Oohh! Suits you Sir!
Each week was a series of different sketches with the same characters playing various outrageous scenes ,so hilariously of its time
Fast Show was the best thing on telly for a while :) It's lots of sketches with repeating characters
So much gold to find in the fast show! Lots of different sketches in each ep repeated across the series.
One of my favourite of the characters Paul plays in the Fast Show is Rowley Birkin 😂
The Boomers absolutely have to check out "Sir Rowley Birkin". In my opinion it's one of Paul Whitehouse's finest and funniest characters. It doesn't matter how many times I've seen those monologues they always make me laugh. There's a good video on YT of all the "Sir Rowley Birkin" sketches edited together. I'd love to see them react to that!
There's an episode of the Fast Show where Sir Rowley is reminiscing about the lost love of his life many years before. They broke up because of his alcoholism. In my opinion it's the finest bit of acting I've ever seen and it brought me straight to tears and still does every time I watch it again. I can understand why Johnny thinks that Paul is a great actor. The pathos and regret Paul managed to convey in a couple of short minutes was extraordinary. Even just thinking about that scene after having not watched it for years makes me incredibly emotional. One of my current favourite programmes is Mortimer and Whitehouse Go Fishing which is just so feel-good and life affirming. It's ostensibly about angling but in my view it's more a love story about two great mates who adore each other.
D'you know, I can no longer watch that bit of "Return of the Jedi" where C-3PO is telling the Ewoks the story of the Rebellion, with sound effects and everything, without adding "but I'm afraid I was very, very DRUNK." at the end of it.
The Fast Show was one of my favourite comedy shows. You have to get into it.
Pub drinking game! 🤪Oh and don't forget Fast Tony 🤣🤣🤣
Last episode of The Fast Show, Johnny Depp was a big fan and asked if he could appear. Rumoured more than 1 house in the UK.
One of my fav sketches of the show alongside other greats like John Thomson’s ’Jazz Club’, and Simon Day’s ‘Competitive Dad’, but there are so many more! Definitely worth watching the full shows and getting to know the characters and their catch phrases. The more you watch it, the funnier it gets.
“Smoooth and niiiice”
Jazz Club is one of my favourites
Competitive Dad was my favourite.
Omg yes, love the Fast Show. I remember reading an article back in the day that Johnny Depp always had Fast Show series dvd in his dressing room on movie sets
Johnny is an Anglophile he loves Britain and its comedy he requested to be in this as he loved the fast show
Great Reaction especially when your eyes nearly popped out at the end😀
The Fast Show is what is says on the box. Several quick shortish sketches in every show.
Loved when Johnny started saying.... Oooohh. 😁
Johnny Depp said he was a huge fan of The Fast Show, which is why he agreed to come on and do a sketch when asked.
Johnny Depp also described Paul Whitehouse as the greatest actor he's seen. Perhaps he meant as a character/comedy actor, but a hell a a compliment regardless.
They would play lots of different characters in The fast show, and the characters were recurring in all the episodes. It was a sketch show, and as such didn't have a story or anything.
It's a sketch show. Mark Williams was mainly known for sketch shows (and Harry Potter) but over the last 9-10 years has had the staring role of detective/vicar Father Brown set in the 1950's Cotswolds.
the other guy, mark williams is from my home town. he regularly comes back & goes to particular pub in the town. the most down to earth guy you`d ever wish to meet.
Yes KB, Johnny has indeed been seen quite a few times around our neck of the woods, in Suffolk..UK..
Harry Enfield had a show called harry Enfield and chums. Some of the cast from that show created the fast show. Both are sketch shows and well worth watching. Some of the best sketch shows ever made, and both very popular in the nineties.
Charlie Higson and Paul Whitehouse co-wrote a lot of Harry Enfield & Chums if I recall correctly.
SOOOOOOOOO many great sketches. I'd recommend any "Roy and Renee" clips (RIP Caroline Aherne) and one of my favs has to be Ted and Ralph - Drinking Game
The Fast Show was the best sketch comedy show ever an absolute classic.
This sketch is a all time classic , about time 🤣🤣 lots of Fast sketches with different characters
The actor who plays ron weasley's dad is called father brown. He used to be catholic priest back in the fifties.
Mark Williams plays a priest in a delightfully lighthearted TV show called Father Brown - basically like Father Dowling Mysteries but instead of 1990's Chicago it is set in 1950's England.
