Nvidia is great at recycling, instead of throwing away bottom barrel chip they recycle them into 1630.
which they then sell at the price of a rx6600 💀
@@skriv0in0navn The 3050 being more expensive than the 6600 while performing worse than it is legitimately criminal.
@@riven4121”But it has rtx😢”, they say.
@@riven4121”DLSS”, they say.
@@whoisjoyboy The hilarious thing is the 6600 is better than the 3050 at ray tracing too. The 3050 only sells more because the box is green.
The rx 6600 is the main contributer to the latest gpu market crash
For 200$ you get an excellent 1080p card that can play all games at 60 fps you don't need to upgrade your cpu or get a new power supply in most cases
Do you have one and if so what did you upgrade from? Also what games do you play that have improved. I game at 1080 and currently have a RX580 8GB but I am pushing towards the 6600 but I've seen a 6650XT for £240 sell my 580 for around £70 and I can get it less than a current 6600 cheapest is £180😊
@@dnakatomiuk my upgrade path was 580 ->1660ti->3060->rx 6650xt
The last one wasn't as big of an upgrade but i needed it because it gives me around 160 fps in warzone 1080p and even 200 in Mw2
If you can go for the 6650xt do it , the price is great and the performance is on point
It's also great at 1440p if you have the monitor
Wouldn't call the 6600 non xt as good 1080p. The 3060 is better with 12gb vram, or just a bit more get the 6700 or 6700 xt
I also had couple of flagship GPUs i got from the used market, the only reason i couldn't keep any because they need a whole new system, i.e better cpu , psu , mobo you name it
@@gejamugamlatsoomanam7716 i was talking about the 6650xt
Sorry if you got the wrong idea
And yes for 1440p the 3060 is better, not mentioning dlss which also can help
At what point does it stop being "The drivers aged like fine wine," and start being "They released it with broken drivers?"
Depending on where you go, it was always that. See Gamers Nexus.
Given that Alchemist is Intel's first foray into GPUs, drivers being broken out of the gate was kind of expected. Not a good thing, but they had to launch the product one way or another.
it was always just broken drivers, whether it be intel or amd or whatever. the fine wine thing just started out as copium from radeon fans because the radeon driver team almost never released drivers on launch day that actually used the card's full potential (apart from the rx 6000 series, which was actually pretty good in that respect).
I rather have high performance from the begining than getting 10 extra fps after 4 years.
Well, tbf, they weren't broken from release, they worked. Then they made improvements over time, and gave those improvements to you for free, so I guess it depends on how you look at it.
@@jeffvanstoneI don't know about you, but having to reinstall Windows 10 just to update the drivers doesn't constitute "working" in my opinion.
Arc drivers are in a much better place now, but at least until December of last year, they were a dumpster fire.

A750 when its discounted is in a different league of price to perf
@@shreshta_yt I’ve heard of the A750 selling for as low as $199 but when I look around I have not seen it.
At that price it is definitely worth considering.
Though it is still not faster than a 6600 in every single title and I can buy one of those today for $179.
@@evers6214 the A750 is ALREADY beating the RX 6600XT in higher resolutions?? This is just why Intel is a great value, the A750 was made to compete with a RTX 2080, so i expect it to slowly get to that performance leve, this is also why i think the RX 7600 is a good value, DRIVER FINEWINE
future is red unless you want to unnecessarily want to spend more and get nvidia coz the more you buy the more you save
@shreshta_srivastava Please stop. The A750 is decent at 1440p and RT, but the fact remains that the thing is still a bit temperamental for most people, especially with DX 10/11 games. And at $250 new with occasional drops to $225 or $200, it still has to compete with the 6600.
Please stop with the copium. I'm an Arc owner and I like my A380 enough, but I realize that I'm a beta tester for Intel atm.
Pulling out the $200 6600 at the end feels weird with no mention of the A750 that also has recently seen dips to $200

I love the way Dawid talks. He's unapologetically sarcastic and witty, coining new phrases almost every time he speaks. For instance, Intel driver updates becomes "The Fermentation." It sounds so awesome. And every time he references the Airbus A380, it makes me feel so fulfilled, because it's a reference I would have to make as well. It's what you deserve for choosing this model number, Intel.
I always love these David Does Tech Stuff videos
Dawid
the best part about the a380 is the overclocking capabilities. In the Arc Control center, just increase the power draw and add some voltage (like +90 is a decent start) and watch the card transform into a different card altogether.
It really is a solid overclocker. I'd argue that at ~2800Mhz, it's almost a 580. Granted, stability is iffy there, the Asrock Challenger model has a considerably worse cooler than this, and you have to do some stuff using the Predator Bifrost software to get that specific model to go above 66W.
I love dawid videos, that outra man 😂😂 Keep it up, keep smiling, and keep being you 😁

For my Arc A750, I run the 44.99 drivers, and they seem to work great.
I've been running the same drivers on my A750 for the last few days, been getting random black screens where they'll last anywhere from a split second to multiple seconds.
It hasn't been bad enough to make me want to change drivers for now, but I will probably go to 4502 in the next few days because of it.
yeah 4499 is perfectly fine on my A770.

