Early on, she had enormous strength and stamina. At 15, to go out like she did, with aplomb and sheer willpower! This energy was incredible! And then she harnessed it and refined it and worked on sharpening it. She brashly did tough point work and doubles and fouetté turns and extensions like she owned the stage. Such raw talent at such a young age. Kudos, Sara!!

Sara is my idol now (and I'm 35yrs old!) She had to work n wait n want want WANT so hard to get to where she is today!!! I was a soloist at Alvin Ailey very young but I think it would have been a long career if I had stayed! However watching sara n her story I KNOW now that my n new start is a GREAT ONE! !! TO SARA!!!

Like Mr Balanchine said: some dancers blossom early, some late... she might not look like a Principle here, but she is now. She can command the stage and very musical. As artists, dancers must continue working hard to improve their skill and artistry. I have seen dancers who were so good in class at young age, but now they are just a mess. Just because Sarah might not look at her best here, but she does deserve Principle status at NYCB now.

I bet the judges and people watching never expected Sarah Mearns, who placed 2nd, to be principal dancer with the NYCB later on.

Glad that someone at SAB worked on her mushy feet. She does do the tour de force of the diagonal so well, tho.

Lovely. Unusual tutu for Grand Pas Classique-- isn't it usually white?

***** Good to know-- thanks. I feel like her tutu here could be reused for Black Swan in Swan Lake.

Phoebe Layton Well, usually they choose a lighter color for this variation, like blue, although this tutu is still gorgeous

man she's turned in, and , when nycb dances swan lake, they turn into the best second rate company... years ago when martin first staged the full swan lake, it was a huge mistake cause they looked like a third rate company... they have to stop doing dances that down grade them... just keep the second act and ditch the rest
