quran (9:73):__ “O Prophet! strive hard against the unbelievers and the hypocrites and be unyielding to them; and their abode is hell, and evil is the destination.”

My back hurts badly but when I heard the example that J Sai Deepak gives about the mythology, I jumped to write this comment. Reason being while I was locked up alone in a flat isolated for 4 months in Mumbai due to COVID, I used to talk to myself most of the times to come up with arguments to shut down breaking India forces and interestingly I did come up with a similar explanation for Indian mythology. Let's say Mahabharata happened 6000 years ago and Krishna lived back then, we still call him a mythological figure or Mahabharata is a mythology. Now, taking example of Jesus and Mohammed, that such people existed around 2000 years ago (we call it a history), would you still call them mythological figures 4000 years later (at a gap of 6000 years). A big NO, right? So, next time when someone exhibits their intellect, we can use this example as well that of Sai. We have abundant of scriptures that tell us the history of this land, just like what Bible and Quran tell about their's, we have enough scientific evidence of Dwarika being submerged in the sea and presence of Ram Setu, but still we don't feel confident enough to defend our position. Let's develop a spine now. It's high time.
Exactly. I have always thought the same. I believe that since our science is evolving, it is too soon to claim that Mahabharata and presence of Lord Krishna is 'mythological'. I mean humans started with painting on walls for propagating ideas and now we use Computers to type and process our thoughts. But does that negate those wall paintings? Similarly Religion used to be the science of society back then. Science is the religion today. The current era belongs to science and yet we don't possibly know in what way the scientific methodology of conducting researches into the past shall evolve.

Actually I think because some mystical things like elixir, monkeys flying , demons having a 10 heads, all these things make it not so believable that’s y it’s considered mythology story instead of reality. Feel such things weren’t there in other religions
it's not about 2000 or 6000 years or 10,000 years. Even if Mahabharata is 1000 years old, I will still call that mythology or hyper exaggerated reality ( though I respect Mahabharata for it's great messages)
Why do I call all the Puranic stories Mythology is-
(I) They are highly inconsistent with not just classical physics or basic life science but with every damn branch of science, rationality and physicality. ( Koi jameen se Paida ho Raha hai, koi Crocodile ke tears se, koi vardan se, koi Matke se, sab janwar bol rahe Hain, Nadiya Devi ke Roop me prakat ho ja rahi, koi bachcha sun ko nigal ja Raha jo Earth se lakho guna badha hai, 15 Crore Kilometer door hai, fir wo poochh se ek poore country ko Jala de Raha, hazaro bhagwan aa ja rahe aur ye sab ho Raha sirf Poori prithvi ke 30% total landmass ke 2.5% land pe... Kuch bhi...?? Matlab agar achchhi stories likhni thi, to thodha realistic look to de Diya hota, wo bhi usme maximum Sab leelae UP, Bihar me, matlab Jahan ke Valmiki, Vedvyas, Lomharsh, Ugrashra Kya sirf wahi dharti bhagwano wali karni thi, ye sab rahne wale wahi ke the, wahi pe apni stories ko bhi limit Kiya, arey pan world se Judi stories likhte tab thodha aur believable hota, ye Kya sirf India ke rivers hi sacred Hain, Devi Hain, bus yahi 2.5% land pe sare Avtar hue, Baki duniya Kahan thi.. yahi Ayodhya, Mathura, Vrindawan, Dwarka, Chitrakoot bus arey stories thodha sahi se bana lete, aur locations dalte, thodha science ki ijjat Kar liye hote..khair... isiliye Mai Puranas ko reject karta Hoon.... Matlab log ye bhi nahi soch rahe ki arey bhaiya tab eclipse ka Gyan nahi tha, ki jab sun, earth, Moon ek line me aate to Shadow ki wajah se kuch part nahi dikhta to tab ke pandito ke pas answer nahi tha to kahaniya bana di thi ki Chandra Dev ko Shrap Mila tha ki unka aakar ghatta rahega, isiliye Hamare Priy chandradev chhote bade hote rahte Hain, Matlab kuch bhi!!? Aisi hazar bakwas baate Hain Purano me.. Dharti ek Samudra pe tair rahi hai, to kabhi kachhuwe ke sar pe Bata do.. bc kuch bhi!! Aur usi ko hum ch**iye Hindus ne central position de di hai..