It gets its name from the idea that all the sketches will be short and quick but over the season they may tell a story. Johnny caught the show in his hotel room while filming in England asked for a dvd compilation and loved it so much that he asked Whitehouse if he could make a guest appearance, the rest is history.
Rowley Birkin QC (From the Fastshow) always reminded me of my Dad haha
Yes Johnny Depp lives here some of the time. He has loved it in England for years. He came straight here after that trial as he feels safe here. The other guy with Paul Whitehouse was also the star of the long running tv detective show 'Father Brown'
Johnny Depp regards Paul Whitehouse acting as second to none.
The lads were on Johnny's table at an award ceremony: Depp is up, about to give a thank you speech - and from the crowd comes Paul's voice: 'you're nothing but a charlatan, Depp'.
It is a sketch comedy show. The “Suits You, Sir” Taylors are characters that appear repeatedly. It is well worth watching full episodes even if you don’t/cant react to them.
Aparently those characters are based on a tailor they saw in a shop in Brighton!
Suit you sir, they never pronounced it as suits. Or at least what they said in interviews.
@@shaneord7527If you are going to insist on being pedantic do at least try to get it right. The reaction was to the sketch - not interviews about the show - and in the sketches they clearly say “Suits.” Another clue was my use of quotation marks 😜
@@LordRahl1975 ,it"s "suit you"!
@@LordRahl1975 yes I was being pedantic and yes I am right. In the interview they said the words they said in the sketch were suit you and not suits you. I remember the original airing and I too thought it was suits, I was wrong.
Mr weasley is Mark Williams, he did a lot of brilliant comedy in the 90's.
He was even in one episode of a great British classic called "Bottom" with Rick Mayall and Ade Edmondson.
Red Dwarf, too! Olaf Petersen in a few eps
U have got to see more of the the brilliant, The Fast Show. Totally incredible.
Johnny Depp loves British comedy, he was a special guest star a comic relief sketch based on the bbc tv show The vicar of Dibley with Dawn French. It’s very funny
Depp's quite the Anglophile - a big fan of all things British, sir. Ooh, suit you, Johnny.
The best fast show with mark williams is the Rambling Hiker sketch... "Stuck down a hole in the middle of the night!!!....with an Owwwwlllll 😂😂😂
Paul is a genius.. so very humble
"Right up my alley" .....OHH, Suits you sir!
Johnny Depp was correct in describing Paul Whitehouse as 'the best actor in the world', as proof, look no further than Paul's portrayal of the character Rowley Birkin in the Fast Show - definitely Oscar material in my personal opinion
The bloke with the hair is Mark Williams. He was Peterson in Red Dwarf and is Father Brown and loads of other stuff. He also did a brilliant documentary series about the Industrial Revolution.
The Actor is Mark Williams, and he has done a ton of stuff, comedy and serious. His first comedy role was a bit part in Red Dwarf playing Petersen.
Like allo allo , “listen very carefully I shall say this only once “ lol 😂
These characters remind me of the older menswear stores in UK, there are a couple in my city that were opened in the 18th century, the staff do seem rather eccentric and from a different era.
Mark Williams is also in a show called Red Dwarf he plays Olaf Petersen
The “channel 9” skits are fucking gold as are pretty much all of the skits on the fast show.
I love watching you react to these, much love from the UK 👍
Arthur Weasley, I think. Played by Mark Williams. Lots of comedy, lots of straight acting and has even presented a game show.
I used to love watching The Fast Show. A bunch of different characters that we'd be quoting and mimicking with friends. Lol.
Johnny was clearly enjoying that god bless him lol 😂
I love the gags in this one. 👌🏼
Minge is a quality word. 🤣
Loads of different classic characters on the Fast show, so much more to see than just these two
I love that Johnny Depp is such a good sport and how he manages to keep a straight face I don't know. The show has many characters but these two recur from show to show.
"that's right up my alley" Ooh suit you sir ooh
Johnny Depp loved the Fast Show and asked if he could be in it so they wrote this scene especialy for him.
Since 2013, Mark Williams has portrayed the title character in the long-running BBC series loosely based on the Father Brown short stories by G. K. Chesterton, yes and Mr Weasley.
For the Fast Show, Various characters in 23 episodes 1994-2000.
