Another look at some cut content from the Dark Souls 3 alpha. A whole bunch of unused enemies. Some newly discovered, and further revisited enemies that didn't make it into the final game, or at least got changed dramatically before release. Oceiros smashing Ocelotte into the ground, Vordt covered in babies, hostile Pilgrims of Londor, and a bunch more. I hope you find something interesting to enjoy!

I imagine the board room meeting went like this:
"Look Miyazaki-san, we respect your artistic freedom, but if you put a baby getting repeatedly smashed into the ground in this game, it will not release. Please tone it down."
"What if I make it an INVISIBLE baby?"
    "Okay fine"

@@thatmotivatedchris6749 not really that's just your opinion. It's all an opinion. I'm just saying the original story was alot more violent clearly and alot more climactic. This is something the souls community i would say would agree on. I like this because it's just something I prefer. That's why I really like Bloodborne and am really liking the look of sekiro and it's not like the souls serious is not new to dark topics. Honestly I think it's okay that these odd things exist because they offer great juxtaposition from other enemies. A new area to compliment them would have helped and the old story as well if it was in better structure. That's all I'm saying so I don't get your narrow mind, that it doesn't fit. It does. It really does fit into the lore, though maybe it's textures or it's design don't exactly fit the aesthetic of the game as we know it but it could have as i see. I've been a souls fan since 1 was released and I've played all them a throughout except dark souls 3 so by claiming this is the souls community consensus doesn't really say much to me. So if you wanna talk about the design of the monster not fitting the final format of the game fine, but I'm saying in the original format it would have been great, and the original format would have been superior due to it's climactic nature. That's so far as I've noticed anyway, and there's alot of cool speculation that can come from the enemy, like the various others.

His original name "Angel of Dragons" resonate with his sickly and skeltrical appareance, giving him the feeling of something ethereal, that shouldn't be brought on the same level of humans.
His lair, a an empty hall, remains of what once was his kingdom, something that once was a king retreats himself in an empty flooded hallway, because he feels he needs to protect "something".
It is a desperate creature that fight aggressively to defend his infant son his hand, actively rertracting him , but is at the same time a creature consumed by madness, that loses control at a certain point, smashing his son,the same thing he struggled to protect until that point, in the ground ,and start to act in a more animalesque and erratic way, sometimes flailing his arms while running at you, screaming without a sembiance of human intelligence anymore, starting to use a fire breath ,impossible to humans, symbol of his regression to instinct, making him capable of using the innate abilities of his form ,the mind finally starting to fit the body. He crawls towards , at the same time looking like a beast and the mind of a beast in a still humanoid body, his empty eyesockets and implicit grin of his skull as show of his loss of personality, smashing the son still clenched in his claw with every step, moving with an eerie calm that can change in a psychotic rage at any instant, with an appropriate music.
You feel like fighting a beast, a dragon, the shadow of a man and a raving maniac at the same time.

These finds are really amazing! I do find it interesting with all the Eclipse content that eventually got cut and it probably is ultimately a shame as the game would have felt a bit more like its own thing and interesting as a result, but I did end up loving the final version just fine. The hollow mound slug was probably cut for more or less just being a reused enemy from Bloodborne, but the hands coming out as an attack would have been an interesting addition to an otherwise dull enemy that was very much like one in Demon's Souls already. Still can't entirely figure out the sky worms thing, but at least it makes for an interesting visual. I really wish they'd have done more with the pilgrims, they feel so...unnecessary in the final game.
The Ocelotte content was probably best cut, as Dark Souls is a dark fantasy game, but never quite that brutal. Miyazaki's design philosophy seems much more subtle and he's been known for telling his designers to dial things back and to approach things more "tragic" than for shock value. So while we may have had the plague babies in Demon's Souls and Bloodborne (which is clearly more of a Demon's Souls spiritual successor) had a lot of gruesome and morbid content, the farthest the Dark Souls series ever went was Skeleton Babies and they only did that once. Morbid, sure, but definitely dialed back by comparison. I think tonally, cutting the crushing of an infant was probably the best choice.
