    To those complaining she has "nothing else to talk about", this-Scientology-was a HUGE part of her life. Three and a half decades is no small chunk of time. The organization obviously hurt her and she wants to raise awareness about it and help other survivors of the cult. This is obviously her passion project and-I'd venture to say in part-her way of processing trauma while still helping others.
    ÉDIT: WOW! This blew up! Damn. Wasn’t expecting that. Thanks, I guess? I just hope Leah heals and can rescue as many people as possible from this cult.

      singinwithceline and beyond that, she is changing not only peoples lives, I venture to say saving some but also by bringing awareness all over various genres she’s also helping people know better that might otherwise join the cult, now they may very well, Bc of hearing Leah tell the truth, not make that mistake. Lastly by simply bringing awareness to people that never would join who may help a friend from making this mistake. I think she’s brave, awesome, selfless in this and cares very deeply and is helping to make historical changes thru information and truth. She very well may have started the down fall of this horrible cruel group. Rock on pretty lady!

      Also, she's got tons of stuff going on. She was on a hit sitcom for 9 years! She has done many other projects since then. It's the scientology bullies who put out this vitriol that she hasn't done anything of note. And btw: Leah has been married just one time, and happily; her daughter seems quite well-adjusted. Contrast that to Cruise, who has been married 3 times now, to successively younger women (his next wife will be a fetus), and doesn't even have a relationship with his bio-child. And scientology holds Cruise up as a role model? Wow. Just... wow.

    It Isn't a religion. In Ireland, as in Germany, it's classed as a cult. Nothing to do with Irish people being Catholics - which almost everybody says they are, but just out of tradition and fitting in, rather than believing in any of that, y'know, God and Jesus and Heaven and Sin stuff (which is why 2/3s of people here voted for gay marriage, as an example of how 'Catholic' we really are) - but because we've seen all the sinister stuff the scientologists do, also see how it's a money-making racket (any real religion relies on donations, but is otherwise free to practice), And we also know all that crap about Scientology being all about alien spirits/ghosts from a faraway planet long, long ago living inside all of us, which 'tuning' (via expensive 'tests') can discover. Written by a sci-if writer, who 'discovered the truth about our inner Thetans', which is even less plausible than the son of a carpenter rising from the dead, which I imagine could have happened surprisingly often given the quality of medical diagnoses 2,000 years ago. Result: Scientology classed as a cult in Ireland, and no government tax deal or support etc for them.

      Just out of curiousity, what are pentacostals classed as? or believers in the prosperity gospel? Its true that Scientology is a particularly nasty strain, but I have a hard time seeing how many of its formal doctrines aren't at least informally implemented in other religions. spiritual or status rewards for financial contributions (old Catholicism, prosperity gospel just off the top of my head), especially vehement attacks on anyone trying to leave the fold (basically all fundamental religions), strict reliance on texts no matter what evidence is observed (again, all fundamental religions), am I missing anything? I don't see a difference of kind but of severity.

    The difference between scientology and other religions is that other religions allow 'choice'... scientology literally blackmails their follows into doing stuff and if they don't they get severely punished. Plus you have to pay thousands to learn about scientology which is stupid if it isn't a business to make profit.

    • @patphatkitten
      @patphatkitten Před 5 lety +1

      Blackmailing people is against the law. They don't blackmail people.
      People pay money for a service. A service to improve life, get rid of the effects of painful experiences, save a marriage,etc.
      Many people train on how to deliver a service, find a partner, deliver the service to the partner, and the partner does the same thing, under the guidance of a few trained scientologists. It is much cheaper this way and highly recommended.
      You can learn about Scientology (study of wisdom) by buying books about Hubbard's research. They don't cost thousands of dollars.

      What you claim is only partially true. There is certainly nothing wrong in charging a fee for a service but not if you are classified as a religion, as all true religions never charge anything for what they offer. Does it cost anything to be a Jew, or a Christian, or a Muslim? Do you have to pay anything to confess your sins to a priest? True religions do ask for donations, and many are given privately, but they are never mandatory as they are in Scientology, which is one reason why it is so disrespected by so many people around the world as it is generally viewed as nothing more than a greedy cult that is after your pocketbook as well as your bank account rather than a bona fide religion. So beware of any service that you may wish to purchase if it involves a religion, cause you might end up bankrupt! Enough said.

Following his teachings does not require me to pay thousands upon thousands of dollars it only requires that I forgive people and love others as I would love myself. If I turned my back on Christianity, of course, there would be those who would denounce and attack me, but overwhelmingly people would say "Yes! You made the right choice to get away from that indoctrination and poisonous religious garbage!". This is something else. If people could stop for a moment in their anti-all-thing-religious attitudes they would see that there are people being trapped in a cult they cannot escape. This woman is trying to bring awareness to something she is clearly and genuinely afraid of and traumatized by. Something that she wants to expose for the beast it is. Say what you want about me, and my God, and my faith, but this is serious and something we should take note of. Something we should try and understand and help with if we can.

Sometimes they will also have a spokesperson for the other side to explain their views so that the programme cannot be accused of bias. It’s a bit like giving ‘equal air time’ to politicians at election time; an attempt to appear to be fair to both sides of an argument.

    The only thing that's worth watching on TV! My husband and I were glued to the TV. (We rarely watch anything since ads drive us mad) We first tuned into the Mormon episode. Keep up the courageous work Miss Remini!

    After leaving a cult such has Scientology and the Jehovah’s Witnesses it’s hard to imagine someone to start searching to be part of another cult (aka. Religion).

    • @michaelt.5672
      @michaelt.5672 Před 4 lety +2

      @@xxxsleepingawakexxx Common characteristics of cults;
      - strict hierarchies
      - an absolute and exclusive claim to knowing "the truth", that can never be questioned by members
      - if nominally attached to a larger religion (e.g. Jehova's witnesses), they have substantial divergences from commonly accepted doctrines
      - isolation of members from regular social life (often times tying them to the cult financially as well)
      All of these are designed do, de facto, enslave the members to the cult, and usually it's leader(s).
      Religion on the other hand is about building a framework FOR it's followers to find and live their faith in.
      Of course you will find some hierarchical structures in religions too, but they are neither inherent nor set in stone. Which is because they are designed out of practical consideration rather than for their own sake.
      At times, religious structures will get pretty close to cult-like behaviour. But in those cases, you usually see a point where they either return to the "mainstream", or become an outright cult that views itself as seperate from the rest.

      I’m not religious but they are very different. Try joining Christianity then leave then join a cult then leave and you will see a huge difference.

    I've heard it said that the difference between a religion and a cult is what happens when you try to leave. Cults like Scientology, Jehovah's Witnesses, Mormons, the Brethren, etc., all shun you and treat you like you're dead when you leave. Sadly, so many members had no choice. They were baptized as children by cults who employed guilt and fear tactics and who'd fed them lies from birth. I know this for a fact, as I was in one.

      Season 3 is gonna be about Jehovah's Witnesses?! Well, not that I am defending them or anything, but I don't think they can be compared to Scientology (because you know, after all, Jehovah's Witnesses could at least be called an actual religion)

    • @alexstevens9101
      @alexstevens9101 Před 6 lety +4

      Yes, at least the first episode will be about them. I grew up as a Jehovah's Witness, and it is very much a cult. They are just much more subtle about it, and that's why they go unnoticed.
