    I looked at several videos but yours was the only one that gave me enough step by step detail to be able to take apart the cyclone vortex. I'm a fan. Thank you.

    Thank you so so much. I got gifted one of these a year ago and I’ve been using it since. I just started cleaning it for the first time (shame shame) and it is soooo nasty. I was stumped when I got to this part of my disgusting journey. I appreciate the walk thru!

    Thanks! I cleaned my 2013 DC41 animal. It isn't exactly the same but close enough that following your video made it possible. I hope to get another decade of good service out of this machine.

    Thank you, cleaned mine without removing the screws, but I did use a small bottle brush in those areas and a hair dryer to blow the dust out. A little easier. Great video.

    great video! I did this exact cleaning this weekend, 2 take aways I found. the white plastic piece that has the inner lip that catches a lot of dirt can be removed from the minicyclone array and for taking the gauze off, once the I had the gap established with a screw driver, I used a paperclip and toothpicks to walk that section off.

    Who knew the little end of that spring kept the middle red piece lined up with the big red piece? Drove me crazy. And thanks for zooming in!!!🙏

    The thing about bagged machines the smells go to the motor and you can’t clean out the bag compartment to get the smells off. The first time I took my daughters DC37 apart I thought it was hard.. but I just bought a 10 yr old DC37 for my son and it took no time to do the tear down. I will let it dry for a few days to be sure and that takes the most time if you need it sooner.62 yr old gramma here with free time to do it though.

    Whoever decided it was a good idea to stuff those dumb little torx screws down in that ridiculously awkward spot buried up in there has never tried to take something apart. Gotta love engineers.
    Thanks for the video, the canister release button on my DC41 broke and I ordered a new one. I was worried I’d have to take the whole thing apart to get the bottom part of the button out but when you missed reinstalling it before you reassembled the top and found you could just stuff it in the side it saved me the aggravation of trying to get those torx screws out and back in again.

    Love this video! So good! It's inspired me to clean out my DC41 cyclone for the first time in such a detaield manner. Very good and soothing voice and great presentation! Thank you Bootsowen! I'd be interested in your other appliance maintenance videos. I disassembled my front loading Electrolux and removed the drum, cleaned a ton of dirp off the rubber seal. That was amazingly satisfying! Nobody has any idea how dirty those can get! 😉

    Hey great video saved me a ton of frustration as well. Now my Dyson is nice and clean. Took one extra sep and let it all dry before reassembling and also lubricated all the O-ring areas with silicone. To keep the gaskets from cracking.

    My DC41 dust canister/bin has started to fall off the vacuum. When engaging the vacuum rollers and snapping it back in, there seems to be some flex in the gray handle. It's like the dust bin is able to just barely be able to start to fall out because of it. It doesn't really look like the plastic is worn, but hard to tell.
    Do you think it's the spring inside the part at 2:35 starting to wear? Any ideas how to make sure it doesn't pop off until I actually press the release button?

    I agree I was recently given a DC41 I prefer a nice bag vacuum. My current one is a simplicity which I adore. This Dyson while washable just seems needy and it doesn't impress me much.

    Hi, great video, really helps build confidence in tackling a job like this. Just one question. The bastard screws around the 9 minute mark - are they just standard Phillips cross slot screws or more exotic? My Phillips screwdriver is struggling to make them turn.

    • @bootsowen
      @bootsowen  Před 2 lety

      Dyson usually uses torx screws.

      @@bootsowen Thanks .... just checked again and that looks right, so I'll get a set of long torx screwdrivers . Thanks again!

    • @bootsowen
      @bootsowen  Před 2 lety

      It might be possible to get a set of screwdriver bits with an extension, then you are not just buying one thing for one job, but maybe you need to get into a tight space! Have a look at my other dyson cleaning vids, I have done this to a few vacuums.

    • @waltermowat4930
      @waltermowat4930 Před 2 lety

      @@bootsowen The long torx bits (magnetic which will also help) arrive today and I can use with an existing screwdriver. Not too expensive. So I can get going again. Its quite a fiddly job though I'll get it done. Using the Dyson in its current filthy state creates a really unpleasant smell, not improved by washing filters so I really need a deeper clean. Thanks for all the help.

    Thanks bootsowen. Who the hell would buy another dyson vacuum cleaner? Over designed overpriced. I bought a simple Henry or Hatty with very large throw away or burn them bags. Simple cheap vacuum. by the way my son and I have science degrees and this vortex design is just bells and whistles. Filthy cleaners.
