The Baby Murloc icon for new players can only be seen by players who have registered as "mentors". Usually it doesn't mean new player though, more likely it will just show you the bots :D

@@BoboDoggy2728 Haven't played WoW since Shadowlands, but you somehow signed up for the whole mentor programm in the main city of your faction. There were some laughable pre-requisits like reaching max lvl though :D
As someone that signed up to be a guide, I also find it's a lot of returning players who haven't touched the game in years.

An unfortunate lesson I had to learn in not only RL but in MMO's too.
Being too nice = Taken advantage of.
That's the wrong lesson to take imo. Because the response to that is to stop being nice.
I feel like a better one is "Being nice is not the same as being a pushover".

I feel like the only reason that first story was chosen was because of the "I watched all the cutscenes of this story-heavy game on CZcams before I played the story-heavy game and surprisingly wasn't invested in the story as much when I played it"

When I returned to Dragonflight quests were a mess. I wasn't capped but I was dealing with both Raszageth and Fyrakk storylines at the same time.
I am in the same boat as the author of the second story. I just returned to wow after 4 years and it's really overwhelming
Sometimes I log in after 1/2 patches and im completely lost lol
Starting again when a new expansion launches tends to be the best idea, in the middle or close to the end of an expansion is just cluttered with catch up mechanics, outdated content rewards etc.
So happy dramatime is back after a well-deserved holiday! Keeps me entertained while finishing my wedding dress for our happy day next week 🙏🏻

58:35 you guys don't know the half of how trash the loot system was. Back in the day, there was no autoloot or grouploot, you had to manually click every item. And that's not all, some monsters would yoink the items on the ground, and if another player killed that monster, the loot would be his instead. And if the monster looted too many items, sometimes you would lose the rare drop. It happened to me with the hydra card I was farming. Ahhh good times.

The guy from “Help!” Just needs a guild that does casual raiding and m+ events. I wish I could adopt them honestly. I love helping new and returning players figure things out because when I came back at the end of bfa I knew no one and was so lost and struggled for months trying to figure things out… so I like to be that person now that helps other people. If the author reads this just find a guild! They will help you! There’s plenty of good ones out there that help new and returning players all the time

First author really is pushing every button available.
The mentor system in FF14 is massively broken, and really has needed a big rework for a long, long time. There are typically very few actually good mentors; most people just want the crown icon to "show off." You can certainly find one that is helpful - I'm not saying every single mentor is bad - but more often than not, they either aren't helpful at all or don't really know what they are doing.
So the first story.... where was the drama?
Is was just a list of accomplishments that were pedestrian at best, and claims of being an old school, original, founding player of several games.... that it turns out HE DIDNT EVEN PLAY.
Claiming that he is an old school wow player when never having played retail, is like claiming you were at the party because you were queued outside all night.
Bex probably chose it because it's triggering and that would be the entertainment value.

The PG team has been such a mess the past 6 months. They don't upload, or they don't check what they upload, or they upload in the wrong order. And he even hires people for that job :|
As someone who pugs pretty much all mythic dungeons and otherwise, it is fine. Most people aren't shitheads, but those that are really are shitheads.
It's more a matter of just accepting that you'll run into some shitheads.
Regarding the sprout icon in WoW. I agree, it would be a vote kick on the spot in competitive content. The system is great, but wow's ecosystem is built to promote efficiency and loosing time to help players isn't rewarded. To that end, I do believe that if a bonus multiplier or additional loot drops, etc. were to be introduced into instanced content with new players in group, enough to offset, perhaps even slightly overcompensate the loss of time than it would foster a much healthier social environment.

It's crazy how ff14 has so many people who literally make the game their life, or a second life. Ive been playing since original release, love the game to death, lots of hours, but even then some people get so obsessive about it.
I'd like to point out that in the "Help!" story the 70 boost had already been upgraded to a raid ready boost with ilvl 424 so im not sure why he didn't just get into lfr or how he lost ilvl.
Cause the author didnt use the boost because they thought they would learn the class by leveling it
Too Human is a game I loved and miss even though it is widely regarded as one of the biggest flops of all time :/

The second story "Help!" was actually already featured in the "The Lost Death Knight" episode as the third story, except it was titled "I am so lost."
I guess duplicate stories are easy to miss when you get bunch of submissions each week, lol.

I simply do not believe the "Help!" story.
How could you be a former AOTC raider that has also done some mythic and be so overwhelmed by dungeons, and the thought of raiding again to the point that you buy a boost just to "see what raiding is like". The game hasn't changed that much.
Never seen the murloc because no one new is going to retail.
In order to see murloc players in WoW, you need to sign up to be a guide from certain NPCs, you need to have a range of achivements experienced players would have to do this, the reason you need to opt in is so murloc players aren't targeted the way sprouts are (don't try and pretend this doesn't happen, both games harbor toxic actors); once you opt in you can see the murloc badge and get access to the newcomer chat as a guide, which is a completely global chat channel where new players can ask for help etc; you're marked with a green flag if you're a guide
It's a good system and I've personally had plenty of positive experiences as a guide, and I think the fact it's opt in is better, not everyone wants to help new players learn which is fine, so new players knowing that a specific type of player exists to help (as the guides get the flag badge they're easily indentifiable to new players) them is a good system

I'm sorry, but that second story sounds fake. I have ran loads of normal and heroic dungeons and hardly seen anyone speak lol. They are so easy that one person not knowing what to do means absolutely nothing.
Shadowbringers is the worst expansion by far.
Oh people like wasting all that time in a random world without a single character you care about it in it under that nauseating piss yellow skybox? For a world you literally just entered and are supposed to immediately care enough about to save?

Cool! My story was chosen for the first time. I won't say which one was it (although it's mostly obvious) but I have to say I am sad that it has a ton of changes. Like 90% is not my story anymore and there are some very critical mistakes. I sat and listened to a story about a player who had a similar experience to me and yet the player was another different person and not me. Maybe Bex did not really understand what I was saying idk but I don't think my English is that bad. The temptation to just post my original text is so big as it's vastly different than what was presented. It feels very disappointing. If anyone is interested I'd be happy to dm you the OG story.
