    When you consider inflation from the release date of the model 3, it's actually cheaper than $35000, equivalent to July 2017

    As an owner of 3 total Teslas, I strongly feel we are at a point where the company is mature enough where it should be offering vehicles with much higher quality parts overall. I have newer Teslas and there are still body gaps, super cheap plastic, and other similar. Make the car feel more solid and premium and people will buy more of them.

    For fleet usage, one other cost lever might be to delete the glass roof. A sheet-metal roof with interior liner would be quite a bit cheaper than glass. A variant to this would be a Kevlar-reinforced composite roof...especially with so many police departments buying 3/Y, this could be interesting (though not as much of a cost saving).

    • @samijokinen9246
      @samijokinen9246 Před 23 dny

      Yep, take the glass roof away, but it can be more costly to install a steel roof AND inside soft roof lining. Glass roofs in cars may actually be cheaper than classic sheet metal and lining.

      @michaelsmithers4900 Před 22 dny +1

      The glass also adds weight to the top to offset the weight low down in the floor. This aid in handling otherwise the CG is too low and it will understeer. Also they would have to reconduct all the safety tests as the glass is a factor in accidents.

    This is one thing Tesla is getting wrong. They seem to think the only way to sell more volume of cars is by reducing prices via removing hardware and features. In reality rather than dropping prices and removing features they should be adding them. There are certain things people have come to expect and not having them is preventing people from buying a Tesla that otherwise would. There is no reason you should be taking your eyes off the road to check your speed. They should have a full heads-up display with virtual reality directions when using maps which is not new technology & very effective. They should have the option for a sunroof because in warm climates the glass whilst having a lot of tint does get quite hot through it in many parts of the world, an optional solar panel on the roof to prevent vampire drain and some drivable miles for free which would be appealing to a lot of people, especially those who live in apartment blocks with their cars parked outside, vehicle to load or vehicle to home is very low hanging fruit and has already been implemented by many competitors, 800 volt architecture across the range that would allow for much faster charging speeds just like the competitors coming out of China now from Zeekr and others. Even small things like puddle lamps in the side mirrors go a long way at night when trying to see the door handle or where you're stepping. This is just a few of the many features Tesla should consider adding to make their product more appealing and in my opinion they would sell a lot more vehicles without having to reduce prices anywhere near as much. Even if some of these are factory options Tesla can make margin on, they make total sense.

    had cars with leather seats and i hate them. unless they are heated AND ventilated and even then i will still take cloth. cloth is just best all-around for summer heat and winter cold not to mention it doesn't show cracking after 5-7 years at the creases. so if i can get cloth seats i don't care if they are cooled or heated. both of my car with cloth and no heat/cool and i experience no discomfort compared to when i had leather in my accord in the past. heated steering wheel is over rated and solved with a pair of gloves that you need to wear in the winter anyways when you get out of the car.
    35k is still a bit pricey for me but a bit more doable than 40k. a bit concerned about RWD when it comes to new england snow storms, but it probably be OK. drove a RWD crown vic back in the day and it sucked royally in the snow. but that was 20 y.a. without traction control. i hear RWD nowadays doesn't suck as bad as it used to.

    Everyone just copy the “news” from a source to another, but doesn’t struggle to check it…
    On all exchange rates i’ve checked, 749.000 pesos is equivalent to 40.000$ not to 35.000$

    • @Cleanerwatt
      @Cleanerwatt  Před 22 dny +2

      If you would have watched the video, I explain this very clearly. The 749K pesos includes VAT tax. When you subtract the VAT tax, it equates to just under $35K USD.

    • @xXxM4nuxXx
      @xXxM4nuxXx Před 22 dny

      @@Cleanerwatt I don’t know exactly the laws from Mexic but I suppose that mexican people don’t have the option to avoid the VAT. You can subtract the taxes just if the car will be sold for foreign buyers. And for US members if are eligible for incentives, the LR RWD is at the same price with better range and specs. So it doesn’t make any sense.

    • @Cleanerwatt
      @Cleanerwatt  Před 22 dny +2

      You are missing my point... We don't have the option in the USA to avoid taxes either, they just are NOT added to the base price advertised by Tesla in the USA. Thus a Tesla with a base price of $35K sold in California would actually cost around $37K to $38K after adding taxes. I am comparing apples to apples to compare the base price of the CAR only in the USA vs Mexico. Does that makes sense?
