Hey guys! if you enjoyed this tour of the Kidd, checkout our Alabama video!

I dare not imagine the true size of a Yamato-class ship !
For comparison, the whole Fletcher is the same weight as a 1 Yamato turret😳
heh, I think it could carry your house
@@mr.hatehorrorgame4495 not just his, your and mine also
Shorter but wider than an iowa
Yamato briefly appeared in "Man in the High Castle" season 3.
The current curator of the USS Kidd Veterans Museum, Parks Stephenson, was one of the members of the exploration team that found both the USS Johnston and the USS Samuel B Roberts.
Fun fact: The red seat is the designated “sick” chair, anyone feeling unwell or have a contagious illness, they use that red seat to do their business. It’s called the hot seat.
No, not that type of sickness. They were for guys who got STDs. Not the normal sniffles.
@@andrews2990 Nailed it.
👏
Referring to the very beginning of your video: The Kidd was modernized much like all of the other Fletchers were. They back dated her to her WWII configuration, which a testament to the amazing work the museum has done with their preservation work. If I remember reading correctly, Kidd was chosen as the ship for the museum because she still had her pole mast, while most other Fletchers were updated to the tripod mast.
There are traces of the modernization visible, though. On the port side there’s a double break water for the dumb waiter hoist that was added in the 50’s. I’m sure there are others, too.
As a scout here in Illinois we stayed on the USS silversides a gato baleo class boat. I fell in love with the silent service that day. I have been on the USS Alabama, USS little rock, USS the sulivans, and the USS Constitution. Love history and the history of the US navy.
I Kidd you not; visiting any of the museum ships never fails to put a smile on my face. Never been to the Kidd but definitely would love to visit sometime
My Dad served aboard a Fletcher, U.S.S. Abbot DD 629.
Abbot served alongside Kidd at times and also served in Korea and into the 60’s.
No ice cream or AC on Abbot. My Dad slept up on deck between the stacks.
Abbot rammed an aircraft carrier that accidentally cut across the bow, and kept on sailing. Sadly 3 crew were killed and several wounded.
Funny enough that you talked a lot about Hornet, The first time I ever got into history was when I got to go to board hornet back when I was a wee lad. I didn’t know my grandpa served on her (with the catapult crew) during Vietnam time until my parents explained to me. And that is how I got into military history.
When i was a kid, i had the opportunity to stay a night of the USS Kidd with a group of friends. Was a great experience being able to explore the ship without a guided tour.
A fresh coat of paint ! Kudos to the art department 😁
Excellent job as always from them
@@sealordmountbatten Although the premium camouflages are getting lackluster, especially Brisbane’s - it’s just grey.
Lol, I was talking about the new paint job on the Kidd...
The legendary ship herself.. One of the few ships that were allowed to fly the Jolly Roger Flag (Other one is a Burke Class)
Steali- I mean Acquiring that Ice Cream machine made me laugh hard..
Strategic Transfer of Equipment to an Alternate Location 😊
Thank you for taking us on a tour on Kidd. Your RL videos are as always well composed and well made!
SLM God bless you guys for doing this video. I am medically disabled now and do not travel anymore. This video helped me see the USS Kidd up close for the first time. I will play her in game a little more :). I was last able to see the USS Hornet in 2018 in which my father was on with VF-11 Sundowners in 1945. After that i became ill in 2019 and retired.
She’s the only ship I’ve paid for in WWS and not had buyers remorse from to this day. Absolutely love everything about her. Including the heal.
Great video SLM. My Dad served on the Kidd during the Korean war. He really liked the ship, as opposed to the USS Henderson that he started out on. Mostly shore bombardment in Korea.
As a brit, seeing HMS Belfast blew my mind for the same reason, light cruisers never seem to be that big, one day my hope is to go and see USS Missouri, and i reckon that might be mind blowing
I love seeing the ships that survived through history! But to see a destroyer thinking that is big, oh boy I wonder what a real battleship looks like compared to that when side by side
I dont think they call it a premuim camo when its on the real boat but I liked it none the less. So jealous we dont have more ships saved here in the UK.
Nah, just a joke :)
Since I'll probably never get to go see it, this was the next best thing. Thank You.
Thanks!