( ii) Puranas means " Jo Pura Kare" Kya incomplete rah Gaya tha jise complete Karne ke naam pe Purohito ne hazaro Devi devta aur jhoothi kahaniya gadh di, aur log Vedo ko Bhool, Upanishads ki philosophy ko kinare Kar ek simplistic barter system wale bhagwan ko concept ko manke rituals me lag Gaye..
( They were written/compiled by Rajpurohits in the post Mahajanpada period( Gupta/Shunga period) to dismantle monotheistic Sanatani sects, Vedic rationality and to give masses a simplistic orthodox preview of God so as to keep their authority and positions in the society intact, that's it!! )

Mai Arya Samaji, Prarthna Samaji nahi Hoon, mujhe kuch bhi label de do, I'll just say I'm a rational Hindu who believe only in 4-5 Upanishads and draw inspiration from that only. I don't need tons of stories and Pooja vidhis to lead my life. I'm happy with my own interpretation of everything. And that's what Hinduism is all about. You don't need to believe, accept and justify everything on the name of Hinduism.

But I'd also like to say that you need to detoxify (not saying that what you are saying is rational or irrational) but the way in which you have put your point through can kill anyone's interest in such a debate.
My POV is that post Vedic Hindus ka itna intellect nahi thha ki they could have imbibed Vedas and Upanishads. So to put there point through, there was the use of what you called Mythologies. "And science ki thoda ijjat kar liye hote" bhaisaab modern day science and philosophy (which originated post the European Renaissance) started somewhere post the dark Ages. Now Indian Puranas predate them by more than a millennia. Aapki galti ye hai ki aap Religious scripture ko aaj ki science ki nazar se dekh rahe ho aur jab kuch samajh nahi aa raha isliye frustrate hoke you are whining.
Bottom line - STOP LOOKING AT THE PURANAS THROUGH THE LENS OF MODERN SCIENCE (and obviously 20th-21st Century science and philosophy isn't the end of history/mankind). And aapko agar Vedas and Upanishads padhne aur samajhne hain then you have to learn classical Sanskrit (not the modern Sanskrit). Classical Sanskrit seekhne ke liye you will have to achieve Siddhi in Yoga (which obviously you can't). So most probably you'd rely on some English translation. Ek aur baat bata du ki more than 80% of classical Sanskrit hasn't been discovered yet fully.
So just like you can't get your head around the message of Vedas and Upanishads, people from say 100 BC also found it tough. Now I don't know the precise dating but the Mahabharata war had already happened way before that and Vijay Samhita (The pre Christian era Mahabharata version) had already been compiled. Bhagawat Gita, if you try to decipher, contains the teaching of earlier Upanishads in a way that was legible for the people (where Bhagwaan Krishna refers many a times to himself as the ultimate reality/consciousness i.e. Brahman).
Now jo aap aaj science padh rahe ho kal ko vo modify ho jayegi. Maybe jo aapne aaj cheezein seekhi about the Earth/Solar System etc it may become futile and your future generation will start calling you "Akhand Chutiya" and what so not. But that doesn't prove it that you actually are. You were just a product of your times. Similarly, the Puranas (whatever they taught) are symbolic of their own times and I simply wish to follow them because I feel itne rituals hain (for ex say Pitra Paksh aur Shraadh vaale time) they are being carried out for the past 2000-2500 years or so and I feel the need to connect with and pay respect to the souls of my ancestors (which have transcended into maybe another dimension) through these rituals. Ab I have a strong belief that this ritual actually means a thing that's why I follow them and also I don't need science for validation (again for the reason that modern science may be redundant in the next thousand years).
