Running The London Landmarks Half Marathon - Do Half Marathons Get Any More Iconic?

- The London Landmarks Half Marathon is a race that has interested me for years. Being an entry or charity place entry only event, those that can get into this well known half marathon can enjoy a culture filled jog through the streets of London. I was lucky enough to secure a place via the ballot entry, so I headed up to London one bright and sunny April morning and decided to document my experience.
My hope is that this video can serve as a decent point of view experience of what it’s like to run the London Landmarks Half Marathon.
My time was slow for what I know I'm able to achieve as I was recovering from a pretty bad shin splint injury. Injuries aside, I was just grateful to take part and get running again.
So, why exactly is it called the ‘landmarks’ half marathon? The capital of England boasts many rich and historic landmarks which runners can enjoy during the route including:
- Trafalgar Square
- Somerset House
- The Shard
- The London Eye
- The Bank of England
- The Royal Courts of Justice
- Big Ben
- UK Parliament
- The ‘Walkie Talkie’ building
- The ‘Cheese Grater’ Building
- Tower Bridge
- The Tower of London
- The Gherkin
- Monument
There are tonnes of other landmarks which you can find throughout this video. Let me know in the comments which ones you spot and where you spot them!

Good luck, it's a fantastic race!
See you there!
@GladysTMz im not anymore due to health getting bad but best of luck and have fun!
Oh, what a shame, I hope you feel better! @@charleelakebean
Never took part in this one, didn't even realise it was on. Well done lad.
Cheers for that, it's a great half and I'd highly recommend it
Looked like a great day Craig, glad you enjoyed
It was great to be back running after injury, thanks for that man!
Such a brilliant race wasn't it! Ran for Guide Dogs this year and loved every second!
It was a top race, enjoyed it for sure. Great charity to be running for too
I tried to enter it this year, but no luck in the ballot😢. Hopefully next year 🙏🏻
Great vid btw!!
Fingers crossed for next year! Having failed in the London Marathon ballot 4 years on the trot, I was very happy to have finally gotten a place in this half marathon. Thanks for watching!
nice race day vlog here :). i have done this a few times and loved it. you ran a great time
Cheers fella, it's a great half. It was frustrating knowing that I can usually run so much quicker but didn't want to risk making my injury recovery longer for the sake of it. Hopefully there'll be another chance in the future
@@runningcafe1 agree it is a great one but from what i remember there is a lot of turns and that slows you down too. im sure ill get another chance to do it.
that's a great one
It sure is!
21 minutes for 5K is a "gentle jog"??
Would love to give this one a try one day!
Definitely give it a try if you manage to get a place mate, it's a fantastic event
Another good video Craig! Well done
Cheers Jennifer!
What marathons have you got planned for later on in the year towards September October time? I’m booked onto Brighton next week but looking for the next one now
Have only got a 100 mile ultra booked for May so far, not sure if I’ll be able to do that as recovering from injury. Check out findarace.com and there’s usually a good listing of all upcoming marathons. If I recover as planned I’ll be booking more later in the year for sure
@@runningcafe1 I've got a few possibles but think the Mrs would kill me if picked one abroad 🤣
Great vid any tips waht to do and Not to do for next years race?
Thank you for the kind words! I'd say make sure to get a decent amount of training in beforehand if you can. I was injured before this race so couldn't train or run very fast unfortunately. Secondly, I'd recommend bringing a couple of energy gels with you as they can really give you a boost, especially during the second half.
Overall, it's a very nice and flat course so it's not too challenging and you will be fine as long as you have a decent level of fitness and training. Good luck