Make sure you're enabling ReBar i heard ARC GPUs benefits a lot from it .
Less benefit, more like REQUIRES it. Without Rebar, you're going to get a lot more stuttering and 1/3 performance loss.
If the GPU doesn't see ReBar enabled, you get a nice giant pop-up warning you it's off, no way to miss it. At least that's the way it's been on the a770.
It's probably with rebar on as he did note in a previous video

You should try running pre-DX12 games with the Proton compatibility layer.
Funnily enough I think intel is actually using dxvk to play dx9 titles and lower, that’s why the performance improved so much
@@maikeru6158 it's a whitelist so for a lot of titles you still have to add DXVK on your own
@@wanderingwobb6300 They are talking about the Windows driver. Intel refused to develop a new DX9 driver for Arc and just slapped DXVK into it instead, the driver is literally incapable to run DX9 games without it.
@@letalissonus it uses directx9 on directx12 primarily. Like I said the titles it uses DXVK for it a whitelist with only titles they've tested as working well with it using it. You can still use DXVK for any title on your own though.
I also own that Gunnir A380. I don't know what kind of configuration you have but mine is running around 10 to 15fps faster than yours with the same exact settings that you have for those games. The cpu that I have is just an older Ryzen 5 2600 with 16gb 3600mhz cl18 ram. I just turned ON the 4g decoding (resizable bar) in the bios.
Yes, he probably forgot ReBar.
I was at Microcenter yesterday picking up parts for a new pc for myself since the kids took over all of my other pcs. I couldn't quite afford a decent gpu yet and I saw the A380 and thought. Na I'll wait.
RE4 and LoU drop textures when hitting the VRAM limit. You trade visuals for fps, and often you start getting hit with more stutter after ~30 minutes of playing
Aisurix 5500xt is 8gb and $136 USD. have one in my system and it runs warzone on highest, if you’re fine with a constant 85C temp
Well Intel do have a road map for further graphics cards with fantasy character class names, so they might take what they have learned and come up with some more impressive silicon.
I’ve been waiting for Dawid to revisit the Intel Arc GPUs. Very nice to see that.
Dawid's watch has me intrigued
Thank you for switching to a frametime graph instead of the fps graph... Its a lot easier to tell how smooth/consistent the fps is with the frametime graph. Also it would've made more sense to compare to the RX 6400 or 6500 XT which are more similar price/performance wise. Maybe even the 1650 (tho its difficult to find new) just for some closure for the people who have the 1650.
Thanks for this well done video.
What software are you using to show system information? Like the fps counter and such
I'll point out something you didn't mention about the ARC: Take a look at memory util claims in the RTSS overlay. Particularly with CP2077 and BFV. There is a substantial drop in 'amount of memory used over what the card has' between older drivers and new ones, and that is likely where the minor improvements in frames and 1%s came from.
It's also interesting seeing how much more VRAM the ARC card is using compared to the 1630 in general, even in games where the 1630 is running better, like GTA5. It would be interesting to see how the ARC actually performs if they ever get memory management handled in an efficient way.
Should have tried DXVK on GTA V since you do SP test :) the boost it gets its insane I've seen 1440p high setting go 60fps+ in one of my videos. Gunnir looks nice but damn such overkill design for a card that can do 28W when undervolted. Should have no pcie connector.
The longer hair look is dope.
Someone get Dawid a gamepass subscription so he can do tests on different games
Hi Dawid. Have you tried the Sparkle Arc cards?
The "Save" button (to save to watch later) is hidden on Firefox, but it shows on Chrome. This is the only channel I sub/follow that has this issue.
great video david tho the rx 6600 competitor would be the arc a750 not the a380, right?
how about a comparison bw that
Can you compare the RX580 8GB to this card? I wonder how it stacks up, while costing less. I think its 110 on Amazon US dollars right now and should be about double the performance of the A380.
I think "new" amazon RX 5500XT much better to compare
580s are widely available and cheap. 5500XT is almost not available, if it is, the prices are too high. It has a 128 bit interface, some of them are 4GB memory. Its not advanced but held back by cutbacks.
The 580 beats it
Current real fine wine graphic cards: RX 5700, RX 5700 XT, RX 6700, RX 6700 XT.
I picked up a 5700XT Gigabyte OC model maybe 6 months ago, $200 (cdn) Very happy with it so far. I don't work it very hard, but it is nice not hearing my old R9380 scream like it is about to lift-off. I would have liked something new, but there was no way I could pull the trigger on something more expensive with less or equal performance. Warranty isn't that important to me. 6600s are still going for $250 on sale to $350 if not. Crazy.
@@--_DJ_-- if you will undervolt this 5700XT properly you can get FPS boost with less power usage :)
And RX 6800, RX 6800 XT as well??
@PolecanePC She is thirsty, maybe I will look into that. Thanks!
@@hiriotapa1983 yeah well those I believe are cards used by limited number of people, let's be honest it's not like most of PC users are going for 'high end' cards
Intel will hopefully step up the competition with BattleMage.
You can't go wrong with chipsets named after D&D characters.
I would say that the A380 shares the same role in the GPU market as the Mitsubishi Mirage shares in the car market. Its there for the rare person who says "I just want something new." - RCR
with intels newest drivers my fps in rising storm 2 vietnam hue city went from 50 fps to 85 fps. this was from last week to now.
Im loving it.
For a first gen it's alright. I hope they can do better for Arc Gen 2.
I think you should add warframe to your benchmark repertoire. My MSI gtx 1060 3g OC is starting to have trouble running it on max settings.
So the gaming performance of the A380 is basically that of the 8-year-old Radeon 380X, but with new features like AV1 encoding... Good to know. I think I'll avoid putting it on my wish list. Looking forward to seeing what the next generation can offer though.
That's a nice looking watch bro what is it ?
Your channel literally the weird kid on the block, i like the concept
The Airbus A380 joke landed quite nicely.
every time I hear Dawid say aluminum it makes me want to watch horrible bosses 2
That 96-bit memory bus is a deal breaker for me
Not just the rx 6600 even the A750 comes at $199 in certain locations. People might actually be buying the A380 for Intel to not drop the price.
where is the a750 $199?
@@tyre1337 sorry, saw it it Newegg for $199 a couple weeks back but now it's $239.
The people buying the a380, like me, were doing so to use them as dedicated encoders/transcoders in custom media centers. For that alone, the a380 stomped all over everything else.
Dawid Does Tech Stuff > Saturday morning cartoons
The fine wine argument is kinda moot when you start from a completely broken launch. The biggest performance improvement for older games came from directly incorporating DXVK into intel's driver stack, so everything's translated up to a modern API regardless of what a game's coded for. It's a smart move, they can continue improving DX12 / Vulcan performance and stability to the benefit of pretty much everything. The "fine wine" argument may come into play for arc sometime in the future, but I think the starting point is a generally stable, feature complete driver (which they may very well have now), and measuring improvements from there.
DXVK front/mid end (it's not the whole DXVK) is used for DX9 games but not for DX10/11 games.
Great, but when can I get a "driver update" for my HD4000 integrated graphics?
Well Linux does give intel igpus a small performance boost, though 10-20% is probably not gonna change much
Latest update foor 4600 is from 2020 or 2021 so... same for 4000 (same base) i guess
@@Spido68_the_spectator Yep, and their last driver on the way out the door was a hot mess. Apparently there was a security issue in the DX12 implementation... so they just removed DX12 support. But the way they did it, the HD4600 still reports to the OS it has DX12 support, and just crashes any software that tries to use it.

