Oh I just thought about something else. None of the planets that the Viltrum Empire “help” have any agency either. None of these planets had a choice. The Viltrumite’s “help”was forced on them. I just thought that was another interesting storyline of the episode/story so far and it really resonated this episode.
I'm glad you called out Anissa during her speech about helping Earth. A lot of people hear her offer, and while she's right about humans not being perfect, for some reason they just completely forget what the viltrumites have been doing to the other planets and they're like "SIGN ME UP BRO!!"
Given how Earth looks like in the alternate world in the beginning of the season, Viltrumite rule doesn’t improve lives. At least not in a way that doesn’t look apocalyptic.

Yeah, that's how colonization works. Though tbf, they've never said their first intention is to help, they want to to be part of their empire, then they can help you. And also, we've only ever seen the result of rebellion, not what happens after.

The Ragnars (the super strong aliens) are only a threat because they’re so used to the gravity on their planet. Viltrumites have never experienced it so they’re almost COMPLETELY useless there, but they’d be able to move normally with normal gravity let’s say on Earth. They’re also just naturally insanely strong, so they were able to SOMEWHAT function on that planet. However, the Ragnars can exist with no problem, because they’ve literally evolved to that insane gravity for THOUSANDS OF YEARS. They’re borderline as strong as Viltrumites because of this, and they’re completely wild beasts with no reason. Pretty scary to face a whole pack of them, even as a Viltrumite. It’s very poetic though, because it’s almost like “genetics vs environment” to it’s maximum evolutionary level, which are the two most important factors in your upbringing as a living organism.

Gravity doesn’t make viltrumites weaker, the gravity in the planet they went didn’t make them weak either…. It the creatures in that planet evolved to be stronger than anything in the universe so they could manage to live in that planet
He definitely said it made it harder for them to move. Hence why they were on his ass in a heartbeat.
@@Awake_Productionsyes but the idea is that it was harder for them to move in comparison to the animals there, because the animals evolved to withstand that gravity
So in any other planet or gravity, the Ragnars will always be stronger than viltrumites (the same way we are stronger in the moon or in Mars, since we evolved to withstand a stronger gravity than the one of these places)
If they only made a gravity field or gun, that wouldn't accomplish much because neither the viltrumites would be less resistant nor there would be someone in Earth that can move better in that gravity than a viltrumite, since there is no one stronger than them. The point of that story is that there are another species naturally stronger than viltrumites

I don’t understand why there can’t be more than one way to kill them in the book. Like why are you guys so committed to there only being one method. Cecil even mentions gravity weapons in this episode. They’re invincible so a lot of it is going to come down to slowing them down to give them a better fighting chance.
This show has been a pure improvement from the comics in almost every way. They even kept the gag about costs. They did it in relation to comic panels instead then.

Not revealing their identity to their boyfriend or girlfriend doesn’t protect them it protects the hero. If a villain finds out who they are they will go after their loved ones whether that loved one knows who they are or not.
I think it protects them both. The loved ones can’t reveal the heroes identities if they don’t know it but they also wouldn’t attack their loved ones if they didn’t know their identity because they wouldn’t know who their loved ones are (assuming they’re not going out and about with their loved ones while they’re in their hero costume cuz obviously that gives away who the hero cares about).

A villain can only go after a loved one under two circumstances. 1 if as you said the hero stupidly is Publi ally dating their loved one as their hero identity or 2. If the villain has figured out the hero’s normal identity. If the villain has figured out the heroes normal identity they will go after the heroes loved ones no matter who they are or what they know. So no not knowing their partner is a superhero does not protect them because if the villain finds out who the hero is their still a target anyway. The villain attacking the loved one is about hurting the hero not the loved one knowing. They don’t need to know for it to hurt the hero.
@@kamronspencer4910 It does protect them both though. A secret identity protects both the superhero's normal life and the superhero's friends and family. If they don't have a secret identity, villains get a free pass at said friends and family as well as the superhero since they can just sneak up on them when they're unaware.

Secret identities do protect both but it's not a guaranteed protection is what you're trying to get at I guess.
@@Chrisonix secret identities protect their family and loved ones. Their families and loved ones not knowing they’re a hero does not. Of course hero’s should have secret identities that was never may claim but their loved ones need to be in on the secret. Not telling your loved one your a hero only makes it so they can’t prepare for the danger because they don’t know it’s coming.
@@kamronspencer4910well there's also the fact that not all relationships last. If Mark tells amber and it doesn't work out that's another person that knows who he is making the secret less secure. The less people who know the less ways it can get out and so the less chance they'll be targeted. That's how it protects the people the hero loves. While yes he would have needed ro tell amber at some point its not an easy decision or light decision.

I'm pretty sure the earth we saw in the ep 1 of this season didnt have viltrum empire arrive yet. Mark and his dad were just getting the earth ready for their arrival by getting rid of the rebellions. However we did see alan's race submit to them and we did get to see them rebuild their planet but they rebelled and alan's planet blew up because of it. It seems though that the races that submit to them are essentially 2nd class citizens or regulated to maintaining their ships and prisons while the viltrumites order them around.

We saw planets that resisted them and engaged in war, so yeah, a lot of people died and there was a lot of destruction but I don't think we saw how was the state of the planet after they actually "improved" it

The GDA don't have cloning technology and Rudy didn't pick it up from the Maulers, he just used them. If they had, Rex wouldn't have a Mega Man's hand.
And if they ever get the technology, well just watch the 2005 movie "The island" to get an idea of what Cecil would do.
To be fair, Lois is a reporter not a college student, so she crosses paths with Superman way more than Amber does with Invincible. But the best case is for a superhero to date another superhero or an agent or someone else in the crime solving/stopping business.
I just wanna say we have not seen the planets they take over. we have only seen the planets that have resisted their rule but I feel like you're right tho.

I was really invested in Mark's and Amber relationship. They were cute, but I'm glad they both decided to end the relationship together. They really tried, it just didn't work. I'm glad they didn't decided to kill Amber, I was a bit afraid of that.

gravity is not what can harm the viltrumites, is the creature that are strong by being IN the gravity that is capable of hurting the viltrumites, even if the human used some type of gravity weapon to weigh down the viltrumite, they still can not harm the viltrumites.

How would a gravity gun affect a viltrumid, when Nolan was standing near a black hole whithout it having any effect on him? He was writing science fiction, so the planet's gravitational pull is probably exaggerated in the book. He could move and fly, but with some difficulty

If they stick to comic lore, the monster gets bigger as Amanda gets younger. The alternate universe where the Viltrumites drop infant Amanda onto the resistance, and she turns into an absolute wrecking machine.
They’re definitely sticking to it, now that we’ve seen future Monster Girl.

I think the more apt comparison would be Mary Jane, not Lois Lane. Superman and Lois' lives revolve around each other, personally and professionally, across superhero and civilian boundaries even before Lois was aware of Clark's identity. Whereas Peter Parker's family and friends were always being screwed over by his superhero career, even after(maybe even especially after) they learned of it.
Honestly, I'd much rather be subjugated by Viltrumites than the powerful among humans. At least we'd get future tech to stabilize the planet. And so long as we give tribute, we can probably live well. It's better than what we've got now. I'm all for it tbh.

And we lack some of the more important characters.
So far, it looks like Season 3 will try to wrap up the first half of the story with Chapter 65.

@@GMud00 Comics have a long tradition of cross-company cross-overs and have had all the kinks ironed out for decades; TV is a whole different beast, and it's much harder to do this kind of thing.
