Showing how the chords fit with the words there is sooooo helpful as I find I can play the chords to loads of songs but struggle with fitting them to the words.

"it's the end of the world as we know it" the other day. it's easier than I thought it would be.
I remember that I play this song by R.E.M. with the band at Open Door on Wednesday Morning before Lunch along with "Wonderwall" and "Half the World Away" by Oasis, "That's Entertainment" by The Jam, and a few other songs. ❤Thanks Andy great session!

Thanks so much Andy! I realize how simple this is but for me I have never been able to pick while singing. I could only strum. This is the first song I have ever been able to pick some notes while singing. This was huge for me. I am now looking for songs with notes like this while singing 😃

Could you do some Spandau Ballet? Songs like Gold and Through The Barricades simplified. And some less obvious like Lifeline and Communication.
Thanks for the lesson. Adding the little intro riff really helps. I do prefer going G - D - Am - C rather than C for two bars, and encourage other beginners to try it out as well. It just adds a little extra to that part.

Way back in the day, I played the bass part for this song in the band I was in. I'm working with a baritone ukulele now, and this song is more simple than I thought it woulds be. Good song to add to the list. The riff works pretty well off the D string, especially when you don't have an A string or low E string to worry about. 🙂

Finest Worksong might be easier. Most of the song is carried by a Bsus4 chord, with an E and F# in the chorus and an A in the bridge. There’s no real lead guitar, except for some seemingly random harmonics and guitar noises in the outro.
Man on the moon with a B minor for the barcord aint that difficult as well 🙂👍

easiest? I guess the acoustic guitar is but the lead guitar is really cool and has nice picking patterns and melodies throughout. And the lead is still very rhythmic.

@@andycrowley true, although could just use open chords. I agree though, barre chords are tough for a beginner, I’m teaching my 12 year old son guitar and that’s definitely a challenge for him! But will get there 😀
