- Just Machining - 01
In this episode of "just machining" I show you the first cnc machining operation of an aluminum part I had to do. With some nice iMachining paths, roughing, thread cold forming and milling, fine boring and much more!
The part has some critical tolerances, this is why you will sometimes see the same tool changed in twice. This is to have one pure roughing tool and a separate finishing tool.
⚠️ Please do not mill / drill aluminum dry! This is just for video reasons and will kill your tools and parts.

You don’t know how grateful i’am to be able to see someone machining using Metric units.
No comments, just machining. Exactly what I’ve been looking for.
Nice video, there aren't many channels that show the whole process. And i appreciate all the speed and feed information throughout the video.
Great work and nice to see I'm not the only one who's ever welded aluminum to steel.
thank you :) I think we all went through that :))
I love videos as a machinist myself I really appreciate all the speeds and feed and tool info you put in and the cam work is on point keep it up you got yourself a new subscriber. I just sat and watched all your videos back to back and the only let down I found was there wasn't more to watch so I got the bell on so I never miss a new on.
Thank you!!! I promise to add more ;)
Thank you for sharing all the feeds and speeds. The tool info is also really useful. Parting off at the end was cool!
thank you 🙏
I am a seventy four year old retired toolmaker. Your inclusion of technical difficulties really caused me to smile. When the program states g0 wrong direction; , the show is already over. I was expecting a hammer at the end, but from the carousel. Beautiful machine and part!!
I enjoyed this video! Especially at the end! People have no idea how long it takes to program and prove out something until you have to do it yourself!
Thank you!
Love that you uploaded the bloopers, we all make mistakes.
Vielen Dank !!
I like these videos. It givings me ideas how to use the little 5axis machine I have in my garage. Please keep these gold nuggets coming
thank you!! Next one will come soon :)
Geil endlich mal a cnc kanal aus meiner gegend🥰 freu mich schon auf weitere videos
This may sound odd, but thank you for showing the failures too, I learn from them and most of all don’t feel like I am the only one who does things like that. “RIP my old friend Strap Clamp”.
We all do mistakes :)
At 11:30 you can see what i think is the roll tap deforming material into the pocket. Looks like the hole is very close to the pocket so very thin wall thickness.
Probably a good idea to drill and tap that hole before milling out the pocket.
Would besmirch better I agree!
That was pretty cool, first time I have seen on of those Vardex insert threadmills in action.
at the end , what a nice trophy you got there xD GJ
Endlich!!! Geilgeilgeil! Sofort abonniert!
Good video! Thank you very much about tool information, I appreciate it.
Thank you!
This is mesmerizing.
Thank You!!
I smashed the subscribe. Hermle's seem like a damn nice machine. And as an American with some Bavarian Heritage, I long to visit the homeland of some of my ancestors.
Thank you for showing the "technical difficulties" Lol
Respect!
Cooles Video 👍 hermle ftw
Hermle rocks!
Hermle einfach geil
love the end of the video where you show the piece stuck in to the tool ;D ;D ;D
Amazing videos! Please make many more!
already working on the next one :)
@@BavariaCNC sweeeeeet!
Nice crash. Ouch. Great machining.
Flawless 🤩
Tolles Video weiter so.
I like your video.~~ You also so the parameter and tool path strategy. So carefully.
Thank you! next one is coming soon!
How was this part made before the CNC was put on line ? How long did it take both ways ?
Wonderful video. How do you go about when the stock faces arent parallel? A video on such a topic would be great
With this vise it will be difficult for that I have a different setup I will try to make a video about it !
I come from your instagram! You have nice video! Do it more
Thanks a lot!! I will continue!
Hallo.Cooles Video.Die letzte Operation hat mich sehr gefreut.Grüße aus Russland!!! Weiter so!!!
Vielen Dank! Es geht bald weiter :)
Nice work there. It seems as one of the cold forming taps visibly deformed the inside of the already machined part after it was finished. One question: did the face mill survive that colossal crash? Was it still usable?
yeah aluminum you can just peel off and its fine, its so soft
Can you share the machining parameters of the circular sawing at the end of the video?