I miss walking by the ship every day for work.... its a really nice museum
It is amazing to see history, I went to USS Texas and USS Lexington because at the time I lived in Texas for a bit but there was a ship that was built in my home town of Orange Texas, USS Orleck, she was docked in the Orange Texas shipbuilding yard and I never been on her as kid when she was there but due to local Bureaucracy she was moved to Lake Charles Louisiana, she was moved to Jacksonville Florida sadly so I have to travel far to a piece of my local history
As a planespotter, im just starting to love historical navy ships again! Specially fletcher class destroyers!🚢❤
Maybe the very small looking houses on islands in World of Warships are actually to scale after all! I saw a video on another CZcams channel last night about the incident in World War Two where the British destroyer HMS Glowworm was engaging two German destroyers. The Germans set smoke screens to disengage, and only then did the Brits notice an enormous shape coming out of the mist. It was the German heavy cruiser Admiral Hipper. The British captain realized they were unable to escape, and had been damaged by a number of German shells. He gave the orders to ram the Admiral Hipper. HMS Glowworm inflicted damage on the Admiral Hipper but broke in two, and the design of the Admiral Hipper allowed for the damage to be repaired and the ship to remain afloat. The Germans picked up survivors, while the captain of the HMS Glowworm assisted as many of his weary crew as possible to be rescued. Finally, he attempted to climb a rescue rope himself, but was too tired to hold on long enough. He fell back into the sea and was never seen again. The German captain later found a way to get a message to the British Admiralty to recommend the captain of HMS Glowworm for posthumous honors for bravery. The Admiral Hipper was huge by comparison, so one can only imagine how daunting the sight of ships such as Bismarck, Turpitz, and the Yamato class battleships was.
If I remember correctly, the red seat was reserved for those crewmembers who brought back "passengers" from spending their time ashore with women of negotiable charms.
I’ve heard so many stories about the red seat that I’ll go with just about anything lol
@@sealordmountbatten This guy has it correct. It was for guys with VD/STD’s.
oh my god, they made my ship in wows in real life??? when did they do that.
I think once the game got popular, probably around 2018
Thanks! Very cool to see the actual ship.
I love these museum ship videos. Thank you.
Great tour, thank you to both of you.
10:30 There is a video on YT from the Iowa about the whole loading and entire level system of how US Battleships load their… pointy trees. It was a going through turret experience by the official channel of the Iowa
Thanks Kidd for all your service and for your part in creating a channel that that I enjoy to no end
Thanks for showing us around. Hope you will continue to make more of these kind of videos
Unless you ran across a megalodon shark, you definitely wouldn't need a bigger boat fishing with the Kidd.
14:52 The red seat was for sailors with VD
I loved the video! A nice little change of pace and you did absolutely great!
The paint job looks great! I Live about an hour away so I went for the Anchors Away Tour. It was fun. They hid a bunch of TX Premiums around the ship. I think 2 of them were never found.
Thanks for the fun video share 😀 😊. Still my favorite DD to play in game.
Brilliant video mountbatten👏🏻
Thanks!
The USS KIDD ( DD-661) had a dumb weighter installed in 1950’s to bring up food. Once a dry dock space opens up in Luma, LA- this feature is going to be removed - allowing her to be “ back dated “ to her 1940’s configuration more
I drive an 18 wheeler, I alway get excited crossing the bridge and seeing that ship
I like Kidd very much in warships, probably my favourite US DD, thanks for the visit, that's very cool, I wish I didn't have to travel 8k miles to visit her 🤩
Thank you so much, very awesome report i guess. thumbs up.
Your, Sir, are my HERO!
This was a fantastic video.
This new VR update is crazy 💀
The haptic feedback is quite good too
Would love to see more of this type of video in the future if possible, very entertaining. :)
Soo cool this video.... Thanks for share😊
This was great
Nice tour SLM!Didn't know the story about the ice cream machine, but now I do for sure😅
14:32 I always remember the scene,"Now Mr.Lopez!"
And also,I hope we see more of these👍
I really enjoy your special videos Sea Lord, I do like the Fletchers probably my second favourite WWII Destroyer Class. Nice On 👍🇬🇧🍺
I visited the ship a few years ago and it was a great experience. I served on an Essex class carrier, so the Kidd is a small ship to me.
The head with red seat was for the guy's with VD
Hope you make it up North to see the Massachusetts !
