The character W. is intriguing but I think we have the necesary clues to solve who he is:
1. We know his name is W and whose name is also W? Wally

The face on the decoder is the face on the clock. That means that the prying eyes could be the watchtower, making sure that bugs and glitches dont appear, while keeping the people under surveilance. House warming is quiet and lonely because thats what was happening in the red scene. Eddie was experiencing homewarming. I guess he housewarmed home into his mind?
Makes sense for Home to be coming after Eddie, as the post office guy, he connects everyone to the world outside of Home.
Like silencing the messenger.

I also thought of it like "oh god, what if Home is punishing Frank by going after Eddie!?" Cause of the whole "oh, they might have been lovers" thing

Matpat. You gotta watch the whole video they give you. It gives context the single pea on a plate and it shows parts of Eddie's day leading up to the ending you saw as well as more lore.

I love how even the transcript even calls out Wally's poor singing.
Love the character, but it's so funny to me.
But to add onto the singing part, did anyone else notice how at first while Wally was almost struggling to get words out before he started to talk in proper sentences?
I believe the voice with the pausing in his words is when someone else is talking, but without the pauses in his voice it is really Wally.

I find it particularly interesting how he says "It's so quiet" three times before he finishes the sentence/gives the rest of the context for the thought.
Was he trying to say one thing and then made to say another? Or was it just hard for him to get the thoughts together to say it?
As someone who likes to do hypnosis as a hobby, the way Wally talks reminds me a lot of how hard it can be sometimes to get words from my head to come out when I'm deep in a state of trance.

There was the part with the long pause before he started speaking off again, the phrase he said at the end sounds more like something that he has said so many times that he just knows the words.
As well as the parts were he did seem a bit confused and sad when he said that he liked Home warming and how he was alone with everyone else busy. It seems like he wants to be with his friends but is alone in his house that could be causing him to be less like himself.
It could also equally be the other way around, where wally is fighting back against whoever is possessing him, making getting words out tough and broken, it's a good theory :)

The way Wally sang the song in the phone call made me think of the first song sung by a computer “Daisy Daisy”. I thought I’d put it out there, it may not be of use, but it sounded similar in the way it was sung.

Wait the idea of a watch tower, and Banarby having the same colors of the tower. Clown is a natural artists so I def believe they use character design/colors intelligently to tell story beats. What if Barnaby is representative of a “guard” dog?
And Eddie being a mailman in this context has some interesting implications
Edit: people are pointing out it’s a clock tower and while it could be that, the point MatPat is bringing up is how it’s relating back to IMAGERY of a watchtower as well. It doesn’t have to literally be a watchtower for the subtext’s symbolism to still be there.

After scouring the Welcome Home website more, I found a lot more apple symbolism (mostly on the merchandise page). All I can think about is the apple from the video in the Halloween update and how it started moving on the plate before a bite was taken out of it. This may also be important to think about considering it is rumored that Wally eats with his eyes.
Edit: Another thing that people don’t really seem to notice about Wally’s eyes is that when he is calm or his normal self, his eyes are tilted downward, whereas whenever we get a Wally jumpscare, his eyes are pointed upward. Not really sure if it means anything though.

I think it's important to remember that Clown said a couple years ago that Welcome Home will have themes of ableism and homophobia. Assuming that Clown is still going to focus on those themes, the update and website refresh seems to be directly playing into them. Getting rid of the glitches and bugs to make the website "normal", or at least trying to make it appear "normal". Plus, that "I still like Homewarming. Everyone likes Homewarming." hits way too close to home for me, having to keep masked every Christmas and not show everyone how horrifically stressed and overstimulated it makes me every year. Then the few times I've tried to let it show, I've always just gotten the response "Come on, everybody loves Christmas."

Also, the whole “It’s so quiet, everyone is so busy during Homewarming, so I’m stuck with Home for a long while” really reminds me of when I’d go home for the holiday break and have to be with my homophobic/transphobic family while all my friends were busy enjoying family time. Just a personal connection, but it really hit close to home for me

I really think Welcome Home is one of the best ongoing ARGs.
This is a great example of humans being better at pattern recognition than machines. We don't understand how we do it properly yet, so we can't model it properly in machines yet either.

One of the commercials actually implies Wally might be _more_ active during Homewarming. Wally says he's sleepy but can't fall asleep, leading into an ad for sleeping pills.