The fast show is as a comedy sketch show with loads of characters it’s very funny as well
O suit you sir! It's a show of fast sketches with different comedians playing different characters! That's why it's called the fast show! I knew you'd love it lol! I love you guys I'm a Muppet ♥️
Please do more Fast show! It's hilarious!
Definitely need to check out the fast show competitive dad sketches!! They're hilarious 🤣
This is Johnny’s favourite show and was desperate to get on the show he also says that Paul and the others are the best actors in the world this show will crack you up there plenty of minge, muff and clung words in this show so ya gotta watch more ya MUPPET 😂
One of the funniest comedy shows ever.... so good.
Paul Whitehouse as the 13th Duke Of Wybourne from the Fast Show is a personal fav.
Mark Williams a very funny and famous comedian in the UK, Johnny Depp loved the show that`s why he appeared...
The actor alongside Paul Whitehouse in this sketch is called Mark Williams. There are some awesome characters in this sketch show and I can't recommend it highly enough.
It's British comedy in a nutshell, IMHO. It's as mad as a bucket of frogs. 🤣😂😆
I used to live near Mark Williams (quiff hair) in Brighton UK. Used to do a few 'oo suits you sir!' when I passed him in the street on the way to work. He's a nice guy.
Cracking reaction. Dont normally do this but gotta recommend a BBC series. Its called the League of Gentlemen. Dark and twisted humour but I think you would appreciate it and find it outrageous. You would be out your seat constantly
This is a local shop for local people!
Father Weasley, as you call him, is Mark Williams. A very talented comedy actor and straight actor. One of his earliest outings was as Peterson in the hit comedy Red Dwarf.
A truly great British comedy,The Fast Show is genius.
A series of shorts skits with brilliant writing and even better performances.
Paul Whitehouse is fantastic in everything he’s in.
Multiple characters, a small set of comedian actors (male and female) playing various roles. A very funny show.
The Fast Show was basically a sketch show that did away with all the bullshit and went straight to the catchphrases deliberately. For my money, the best is Johnny Nice Painter who goes into a violent depression whenever he sees the colour black.
Mr Depp used to come for the surf. If you don't mind the near-freezing temperatures, the area around Cornwall has excellent surf.
Today I will be mostly warching.........Suits you sir lol Love it
The Fast Show has similar characters each week and each week those characters get a little bit more mental. Harry Enfield likes to do the same so it's worth checking out a few clips of the same characters e.g. the American tourists (you've not seen the gay or peekaboo sketches yet). They're all good fun. Johnny likes the UK and Ireland because he can chill in a pub and not get hassled (his words not mine) :-)
The Johnny Painter character in the Fast Show is hilarious.
Rowley Birkin QC, one of my favourites played by Paul Whitehouse 👍👍
Made my day. Haha😅😅😅😅😅😅😅. Gotta search for more of this show!
Yes, theat guy is Mark Williams, and has been in many shows and movies, including Dr Who and Red Dwarf.
Mark Williams and Paul on the fast show, they play lots of characters with lots of very funny comedians
Apparently Kate Moss gave Depp tapes of Fast Show, and that's how he found out about the show.
You just have to watch the Fast Show sketch with the old guy going on about the owl, down a hole...............in the fog
Priceless !!!!
The Fast Show was amazing back in the 90's. Sketch comedy but very little preamble, pretty much right to the funny hence the name. Johnny Depp used to watch the show as he was married to Vanessa Paradis and lived most of the time in France where he could watch the show. Depp unironically called Paul Whitehouse one of the the greatest actors he had ever seen and became a massive fan. This sketch was from the last ever episode, and came about because he reached out to Whitehouse explaining how much he loved the show etc and asked if he could appear in the final episode. It blew my mind when it happened and it's still pretty mind blowing now. Which is nice.
'....which was nice' 🤣🤣
Actors name is Mark Williams
Yep, that's Mark Williams, a very funny comedian/actor, and he does indeed play Arthur Weasley in the Harry Potter movies.
As far as I know Jonny Deep used to live in France with his ex-wife Vanessa Paradis, while living there he used to watch a lot of UK TV and became a huge Fast Show fan.
The Fast Show is BRILLIANT!
This sketch happened during the time when Depp was living in France & was also making the movie Sleepy Hollow .
The Fast Show was absolutely hilarious- sort of serial comedy- the same characters often repeating the same punch lines- but somehow getting funnier each time. It's a sketch show and you get to see Paul Whitehouse's comic genius a lot in it.
