During Viet Nam war I served aboard the U.S.S. Cone DD866 . The Kidd was part of the task force we were assigned to. Alas, the Cone was scrapped back in the nineties. I salute the men who before my time were in harms way and served in a war that left no doubt as to the reasons for conflict. Can"t wait to see this film! And thank you Mr. Hanks for your genuine interest and concern for all our current and former military people. "One over, two under!"

Shame I read a book about a young kiwi airman that was sent to Canada to finish training & then to Uk on a convoy... he speaks of the state & commitment of those civilian sailors... the “merchant marine” , the sleepless, nail biting trip with u boats taking ship down, the hate n fear that he as a kid.., saw in these hard hard men... he said that he never saw greater commitment, or aggression toward the Nazis in all the combatants that he saw later in combat...
It was the most serious & seriously gotten right part of his book.
It steeled him more everything afterwards... standing on deck at stations... watching ships around them light up, fold up. Leaving no trace... & then the screams of his crew and those in the water near by...
Possibly the greatest human story never told b4..., good on Tom n co!🌹

@Tiger Tiger I agree. My father was an officer on several Head Line ships, crossing the North Atlantic numerous times in World War 2. He, and all those 'hard men' of the merchant marine need to be acknowledged. Their sacrifice needs to be recognized. Yet, at least in Canada, there are no celebrations for them on Remembrance Day. That is a crime. Imagine going to war, defenceless? Terrified? Profoundly affected by the ravages of PTSD?

The movie looks like and appear to have the same theme as the classic book:-"The Cruel Sea by Nicholas Monsarrat". War movies based on reality and Tom Hanks that can make you believe with some obscure talent that he is that character in that movie, makes me look incredibly forward to watching it. What an amasing actor.

Another book Greyhound is similar to is the book it was based on, The Good Shepherd, by C.S Forester. It's a great book, many course changes though and a large use of the phrase 'very well'. But check it out. It's an amazing novel.

This message is to the employee who is tasked with deleting all messages that make Stephen "uncomfortable in any way" (insert "take responsibility" - quite interchangable, really). Please know we know what you're doing. While we aren't going to stop demanding answers and pursuing truth, we are glad to help you pay the bills. However, do you really want to remain on the wrong side of history? If I were in your shoes, I would update my resume. Best of luck to you. 👍👍

Gotta see this movie. I'm so glad Hanks was able to keep control of the script. Little annoys me more than dialogue that is artificially written to explain to the audience what things mean. That's not the way people talk. Just give good context and the audience will understand.
This is a really common mistake in a lot of the TV medical shows.
