I'm not a trainer or teacher, just a fellow learning about boxing and sharing what I learn.
Southpaw boxing film study.
This guy is making big changes in boxing.....I think youll see lots of fighters from now on become better at employing angles and footwork especially in lomas style. We've seen the use of the pull down/seige hook used by several fighters already......its amazing how much of a buzz loma is creating with his style and techniques.
Love your style of presentation, a good breakdown of mechanics along with the tactics, coupled with a replay to enable the audience to process it themselves. Great job, keep it up!
As a southpaw i find these videos extremely insightful so thank you and keep up the good work!
Lomachenko is right handed but he leads in Southpaw style since he wants his power hand to be his jab hand. If you are a fan, you might consider switching to orthodox.
I’m a right handed southpaw
I'm converted southpaw as well
This channel is GOLD!
very good video. really like the way you brake it down. keep up the good work
i need more video like this from Lomachenko
Its like chess with pain in your face. Brilliantly presented.
good boxing manual. Loma is perfect boxer! p4p - 1
second that
@Cash Quest quadrupole that
Beautifully done. The education, the music, the editing👍🏾💯
Eveytime I see one of these videos I have even more respect for this dudes skill level. Love the editing and attention to detail, dope video🔥🔥🔥
One of the best breakdowns, keep the videos coming!
Loma is an artist.
Great video, love the music! Yea Lomo really understands contact reflexes. And check and counter. He’s feeding off of reactions from his opponents, by causing them to throw punches he’s 90% ready to counter. Lot of guys are going to start using this.., if they understand it? Good mix of old school and new age combat.
Awesome video. Well put together. Very informative as intricate details are broke down and explained. Great choice in music. it's educating and entertaining at once.
Awesome Technical Videos Russ James. Using the Yellowing Lines really helps to visualize it. You are very Talented. !!!
Similar to Iron Mike, Lomachenko is an intelligent fighter who is thinking (albeit very quickly!) in the ring. Bravo! Thanks for posting this vid.
"All the time he's boxing, he's thinking. All the time he was thinking, I was hitting him." No time for thinking in the ring. All thinking is done in the gym. Once you step in the ring it's just seeing, sensing, and reacting. Loma and Tyson got to the point where their thinking wasn't "very fast", but instantaneous. Which isn't "thinking" anymore, it's just seeing, sensing, and reacting.
Great breakdown. I particularly love the glove swipe ("can opener" of sorts) to hook. You just don't see something like that very often.
just kept a eye on his foot its amazing his like dancing with them opponents left foot lomas left foot and vice versa in general the best footwork boxing history has ever witness .
Russ James your killing it bro many thanks
Great breakdown man! Thank you and keep up the good work!
Nice, I was waiting for part2.
Thanks and Good job. I hope you keep making them videos :D
Great channel love the format
brilliant video! very clear and easy to follow
Awesome and well put together subbed
I like how you're breaking down these videos. Thanks!
Wow! I had no idea glove swiping was a thing. It's so slick! Also, the music fits very well.
I Love it, Hand Trapping or Parrying (similar but different as in a Hand Trap you grab the wrist, at least in MMA or a Self Defense Situation) concept I learned from my 1st Karate instructor along with working angles (thats why there are 45% angles in Kata) ... I Love the similarity and execution .... I was commenting to someone about Hand trapping and how it is a "Karate" thing then they sent me this Video, its awesome I love it .... for the Boxing people that says Karate does not work many in MMA now use Karate Style (Conor McGregor) or both Karate style striking and Boxing Robert Whittaker or Isreal Adysanna as example
great job both of you!
Thanks so much for this. And the music is to my taste, which is an added bonus.
Great break down and video.
Excellent video!
👊😎
Superb content!
