    The loyalty to his brother is more important than the race, cheers from Spain, this are the real winners, thats the spirit of the sport, personal growth and the sportsmanship, sorry for my english!

      It is curious that you say that about a reaction as admirable as ilegal... That is not sportmanship, I rather call it cheating. And it is not the first time that these brothers go ''over'' the rules. Ask Gomez-Noya what he thinks about Olympics 2012 or European Championship 2011... Check who Wiltshire is on youtube

    Everyone, stop saying they're cheaters. Cheating is typically done in secrecy. More importantly, an intent to deceive must be present. What has happened here is heroism. One gave away his victory to help another. This is another form of winning. These kind of finishes propel popularity of the sport among general public, just as Julie Moss' finish popularized the sport of triathlon to another level. Thank you, Brownlee brothers!

    People don't seem to realise that the brother in second place didn't deserve that second place. On this occasion he failed to manage his race, went too hard when perhaps he shouldn't. Do you know who managed his race well? The who ended up in fourth place. He would've won a medal if it wasn't for the cheater brothers. There are other many other opportunities to show brotherly love which doesn't involve cheating on a race.
    Thank you, that was me speaking up for the fourth guy.

  • @pedoncarlos
    @pedoncarlos Před 7 lety +4

    It is a lovely brother story. But nothing of sportsmanship. This was the last race of the world series. Jonathan had good chances of been the world campion, but his brother none. That is why he didn´t care not winning and carried and pushed his brother. Letting him pass before him. It is nice but absolutily anti sportive for other runners. In one word that is simply cheating. Both should have been banned.

    • @qwertyfiable5069

    • @ThunderRoad1
      @ThunderRoad1 Před 7 lety +4

      It's not cheating and assistance from others is allowed in sports. Thats why an appeal did not go through. Read the rules. How is it cheating if u give up the chance to win a race? However the real story is on true sportsmanship.

    • @pedoncarlos
      @pedoncarlos Před 7 lety +1

      It is cheating if you let another racer surpassing you. It is manipulating the classificasion so he could have win the world series. I did not see something similar one month ago when they were fighting for gold medal on the Olimpics.. Here, he had no chances of winning the world series.

    • @ThunderRoad1
      @ThunderRoad1 Před 7 lety +3

      One of the runners in the event appealed to get Jon a DSQ as he got helped over the line but the ruling body ruled that athletes can be helped by fellow athletes.
      The incident has to me brought up again the question of whether these endurance races should be held in such hot weather.

    • @mylastsummers
      @mylastsummers Před 7 lety +6

      "The assistance provided by event personnel or Technical Officials is allowed but is limited
      to providing drinks, nutrition, mechanical and medical assistance, upon the approval of
      the Technical Delegate or Race Referee. Athletes competing in the same race may assist
      each other with incidental items such as, but not restricted to, nutrition and drinks after
      an aid station and pumps, tubular tires, inner tubes and puncture repair kits." I do not think that pushing someone 400 meters long during running is allowed by this rule.

    • @kevtrader
      @kevtrader Před 7 lety +1

      The International Triathlon Union is the governing body for Triathlon and it was them who said athletes could help fellow athletes in the dismissal of the appeal. According to them pushing someone for 400 meters to the finish line is allowed.
      I have seen the same thing happen in marathons and the athlete who was being helped out by a fellow athlete wasn't disqualified.