Right next to the sign for Howdy's Place you see a sign that says "Welcome Pillar Family" I think. Why does Howdy Pillar have a sign welcoming his family to town? The sign is new and is made of a similar material as the "Happy Homewarming" sign on the other side.
His nephews were mentioned in the video special, and it’s mentioned that he has a lot of family members, maybe town is expanding to include them?

Howdy's family is came to Home(the town) for Homewarming.
His family is present during the home warming update or "a quarter of a wiggle" of them as it says, you can see his nephews in some of the commercials and audios, and in the merchandise there's a record of him singing about all of his family members that are showing up and the cover image provides visuals for them!
He better make another follow up video, he just spent most of his time looking over stuff he already did and glossed over the the secret video. I want him see everything so bad.

Wasn't the tower confirmed to be a clocktower? I think there was something like this. Something else interests me though. Why would a clocktower be on the outskirts of a town? Unless, this is not the outskirts... but the actual centre of the town. Everything is obscured by trees, yes, but in the Halloween update Sally mentioned something that either drove out or ate other neighbours (there used to be "more people living in the Neighbourhood" after all). Something is consuming the town and at this point, the only part that's left is the part around Home. Maybe we have Home read all wrong, maybe they are trying to keep whatever infected this world at bay.
Wally seems desperate to connect with us. If we treat recordings, stuff from the merchandise and commercials as the Neighbourhood's "past"... maybe at this point, he's the only one left, protected from oblivion by Home, but terribly alone with only the memories of his friends to keep him company.

I might have theory or two here. I don’t know how much of this is stuff people already figured out, but this is too much to keep to myself. Sorry this will be long but if you read it all, feel free to add more or correct any of my mistakes.
This is mainly based on the theory from one of the last times MatPat analyzed Welcome Home on Film Theory. He suggested that Home is the evil one that has trapped Wally and everyone else inside the world of Welcome Home, forming this strange cult. Perhaps it’s an entity (ghost? Demon? Something else?) stuck possessing a literal house, causing it to react, and animate, etc (hilariously, just like the movie Monster House). Maybe Home, or the entity trapped within, is using Wally and the neighbors as vessels so that it can see and hear what everyone else is doing. Take into consideration that Home is a pretty stationary being. Houses and other buildings don’t just up and move around, so maybe Home is feeling a little left out. Or maybe it’s a very controlling entity that doesn’t appreciate being ignored or left alone. Home doesn’t actually speak but only makes various noises like squeaks and bangs. So perhaps in the phone call from Wally where he repeatedly says that it’s “so quiet during Homewarming because everyone is busy”, it isn’t ACTUALLY Wally speaking. Maybe it’s Home using him as a vessel to talk to someone “on the other side”. I thought of this after reading a comment here from @-jessiegraie- They suggested that when Wally takes long and awkward pauses between words in the phone call (around 43:22), it sounds like he’s struggling to get his words out and that it might even be someone else speaking. Especially considering how different that part of the call sounds compared to the very end. It reminds me a little bit of a book I read recently. TLDR, an entity that usually can’t talk possesses a human and uses them to speak. The entity uses very broken and/or simplified words, while speaking very slowly and hesitantly. Similar to how Wally talks in the phone call and has talked before on occasion. It’s hard to catch I think because his voice is always so slow and monotone, but the difference is definitely a little clearer now. I’m thinking Home is desperate to connect with someone in “our world” based on how ‘Wally’ says he “doesn’t want to end the call” or in some past recordings when he says “i know you’re there”. He’s talking to the listeners as if he’s aware of their presence, but is angry that they won’t answer. I think that has something to do with the fact that the TV program Welcome Home is lost (or well hidden). Perhaps back in the day while Welcome Home was airing on television, Home felt loved and appreciated through the engagement and interaction from characters on the show and real life audiences. But now that the show is gone and shrouded in mystery, Home is desperate for a scrap of connection with someone. I have a feeling Home’s intentions aren’t exactly good either. Perhaps it’s seeking a new vessel, or puppet, to control.
Building on this are the clips we get where we see the world through Wally’s (and now Eddie’s) eyes. It’s already been mentioned a number of times before by MatPat and others that this could be Home using them as “surveillance” sort of; seeing the world through their eyes because Home can’t do it itself. The clip where Eddie is seemingly being “possessed” by Home made me think of that image of Wally that was hidden behind Home on the neighborhood page of the original website. The image where Wally is kneeling in front of it looking rather spooky and cult-like. Perhaps that image was a glimpse at Wally’s original “possession” where Home first began to use him as a vessel (or puppet, of course) to see, hear, speak, and interact with everyone else. Now we’re seeing it again with Eddie, but this time it’s a video rather than an image.
Although I don’t really know who could be writing on the ‘away from prying eyes’ website, W says “so much has rotted in my home since then” (40:10). Houses can rot: the wood can rot, they can fall into disrepair if they lay abandoned for too long. But they can also grow mold. Whoever is writing these entries could mean that their home is “rotten” in the sense that something isn’t right and things aren’t as they used to be. OR they could mean it’s literally rotten. Maybe Home and the entire neighborhood has fallen into disrepair after years of being hidden from the world. This also reminded me of the letters and drawings that we saw in a past update. The curator received them from the mysterious “contributor” and it was mentioned that they had some kind of strange substance on them. W, the creator of ‘away from prying eyes’, mentioned that the curator was unwell, but has since recovered. They also mention numerous times that they themselves have felt off, sick, or nauseous. Perhaps the substance on the letters and drawings sent from the “contributor” were covered in some kind of black mold. Something that has now infected the bodies and minds of the original curator and the creator of this secret website; something that is making their home feel rotten, just like everyone else feels in the world of Welcome Home.
I’ve seen a couple people wonder if W is a piece of Wally that has broken away from Home’s grasp and is trying to communicate with other people. But I feel as though they’re writing from a place in our world and in our time. They don’t really write as if they came from the world of Welcome Home, just as if they’ve been affected by it. They also talk about themselves as if they’re expendable. Around 39:58, they say that if something happens to them, it’ll be as if nothing happened at all. Perhaps I’m taking that the wrong way but I feel like they mean no one will make a fuss about it if something happens to them. And possessed or not, I don’t think Wally would talk about himself that way. Mainly given the fact that he’s the main character of Welcome Home. I think if something happened to him it would be a big deal. But I could be reading it completely wrong.
I’ve also noticed some people wondering what Homewarming could mean. Automatically it seemed to me like a play on housewarming; for example, when you move into a new home you might throw a housewarming party to show all of your friends and family your new place. I think maybe Homewarming could be another way for Home to gain more attention from Wally and the neighbors. They all gather together and have a party at Home. Or, if this really is a sort of cult, perhaps Homewarming is a ritual of some kind? I don’t fully know what it would do but it’s just a thought. My only concern is when ‘Wally’ said that Homewarming is quiet. If it really is Home using Wally as a vessel to speak, and if Homewarming is something that specifically celebrates Home, then why would it be considered so quiet? Open to more thoughts on this because I dont really know.
Don’t know if it’s important but frank is the only character besides home to have an e sound at the end of their first name(sally ,Wally ,poppy Eddie ect) and his name is basically being repeated twice . Like he couldn’t make up a name for himself? Thought it was interesting having all the characters sound similar with the ending sound besides home and frank ….