Mas vale maña ke fuerza...boxing wisdom pays off with excellent viktories...
loving the music, great diagrams to help
gloveswipe-hook is really working on my sparring
Thank you for the video!, Yeh i notice his tricks each fight, he like to throw light punches to pin his opponent then set up for a hook/clean punch
excellent vid my bro
Outstanding
Great vids bro. You should do these type of vids for fighters like mayweather, pacquiao, Tyson, Ali, etc.
Good work! Subbed
Well done!
This is sick!
Ross: the Dutch hand traps in kickboxing are their bread and butter, have you looked into their style?

Hey Russ, awesome videos, but how did you get so good at studying boxing?
👍
In wing chin/ Jkd the glove swipe is call lop sau or grapping hand. It is a old movement executed at 45 degree angle. For some reason he using very basic soft version of the movement. This skill advanced and foreign to boxing but is part of the basics to wing chun/Jkd. Just goes to show all the arts of have a connection. 😀
It's cause jkd and south paw boxing have simalarity
Right hand forwards
Bruce Lee of boxing
nice music editing
merci
Perfect casino heist music.
👍🙂
Nice how you focus on one aspect at a time and follow up with examples. Good work.
If Loma could hit like GGG or Beterbiev, his fights wouldn't last long enough for the opponent to quit. Man, 3 retirements in a row. That's insane. And how he mastered Gary Russel Jr., Loma is for real.
Salido was an over-the-weight, cheating bum, who had help in the ring from the referee. That fight should have been off the record when Salido came in heavy by two weight classes. Salido should also have lost on foul points. If you can take the title off the table, you should be able to take your record off the table. That's a bogus loss no matter how you look at it. Weight limits are for a reason.
Really like the music, what's the name?
Russ James great job. Could u tell me name of song on "glove swipe - hook" part please. I would like to train with that music. thank you
El Michels Affair - El Pueblo Unido
Tnx
He's like an anime character boss
Ok so i know that vasyl is southpaw fighter but that punch at 1:40, the straight right hand.. i didnt know until now.. but seeing that punch.. that was with his lead hand?.. it looked more like a cross, i couldnt imagine throwing a cross like that with my weak hand aka my lead hand, as i rarely throw crosses with my lead hand so it would feel a bit awkward, but he threw it naturally.. its not even how his feet is positioned, its the way he threw it it came out like a cross, but with the lead hand.. and after seeing that i couldnt help but wonder, is vasyl lomachenko really a right handed fighting in south paw stance?.. i looked it up on google and he is indeed right hand dominant, but chooses to fight with his right hand and right foot in the front, and since thats the case then i understand now why his jab game is soo ridiculously good, and he can throw his lead hand like a cross or a jab, and since his right hand is dominant his jabs are a lot more effective.. that is very interesting.. that also explains why he doesnt pack as much power.. but continuously outscores his opponents..
He's a chess player big time. Trapping, hey isn't that a old wing chun practice?
You edit this video with kindmaster?
No. Adobe Premiere CC.
Russ James thank you ilu 😘
Amazing video, you have my subscription. We do it just as you described it with my boxing partner and every time we fight like this great boxer. Is there any chance you might do something like Andrew S. O. G Ward? Thank you very much and happy holidays
Franco B
just watch the UFC... that's where Ward gets all his moves from
harm loc snyder G jajajajaja, He is currently one of the best boxers of the moment.
harm loc snyder G lol even ufc don’t allow head butts and testicle punches
whats the legality of this move?
That is what I would like to know, in boxing and in Karate. Karate outlaws clinching and pushing. The guard pin is similar to clinching and the swipe similar to pushing.
Dirty tactics or not?
1:41 thats a jab not a straight right hes in southpaw stance
Illegal technically
Are you sure? Is Lomachenko a cheat?
Breaking the Loma style down, each tiny little thing that he does seems unfair ❗❗❗
Most fighters pore over video trying to gain an insight into their opponents"style", but Here you detail out in MINISCULE PIECES every thing he does to be successful, again, seems UNFAIR ❗❗❗IMHO. THANK YOU FOR READING THE COMMENT!!
Awful music
What a horrible music!!