@@tyre1337 I've seen it go for £199.99 when looking now, so yes, it is close if I ask you :)
Is there a low profile A380 with no auxiliary power requirement? If it draws only 75W, it might be a nice option for SFF cases which don't need the very high 3D performance of an RTX A2000 or RTX 4060LP.
Looks like my plans for a small form but capable Retro Gaming & emulation PC are getting ever cheaper options.
i will stick with my acer bifrost a770 16gb card... been serving me well since last year when i got it ;)
Not that it matters, but the heatsink underneath the fan shroud of the A380 cooler the heatsink is extruded aluminum, and not machined.
On the Nvidia side, you can also get used 1660s in the same price range as the A380, including some Supers and Tis. Those should stomp the A380, as well.

He needs a few more Linode Sponsors spots to do that.
A 6400 or 6500xt/1630/a380 is more of an on-par price/performance comparison i would think.
I am thinking that these A380 cards will really shine in a couple of years when it is 3rd Gen Ryzen and 10th and 11th gen Optiplex systems are being sold dirt cheap, and these cards are available for $50-75. By then it is likely Intel will have decent older DX support, and it will likely be less important anyway.

Does the resizable bar on?
At the start of the video and hoping he's wrong, talked myself out of the a770 on my recent build.
Not only does the RX 6600 get 3 times the framerate, it also supports VR.
same does with the whole 500 series 6000 series and 5000 series for the vr
I wouldn't call the VR performance very good though tbh... Still one of AMD's weak points, sadly.
