    Amazing...now add a recumbent style seating for those of us with "back problems" and I would want one. I have a recumbent trike with a bafang bbshd mid drive to get me out in the world living again...you guessed it...I had a spinal cord injury and one of my limitations is not being able to sit and be comfortable till I discovered gravity chairs and recumbent trikes.

      I also am limited for the same reasons.To get up off a recumbent would be almost impossible for me after a ride.I've seen a bike seat with a lower back pad that would work well on this.I'll look at the Bafang mid-drive.TY.

    If your commute is likely to have seasonal snow/ice this type of stability could be a gamechanger. I would likely spring for foam-filled tires even if they come with a slight efficiency penalty.

    I owned a Piaggio mp3 400cc scooter with 2 front wheels and a single rear wheel. The front wheels had parallelogram suspention allowing it to lean like a motorcycle, but with added stability of the second front wheel. It was the most sure-footed bike I ever owned. To bring that kind of stability and suspension to an e-bike is genius! I live in The Villages, Florida where golf carts and bikes are the preferred mode of transportation. E-bikes are common, but expensive here. If you can hit this type of active retirement market with a bike limited to 20 mph, it would sell very well. Good luck with your company and I hope to see these for sale soon!

      They won't be able to sell MLM for less than $6k, probably not less than $8k which means loaded up as a delivery vehicle $10k, which would honestly be worth it for a company, but that price would attract flak from the e-bike review and DIY builder community. Maybe they can scale up production and sell them for $5k, which would be fair but still out of reach for most people.

    Another pedal generator transmission ebike is the very different Frikar podbike. Its a 4 wheel enclosed recumbent / velo-mobile for the EU market with 2x 250W motors and will launch around $6k Euros in late 22.
    This MLM is a simpler vehicle so one might expect a lower launch price. However if you want to get that 200 mile range, an auxiliary battery pack would have to increase the capacity to at least 2kWh and likely add 30lbs extra weight.

    A company in Poland makes an EV4 semi-recumbent e-trike that looks and tilts similar to this. Last time I checked, it started at @$4500 plus $1500+ for shipping. I would expect to see this MLM start at around $5000-6000. Too much for me, but if they can get it down to $3000-3500, I might sell all my ebikes and buy one.

I like it alot. the electric drive is currently not working at the moment. I had it working with a Golden Motor 1000w rear hub motor. Unfortunately, the BikeE company is defunct several years ago. And finding parts to repair it are complicated and potentially expensive. For example I had to repair or replace the rear air shock and that shock is no longer made. So I have had to find a work around to get that to somewhat work till i can find another shock absorber that is the right size. Also, the brank components are a bit hard to find. I hope to have the bike up and running again by this summer time on a shoestring budget.

      It charges nearly nothing. There's was a test made with a professional cyclist and even he could barely power a toaster working his ass off.
      The podbike is very close to this and pedaling for the full duration of the ride only adds about 2 or 3% more range.

    • @TheyForcedMyHandLE
      @TheyForcedMyHandLE Před 2 lety +1

      A quite respectful Functional Threshold Power (FTP) for a moderately-to-well trained cyclist is 4W/kg, sustainable for an hour. For me, that would be 320W. If I could manage to somehow do that twice a day, that would give me 640Whr/day. If my house uses 20kWhr/day, then my fit-self can power it for about 45min. Without training, the average person could maybe power their house for 15min a day, at the house's average power consumption. And, like Pedro stated, if a family member turns on the 1500W toaster, good luck powering that for more than zero seconds.

    • @tarstarkusz
      @tarstarkusz Před 2 lety +3

      It's STUPID. It is a 100% electric vehicle that you cannot charge by riding stationary because the battery in this thing would have to be enormous. Most people would be LUCKY if they could charge 200 watt hours in a single sitting.
      Chain bicycle drives are over 99% efficient. Even assuming a user could put out 200 watts continuously to drive this thing, an electric drive train is FAR less efficient, probably on the order of 80-85%.
      NOBODY is going to charge the battery as a stationary bike. It would take 5 hours or more at top output to charge a battery of any reasonable size for a fully electric drive train, say 1kw hour.

    • @tarstarkusz
      @tarstarkusz Před 2 lety +1

      @@OWK000 You can't charge it by using it as an exercise bike, at least not effectively. You just can't generate enough electricity with your legs. Even if it has a relatively small battery, say, a kwh, it would take you hours of exercise to charge it. If you rode it as an exercise bike for an hour a day, you might charge a small 1kwh battery in 5 days.
      This thing is going to cost a fortune if it is ever even made. Figure on at least 5k probably closer 10k DOLLARS.

    The best thing about this things is that you can charge it.
    But if you forget about the wallplug, how efficient is it?
    The twike had a mode where you can use just pedal power. But for a guy who peaked at 67km/h in a quest (which is actually low), a twike on pure pedal power does not at all work.
    Let's say I can do 150W for a few hours. How efficient will it use that 150W for charging?
    To be clear: In a quest, you can easily do 40..50km/h but traffic lights are killing. So I want to charge the drive away power while I am waiting, or biking at 140W, and divert extra watts to charge the battery.

    The pedal generator can make things so versatile. I had the idea for an amphibious recumbent trike using similar tech (in my list of stupid things to do when I'm rich). Would make a fun hire vehicle for lakeside adventures

      It's a HORRIBLE idea. People don't really understand the amount of power in a kwh battery. Most people would be lucky to be able to output 200watt hours in a setting.
      Compared to a bicycle chain drive system, this is VERY inefficient. Bicycle chain drives are very efficient, like 99%. This would be lucky to get 85% efficiency.
      Pedal by wire is DUMB.
      This bicycle is very complicated and is going to cost a fortune.

    And then a Half scale version for tight city streets and sidewalks? I can’t imagine riding that Limousine on NYC streets. Plus you need a whole garage to store it (per the video). Most gyms don’t even have bike racks, we are gunne need miniature parking garages if this is transportation of the future. These guys need to talk to LTT... and run a Manhattan test...

    I need a e-bike/walker that I can ride to the store and into the store.
    It needs a trailer.
    A chain or a shaft drive is fine because it won't get used much.
    A leaning feature requires a lock.
    It needs an inside mode where the power is available but the speed is limited.