Awesome 😎
Thank you!!
you forgot to specify the cutting modes for the t-cutter. Thanks a lot for video!
BOOOOM!!!
🤣🤣🤣
super schönes Video! Spanende Grüße aus dem Osten! :) Weiter so!
That's Live! MfG von einem alten Fräser! 😎
What's the G code for OOPS ?
danke :)
Hey man, I love your videos - I have to ask, do you account for chip thinning when taking finish passes with low radial engagement? I have issues with my finish when I don't!
Youe mean like doing a second surface path? I mostime do an extra "empty" path to ensure tolerences will be good and surface will be nice :)
@@BavariaCNC Like when you run your finishing pass, if you run a 0.025MM FPT it's actually less than this as its thinnest point if the axial engagement is small, like 0.2MM, 0.3MM etc. I only discovered this recently... but I find if I don't calculate for it my surface finish isn't so good. My machine isn't as nice as yours however, just a Haas MM.
Nice video! Is that Fahrion CentroP holders?
Thank you! Yes all the collet chucks are Fahrion CentroP, amazing holders!
Total cycle time ?
👌👌👌
do you use mastercam software? is there a tutorial. thank you very much
Sorry, I only use SolidCAM.
@@BavariaCNC sir, can you make a video tutorial with solidcam? thank you so much
@@muhmulyadi5016 I will try to make one soon
Well now I'm jealous.
😅😅
Speed and feeds are slow for Aluminum Milling. I have an end mill (Wisp-R-Mill) that we run a 1/2" Dia. @ 10,000 RPM @ 350 IPM. Radial DOC= .325" - Axial DOC= .700" 3 Flute ZRN Coated end mill.
Nice video
How many hours of programming did you spend on this job?
as it is done with a CAM, not too much, I would say around an hour
I don't believe that, I really appreciate you show the crash.
i like trying to guess what the part is going to be as its being made...lol like trying to figure out a puzzel as its being put together... something like that..
could end in an obession :)
@@BavariaCNC yeah, or in this case scrap
Saubere Sach Buam!
👌
Vericut?
Man I hope that parts sells for a lot of money because that was a long cycle time for one part. I would see if you can fixture them and get 3-5 in one shot
customer an I are happy so all good :) I cant do more in one setup as I need to reach all sides this makes it a bit difficult and the total number of parts produced would not make it worth the extra work
@@BavariaCNC gotcha! Well glad it all worked out
Nice.
How much would it cost to machine such part?
lets keep it with, "it is not cheap" :)
@@BavariaCNC I know..
?
@@BavariaCNC How much do you charge per hour?
How is it calculated?
@@omarelsherif6874 This is a quite intense process there is no plain number to that, but lets say you wont get the pure machine much less denn 120€/h
@@BavariaCNC ah okay.
on 20 mm I play with olc-45
What parting margin??
0.15mm?
yes around that.
Also zum Gewindefräsen in dem 6082er: F = 0,3 (Mittelpunktsbahn, geht auch schneller, je nach Qualität der Oberfläche, die man braucht), Drehzahl = was die Maschine hergibt. M14x0,5 ist Feingewinde und hat kaum Widerstand. 1 Umdrehung schruppen, 1 Schlichten, fertig.
pero solo un poco
0:43 hab gerade gesehen, dass links Granat anstatt Garant steht^^
oh tatsache :) danke
You you can build your own cnc if you buy a cnc🤔
Once you purchased a machine you have no time for making one as you need to pay it off :)))
Technical difficult.
Old time programmer here, I really do not understand why so many waisted tool path cuts with this software.
SolidCAM looks like it makes 'unnecessary' toolpaths, when in reality it ensures that the remaining stock for finishing is exactly what is needed and that the cutter always sees the same chip load. Regular programming doesn't do that, which results in less tool life and longer cycle time. You can tweak and tweak the settings, toolpaths and cutters, but eventually for small batches it isn't worth the effort to get couple of seconds here and there.