The plan is to get there eventually
I had the idea that you were much younger :D Thanks for the tour.
You do not STEAL things in the Military. You Re-Appropriate it. So they did NOT steal the Ice Cream Maker.
Strategically Take Equipment to Alternate Locations
Next Sunday or sometime this summer, you should visit USS Alabama along with the USS Drum there
I have been to the uss Missouri in Hawaii and can confirm the game makes it seem much smaller.
My father served on the Kidd during the Korean War!
More content like this please!
Though a DD is still small compared to BB's and CV's!
nice :D i visited the Mikasa and Yamato(museum) when i was over in JP 2 months ago . next target is the USS Missouri and Pearl Habor next year^^.
No video. It was stationed in Mayport, FL, part of Jacksonville. The bridge in the photo looks like the Alsop, or Main Street Bridge. If this worked right, would loved to watch it.
Favorite world of warships DD.
I am trying in-game to collect all the T-9 Fletchers I can. Kidd is only T-8, but still a fun ship to play.
Come to Norfolk and visit the Wiskey. She’s quite impressive.
I would love for SLM to come over to London to look at HMS Belfast.
Its definately worth a visit even if its a one off.
USA Kidd's track of record seems like reason why it was chosen to be memorial/museum. I guess it had typical duty and fate of US ww2 destroyer.
A man can't imagine, how much sacrifice, labour, value, effort, resources was put in all these giants.
Single destroyer of weight of 40-50 heavy tanks of that time. And that was just one of smaller warships. Then fuel, ammo and everything else.
If these weapons could fight for freedom or whatever else without human losses and suffering.
That's why we have World of warships, right? ❤
"I'm not a smart man; but I know what Live is"
As a OLD BM2 I need to correct you on the proper Naval terminology. The ice cream machine was "questionably acquired", not stolen.😈
Found Property😂. Put on books and it’s yours
Bet you there's people who don't understand just becaue she's old she can still tear shit up
You coming over to see the USS Alabama in Mobile, Alabama next???
They missed out on a moneyspinner for the museum not having that ice cream machine working.
They didn’t steal the Ice Cream Machine, they strategic took equipment to alternate locations.
I love your irl vids. Keep up the work G
And is it me or he lost a lot of weight since last year??
Been working on it, I have Hypothyroidism so losing weight is a challenge, down about 20lbs so far
@@sealordmountbatten keep up the work king 👑
USS Kidd should be a premium in WOWS. Oh wait....😂
''I play world o' warships!''
It isn't so much McD's and seed oils as it is us being overall very inactive compared to the 1960s. Especially children.
Nice ship , it had been developed by WOWS
What does the late Steve Jobs have to do with Greyhound?
It was released by Apple TV
Leeroy Jenkins!
Wow
You werent at the meet up last year sadly.
Awesome I found it lol
Ah, you guys went down the ladder backwards!😂
Most US museum ships still smell like active US warships
@sealordmountbatten The next time you are in town we should get a beer and a PoBoy or something. I can see the kid from my office :)
algorithm was broken and vid didnt show up in feeds -sad
in the mexican Navy they used Kids , talking about child soldiers xD
The vent is kinda sus xD
I fail to see where you mention the "Jolly Roger" 🏴☠️🤨
Why don't you release the BSPRM2.0 , SeaLord
Did it cost 1000 gold doubloons for that fresh premium camo?
When you going to visit USS ARIZONA and USS MISSOURI?
Gotta get to Hawaii first
does it have repaire paty in real life ?
Does, it was the small room
behind me when I first walked in
Fletcher
go see north carolina shes a beauty
for the algorythm
Every time I see a video of the insides of these ships in game I get more upset about the over pen situation in wows
It is COMPRESSED there’s very few spaces where you can stand two abreast
Kidd is a ship, you can put a boat on a ship but not a ship on a boat.
I need intelligence data!!!
The Mississippi River, not the tide. ;-)
We always refer to it as a tide, at least my dad does, and I of course picked it up from him lol
@@sealordmountbatten Interesting. I think you are from around New Iberia? Is that how they refer to it? You should join, or at least meet our Baton Rouge based clan, Cajun Navy.
@@RightOnTarget1 Southern Louisiana is about as specific as I get lol
@@sealordmountbatten Understood. ;-)
is there a reason why my first comment was taken down?
