If the battery is fully ignited, you need a fire extinguisher. This is to prevent full ignition and in the worst-case scenario an - explosion

Pro tip. Make sure the fire extinguisher have a Type C for battery fire
Video before this one I just watched said class D, figured I’d play devils advocate since now there’s multiple perspectives going around
this just got interesting
The only thing i would think of would be an electrical fire- fire extinguisher.
For those unaware there are multiple types of extinguishers because certain sources can react badly to different methods.
For example liquid based fire needs a dry powder suppression.
Electrical fires need non-conductive suppression. (Server rooms actually use a gaseous suppressant that removes all the oxygen from a space rapidly. Since it's a gas it only needs to be vented out, rather than cleaned)

Me walking casually on the streets and phone battery starts smoking. Taking my emergency bucket with sand in it from my backpack. Life savior.
Also, if the battery is plugged into a power source, secure the power source by any means necessary. If you gotta hit the breaker, do that.

When I did this in 5th grade, I shoved it under the faucet, straight into the battery. Then my teacher put it in a tissue box and threw it in the dumpster.

@@aimanfitri0iv lithium ion batteries don't contain enough lithium metal to cause an issue with water. Flood the thing and dispose of it properly after its done burning out and cooled off

Never use water, lithium reacts with water. It might work in small batteries if lithium concentration is low but you shouldn't use water.

Bro, I'm pretty sure no one has ever thought of BENDING THE BATTERY WHILE IT'S ON FIRE.
Sand and dirt is a really good idea. It extinguishes fire quickly and completely safe.
Had this happen to me once years ago when I tried replacing the battery of my iPhone 6s myself. The pull tabs ripped and I stupidly tried prying the battery out which caused it to bend too much and boom, fire. Fire went out within a couple of minutes and then took the phone to a repair shop. They just replaced the battery and camera and it was fully working again.
I remember like a week ago my battery had expanded and i didn't know then i was in the dining room and it exploded thankfully only the table was damaged but it was on fire. The worst part was that i was alone
this man bent the battery and punctured the battery even when its dangerous

Anakin Skywalker: This is outrageous, it’s unfair
Bro first thing you made me a begginer with changing screens in any phone
Sand is good, but salt works well for fire suppression as well and may be easier to find inside a house. It has a lower melting point than sand, so it absorbs more energy via phase change without heating up as much if the fire is excessive. If the salt melts it also forms a better barrier against oxygen to smother fires. Of course you need a steel, cast iron, ceramic, or glass container to have any hope of containing molten salt safely if the fire is that bad...
Me : throws phone at neighbors house
The fact that the guy in the glitchy ass video still had the battery plugged in.. 💀
“What do you do if your battery catches on fire?”
Me: Your battery can catch on fire?!
The way it works is that Oxygen causes the chemical reaction to spark a "fire", so the sand is to suffocate it, i have alot of drone (quadcopter) batteries and when they are about to die i always puncture them so the reaction starts then leave it in a bucket of saltwater or sand so it dies out.

Lipo fires are self oxidising as such a standard extinguisher will typically not be effective. Once started there is very little you can do apart from the sand trick and preventing it catching anything else on fire. Ideally the bucket would be metal as the plastic ones can catch fire or melt. Also try not to inhale the smoke…
While it is burning, Put it in your hand, always works
This always happens to me bro. Thx

Can i use dry loose soil, like those used in gardening, as an alternative?
Run. That’s my advice!
He be like:idont want peace i want problaaaaaaamsss...
jack sparrow: did u say jar of sand my friend I GOT IT
palce it on top of the sand, when you mix the sand the battery is on the bucket floor and melt trough the plastic
Also make sure the container is made of metal not plastic, like a biscuit tin or a paint can.
When i was a tech we had a huge box full of sand, never had to use it while i worked there but we had some messed up batteries come through that totally could have exploded at any moment.
When I broke my last phone and pulled it out of it's case, I realized it was almost too hot to handle, and was worried a short may have started some kind of runaway thermal reaction. Since I was in a hurry to be somewhere, I left it in a large pot on the stove for most of the day, with someone home to respond if it did decide to spontaneously combust.
In the aftermath of the 1906 San Francisco Earthquake, fires broke out all over the town, due to the lack of readily accessible water, firefighters and volunteers filled buckets of dirt and sand to put out the fires
How do u know if we have enough time to go out side or out the front and get a bucket and chuck sand in there when soon as u get inside your house is literally on fire
Once a battery becomes unstable, remove it from your house, garage etc. While you can temporarily reduce the burning and smoking by burying it in dirt/sand, but; until the instability that cause the fire is ended, that battery will catch fire again if exposed to air. Look into the auto carrier ship that caught fire. A number of hybrid/EV cars caught fire days after the primary fire was put out. Those cars had to be handled very carefully. The new battery fires cannot be simply put out by burying them. That only ends the fire temporarily. With RC plane/car LIPOS the first step is recognizing the potential fire hazard (Puffy Battery is KEY indicator OR any significant damage to the battery cover. First step is removing all charge. Normally that is by immersing the battery in a large container of salty water to safely discharge the battery. Connectors need to be cut off one at a time before doing so to help the water contact and discharge the battery. PS Fire Departments do not have an effective solution yet to EV/Hybrid vehicle battery fires. MANY Are just making the area safe and letting it burn itself out.
Tl;Dr DONT throw water on it, just try to suffocate it out by covering it with anything that wont melt or burn so it runs out of air. Honestly putting it in a pan and covering the pan with a lid (that doenst have holes and that pans not on) will work fine, but you will ruin the pan
Remember that his examples are on empty battery's, if you do any of this with some full battery you get way more trouble
bro im watching this while my phone is charging
I remember once i was repairing a Samsung, battery had swollen up so much that it couldn't be removed. I put on a ventilator and stabbed it, to alleviate the pressure. It set it on fire however the craziest part is it worked, pressure was alleviated and I got the battery out, replaced it, and used the repaired phone for a couple of years till I had my own
As an alternative to sand a completely metal dish can work as well - in a pinch an empty stainless steel pot + lid should contain most things but you might wanna consider buying a new one afterwards
Before disposing battery in a dustbin keep it submerged in salt water for 2-3 days it will cause it to discharge and then puncture it.
Will a jar of dirt work?
Most of the time it explode while charging.
Its very rare to see batery combusted while in ordinary use even gaming.
put some water on it
Yeah I keep a box of sand with me where ever I go
I remember wen I first started replacing my own battery/screen first time I took off the glue with a plastic tool second time didn’t have a plastic tool so I used a box cutter razor. I was so unexperienced I thought it was freak accident then did some research and understood lmao pretty cool learning experience
