"Son of Sam" speaks in rare TV interview: "That was not me"

- The serial killer known as "Son of Sam" is speaking out in his first major TV interview in a decade. David Berkowitz terrorized New York City in 1976 and 1977, using a .44 caliber handgun to commit random shootings. He was sentenced to more than 300 years in prison for his crimes. I’m here after “The Sons of Sam”. I was on board with some of Terry’s theories and definitely don’t think David acted alone but his downfall was his obsession. The ending. I wish he’d been alive to see at least one of his theories that people called him crazy for, be true. It WAS the security guard.

He was right about more than the security guard. I mean there was straight up an actual satanic cult that both Berkowitz and Charles Mansion mentioned on record, The Process was completely real and so were The Children. It’s just that the police deal with what they can prove in court and if they can close a case by proving one person was responsible for at least one or two of the murders they will put a bow on it and never look back most of the time.
@@DoctorSess I never said all his theories weren’t true, I just said I wish he was alive to see the security guard arrested. I don’t believe every. single. one. but most of them, yes, they can be proven. But sometimes obsession leads to insanity, whether you’re right or not. Michelle McNamara, the author of “I’ll Be Gone in The Dark” reminded me of Terry. I wish she’d been alive to see The Golden State Killer he arrested, she was so close.

I simply wish he had been alive to see that his security guard “theory” wasn’t a crazy theory, he was right. The fact that he had a copy of Terry’s book was no coincidence, he knew that Terry had been onto him.
@@mollyfoxxx yeah I was just saying he was right about more than just the security guard and the documentary seemed to suddenly down play both his credibility and the fact that some of his information had been confirmed. They just brushed it off even though there really were some actual connections between some of the dots.

He’s not acting, he’s truly remorseful. He has even rejected parole because he says he deserve to be in prison for what he did. He’s a Christian now and has a ministry to reach out to young people through presentations to talk about his testimony so that they don’t throw their life away and end up like him. It’s never good to judge people without really knowing their heart.

Religion is written by men. Many religions have been written throughout time and humans existed loooooong before the new testament 'Jesus' was ever even thought of. These books give human traits the a universe and call it God. Throughout time this idea of god and gods have changed but the writing still stands. What I wonder if how someone can read a book that approve slavery and abusing slaves... And believe this is the word of god. This is what I do not understand about people believing in religion. I suppose it is because the majority never actually sit down and read the books. To believe in anything beyond these books... As in believing in a god but not the books leaves you in the same situation as atheists. Athiests believe the universe can exist without being created. Religion believes in god can exist without being created. You can substitute any none human trait for god with universe and it is virtually the same thing. Except religion adds the human element because we are pretty damn egocentric. An all knowing god would never say or do half of what is in the NT and OT. All I had to do to not be religious was actually study religion with my own brain.
Religion is for the weak minded. Life without religion offers what religion does and more. Hope you see the light too at some point, for lack of a better phrase!
I think the guy just needed time and mental adjustment to become a good, stable person. If religion is helpful to him, great, but if it worked, then many other demented people would have healed.

Not all bible believers are religious, a good many of us are very spiritual people. Jesus himself was not even religious, and that shows in his interactions with The Pharissees, who were the epitome of religious folk - aka phonies.
You shouldn't automatically think one is religious, just because they have a firm faith in the Creator, and speak about scriptures and the power of God. Those of us who are religious understand the power of intimacy with God, while religion is about an outwardly appearance, with no personal relationship with the Lord. There is a huge difference, and a lot of us know it. You shouldn't pain all of us with such a broad brush. Peace.

Everyone before son of Sam comes out : “He’s lying straight through his teeth, he says what he wants us to hear”.
Everyone after : “He’s really one of the few people that really deserve another chance”.
Maurice Dubois disappointed me with his questions around whether Berkowitz acted alone or not. First of all he should have done a thorough research before reaching out to interview Berkowitz and desist from asking questions like " were others involved". If he wanted Berkowitz to open up about this aspect which has dogged this case for years, he should have told Berk that based on my research it appears to me that you did not act alone or I find it impossible to believe that you acted alone. He would have received far better responses than Berk's reluctance to go deep into the multiple gun man theory. THE REASON WHY Berkowitz was not willing to discuss the case with him from that angle is because he already showed Berk that as a reporter he did not do his homework and reporters who fail to do so are well "useless" for one to engage with them into something they have demonstrated to know zilch about.
They obviously aren’t going to ask the important questions that would reopen the case as that would tap into the international cult known as...

Serial killers don't work like normal people, even if there was other people there's nothing anyone can say to make him give up the fame and infamy being the son of Sam has gave him. Some serial killers get off on the publicity more than the actual killing, and I definitely think he's one of them. But also it's statistically unlikely that this kind of killer would work with someone else, these kinds of people have literally no social skills, they cannot function in society, they are loners who live in their minds playing their fantasies over non stop. It's very unlikely he's ever been close to someone in his entire life, much less close enough to tell his darkest secrets
@@amymesserschmidt2044 I think Berkowitz is not that type of serial killer though. To honest this guy dodged doing interviews with reporters for many years . His first ever televised interview was in 93 because he felt that his new faith in Christ placed an obligation upon him to tell the public what actually happened during those dark times in his life which was him basically saying that he didn't act alone and was aided in these killings by members of a satanic group he formerly belonged to. Reporters approach him for interviews not the other way around and most of the time you can see that he is visibly uncomfortable.
The media could care less about actually figuring something out. All they care about is views and engagement.
It’s sad that there was so much striking evidence of other people who partook in committing those shootings as well as other crimes that will never be held against them when you briefly touch this case on the surface. It should be there. Names of those other people who were involved as well. Sad to see that David will most likely take that to the grave as well. Even though he’s admitted that he wasn’t the only one, you can just tell how much he doesn’t want to interact or get the facts straight with that case. It’s totally crazy to me

Yes. Well, I do not think it makes a bit of sense to judge another..especially by the best or worst action of their life. This man is doing his time, doing it with a healthy attitude, he's learned a lot, come a long way and is helping others rather than harming them. I do not judge him. I'm glad he has found peace of mind and happiness. Any spiritual practice that leads to those things and to more empathy and compassion is a good thing to me.

im all for military spending. i’m all for funding to improve our vastly decaying infrastructure. im definitely for funding education. it very late in the day. its time for funding mental health. top priority. when I think of all the serial killings and rape and spousal abuse over that last 100 years it breaks my heart. since kennedy we have systematically dismantled our mental health programs to “save money”. this problem will never go away until we take it very serious. although there are some who will not benefit from intervention, its our duty as fellow humans to help as many as we can. the failure to do so leaves an example such as the above. be well😃

I'm going to tell you a TRUE story! I was a member of a Baptist church near Cincinnati, Ohio. Our church has a ministry of producing, printing and sending Gospel tracts all around the world in MANY different languages. They are free. David Berkowitz came upon one of the tracts and started writing to our Pastor. It was something Pastor mentioned from time to time, but it wasnt something all church members knew.....Pastor knew it was a sensitive subject because DB was a serial high profile killer. Of course Pastor preached "whosoever will" when it came to salvation, but some members were still offended. I dont know how long DB corresponded with our church because my family moved away.

David Berkowitz is the reason Jesus died on the cross for our sins. Better a "serial killer" truely repent and follow Christ than a lier, thief, or drunkard who does not. If he truely is born again, he will live for eternity in paradise with the Heavenly Father ! What a great God we have.

Well the new Netflix documentary lays out compelling evidence that I personally don’t discount. I would suggest watching it and see what you think. The ending is especially shocking.
