Atlanta Police have released bodycam and dashcam footage showing the moments leading to the fatal shooting of Rayshard Brooks in a Wendy's parking lot.
The shooting happened late Friday night at the fast food restaurant on University Avenue.
This is the first 42-minutes of the 1 hour, 23 minute video from the body cam of Officer Devin Brosnan. The name of a person not involved in this incident has been removed from the audio track. The rest is unedited.

I'm a so called black man from Chicago. Coming up, I've witnessed alot of true injustice, so it would be easy for me to say that these officers need to be fired, arrested, etc. for killing this man. But after watching this all the way thru, this brotha got himself shot, and that's the bottom line. He didn't deserve to die, and I hate that it happened, but his actions lead to his demise. The officer getting fired was a political decision fueled by the George Floyd tragedy. I'm in no way saying that there isn't systematic racism in this country, or that police brutality/ murder doesn't exist. What I am saying is that so many of us fall right into the trap. It's time for victimhood to cease, we have to be accountable as well as responsible for our actions and the consequences for those actions. I'm tired of this feel sorry for me, I'm black mentality. That is not the way, I'm raising my son on GODS principles, be accountable, honest, honorable, have integrity, character so on and so forth. That is the way. Respect yourselves so called black people, understand the root of the challenges we are facing begins with looking in the mirror, and understanding we were created in GODS likeness and image. All of this madness is a trick of the enemy, keeping all of us distracted. So called white people, and so called black people are being lied to. There is a hidden hand here in America and it's time to stop falling for the trickery.

I have had interactions with police after drinking. The cops were always professional. The impulse tonfight them or run never once crossed my mind, even as i knew i was about to be arrested.

This seemed like such a friendly interaction and it ended tragically. Rayshard apologised, he was polite and showed respect to the officers. I'm not sure what went through his head when he grabbed the taser. Just tragic.
Everyone should watch this before saying ANYTHING about the case.

Watching the entire stop: The call was initiated by a concerned citizen dialing 911. The first officer responded and was more than EXTREMELY PATIENT with the suspect. The man had no business driving out of that parking lot, and was without question under the influence of alcohol and what else before (IMPAIRED) the encounter. Whether or not the suspect was mentally capable or not is not known for sure. When he began to fight the officers he then clearly intended to flee no matter what, or whoever was in his way. The Police officers today are under unbelievable scrutiny and critique. If any suspect will injure maim or kill a L.E. officer then they are a danger to EVERYONE in the community, not just the police. That means if they would kill an officer while in the performance of their duties, then they would run over and kill any citizen that got in their way. The police are not punching bags and targets for anyone to take out their vengeance on. If you fight and try to kill or maim a police officer then get ready fall to the ground.
The officers were calm and respectful to Brooks the whole time right up until he resisted arrest 🤦🏻♂️

I get the man did wrong but I just don’t understand how people think that justifies death when 1. It’s still a misdemeanour, and Death sentence by law is not the polices job, they are neither judge or a court and pedophiles don’t even get killed after trial! 2. There are other avenues to reprimand him such as chasing him in car (he wasnt going to get very far in his state and on foot, let’s be realistic) and they had his information, they could track him down. Why take a person like it’s bad policing and so unethical.

Rayshard got himself shot when he tried to take the weapon away from the police. If a white man did that, I would expect him to be shot, too. In fact, if I did that, I would expect to be shot even if I was black-out drunk like he was. Not to mention, that cop sounded incredibly polite. The police handled it the best way they could, although, ideally, it never should have happened. Any (almost any) loss of human life is terrible, but the police had no other option.
sadly he was too clever for his own good. he knew if he would run away they just taze him in the back. he signed his death warrant at the moment he shot the stun-gun to prevent the second officer from using his with correct aim.
There have been dozens and dozens of incidents like this one, where the ending is influenced due to the person's race. I know people do not like the race card- but it is what it is.

He was on felony probation for DV at the time, so he was probably not that nice of a guy. Plus, since he was on probation, a trip to the drunk tank would most likely become a trip back to prison.

That's like saying after a person shoots one bullet when they only have one bullet, they can't be killed cause the gun is no longer a threat. This is truly sad that this is his last moments on this Earth he seemed like a really decent guy. I understand people get scared but it just wasn't worth this they knew who he was they're going to catch up to you anyway you're turning something that you can work on in court you're not going to go to prison over this. All he had to do was just comply and none of this would have ever have happened it's truly sad
He likely was going to prison though, as he was on felony probation charges for 9+ years of crimes. Driving drunk is a violation of his probation. Still, it would have been much better to accept this and hope for a break, than to fire a weapon at two officers.

Im a colored person and i call out injustice when i see it but this cop had more patience than most i see. Aint no cop going to just leave without finding out why the guy is just sleeping. Is it drugs or alcohol, theyre gonna want to find out for the publics safety. This cop did the right thing. Its not about race if a cops only doing his job and is the one who gets shot at first. They're human beings also and have kids and families who they also want to go home to. I pray he is cleared

I'm sad to read that the officers were so aggressively criticized for this. They were so nice to this man and then he turned violent on them.
Atlanta is mostly black, so the Atlanta media panders to them. When a black person is killed by the cops because they bring it on themselves by putting the cops in danger, the Atlanta media will portray the cops as murderers that killed a black person for no reason. That Wendy's was burned to the ground by people that buy into the media's narrative as payback for calling the cops on Brooks. The Atlanta media seemed to have a "They deserved it" attitude when reporting on the destruction of that Wendy's.
The movie "Two distant strangers" on netflix, the end credits states Rayshard Brooks was shot and killed because he was sleeping in his car.. wtf. Did they not watch this video? Fyi, I never want anyone to get shot or killed, so lets put that aside, it was a tragedy still. He did not just sleep in his car, he was drunk and driving a motorized vehicle and then went nuts just before getting shot.
When you watch this whole video it makes you realize how quickly things can turn bad.

David Brinkley I feel as though police are qualified to make a judgement call on a situation. Had he moved into the spot the first time and seen that he’d fallen asleep the threat would have been neutralized. He would’ve fallen asleep for long enough to sober up and he wasn’t hurting anyone sleeping there for a while. It shouldn’t be all jail time and punishments. Alternative solutions work. However this ended up going a very different way.

The first officer on the scene was very polite. The other officer off the back was an A hole. You have 2 fully trained officers with a baton, pepper spay, and a taser gun...against an unarmed man. Use them..the gun should be your last resort. Officers are trained in hand to hand combat at the academy. So there is no excuse to discharge firearm on an unarmed man.
