Curious if anyone has heard of the correlation between the wheel being really out of alignment causing the break and battery light to come on? Ive only read of one person saying that it can also cause these lights to stay on.
I hit a pothole pretty hard and my alignment is very bad. If I let go of the wheel it does a sharp left turn.
When I put the car on the trailer power steering fluid leaked everywhere including the alternator. Maybe It possibly shorted it out? I checked every fuse and cleaned every ground. The brake and battery light stays on unless I rev the engine it goes away. I know for sure that its not the battery. Car has 212k on it so its most likely the alternator. I just replaced the starter.
Just sucks that I have to go through all of this crap just to remove the alternator. Oh well I guess, I just need to get this fixed asap.
I cant drive it more than 5 miles before it goes into limp mode.
I will have the alternator tested of course before I purchase a new one. Plus I rather have the core refunded right away.
If for whatever reason it isnt the alternator, then could it be that the tow is so negative on the driver's side. I have an awd G35X so maybe its more sensitive with the sensors in the front? Hopefully it is the alternator though.
If for whatever reason it turbs out to be good, Ill try to remind myself to update this comment. Just in case someone else runs into the same problem.
Whatever I hit, it was a hard impact. Because my whole plastic tire well liner is completely gone. Also my front license plate fell off too. I think I hit a damn pothole since they are a plague in the city I live in. Its dangerous when they are on the highway and you hit one going highway speeds. All I know is that it was late at night so It caught me off guard. I hit it pretty hard and as soon as my front wheels made contact with the highway it pulled me into the wall where I was barely able go save it from getting scratched all to hell. It did get my side mirrors though.
I made a complaint to the city, I doubt they will patch it right away. Im also certain that Im not the only person to fall victim to this damn pothole either.
I will now avoid that lane altogether. I checked the suspension and nothing appears to be bent. So Im not sure why the tow is so negative? The whole wheel is maybe an inch from contacting the fender. I will take care of that issue another day. I just need to get the car to run without those lights staying on. They go away when I accelerate, but then itll suddenly go into limp mode. Its quite frustrating, I wish that I had a way to test the alternator while its still in the car. I wonder if my obdII scanner can detect any voltage readings? I never checked but it does give all kinds of reading though. I use this app called Torque, Im going to see if does. It should be showing how many volts? Ill just look that up, Im really not trying to remove this alternator unless I absolutely have to.