I think the tower is meant to be a clock tower with "clock faces", just taken to a more literal level. Could be a surveillance thing, but I think the main design is just supposed to present as a clock tower

I tried finding lore myself once and failed by getting distracted a lot so ima leave it to matpat to find the lore
I noticed that “a single pea” is seemingly very important, and I thought long and hard about it, and realized, “That seems like something you would eat in the Great Depression” because food was scarce back then. However the first known release of the first episode was about 20 years after that, so I’m not sure if this means anything, but use it as you will.
If I know anything about the Watchtower that the subtitles are implying, it might also be a place of creating propaganda (which would be on brand if this ARG is about a Wally/Home cult)

An odd thought just came to me at the end... Are we "Home"? Meaning, are we the character? When they say welcome Home, should it be "welcome, Home"? Or I think I remember in previous streams it says "you are Home". Also, whenever "Home" takes over Wally, we see through Wally's eyes and it stops as soon as he's roused. Could we be Home figuring out all the secrets the others are trying to hide? Every time there is an update, it seems to be because home figured out what was going on. I don't know, just a thought.

Eddie has been connected to purple (his color of the toy phone, letters in the character bio, ect.) And there was a recording from the last big update (i dont remeber which) in which the recording warped every time purple was mentioned. Idk maybe that's a stretch just smth i noticed

This year is PAX's 20th year. I remember my first PAX was so small that it didnt even take over the full convention center. I think there was less than 10k people that year. And this was also years before they introduced a PAX anywhere other than Seattle. Just wild.

I'm so glad I got my visual snow syndrom diagnosis figured out before i watches this. I can't imagine if this is how I figured it out- Matpat says the sides of the screen have a fuzzy, tv screen whitenoise look. I realise matpat does too. I realize my hand does, too. Something is very wrong....
