The reason Shulk and Rex are free from the flame clock but their kids aren't is kinda easy to miss due to needing to notice a tidbit of info after talking to Linka after maxing out her affinity.
Basically she mentions that most people were absorbed by the 2 worlds merging but a few people were spared from it. Basically Glimmer and Nickol were in the endless rebirth cycle because they were absorbed by the merge. This is likely what happened to the other XB1/XB2 main characters we don't see in XB3.
From what I can tell, there are 4 groups in Aionios.
1, those trapped in the endless death/rebirth cycle (Keves & Agnus)
2, people born after the merge so they age normally (City folk)
    3, Moebius
4, Those who were not absorbed by the merge so time has essentially stopped for their bodies (Shulk, Rex, Melia, Nia, Riku).
The only characters who don't visibly age are either Moebius related or are characters from XB1/XB2 who were spared from the merge, this also likely includes Linka and Panacea who are implied to be the children of Zeke/Pandora and Reyn/Sharla with the former referencing Zeke during the "Linka's birthday" quest and telling Rex "You know what he's like" implying she remembers him from before the merge. And also Riku who pretty much straight up says he's one of Rikis kids.
This is also why Riku is in both the DLC and main game and why Melia recognises him when they meet again.
Sorry for the wall of text but I hope that clears things up a little.

The "Philadelphia" reference goes even further than just name dropping a real life location. In Xenogears, the ship seen at the intro cinematic is called the Eldridge, which is classified as a Philadelphia-class colony ship in the Xenogears lorebook Perfect Works.
This is further a reference to real life hoax about the "Philadelphia experiment" that was purported to have been attempted on the USS Eldridge, a US Navy destroyer, that would have made the ship invisible.

The thing w/ Shulk and Rex not telling Nikol and Glimmer who they really are is:
Nikol and Glimmer are part of the endless cycle of death and rebirth via the Flame Clocks, so they don't understand the concept of families and parents. Just think back to how the main party from the main game reacted seeing people in The City and the process of birth and reproduction. So they would have no idea what Shulk and Rex are talking about. It would just confuse them even more and that would present another set of problems that aren't the main priority right now - which is trying to defeat Alpha and reclaim Origin.
Shulk and Rex are well aware of this, that's why they settle for just trying to be strong mentor figures who try to guide them towards the right path (Rex scolding Glimmer over her rash behavior, putting everyone in danger in the process) and bond with them over similar interests (Shulk and Nikol chatting and sharing ideas over mechanics and electronics.) And then, when the time is right, because they already know at this point they're most likely going to join A to keep Origin running properly in Alpha's absence. They'll pass on their life force to Nikol and Glimmer, who will carry on their work alongside Panacea and Linka w/ the Liberators and The City, and they'll eventually figure it out for themselves.

    • @Boulder7685
      @Boulder7685 Před rokem +7

I don't think that's intentional or even true honestly. Malos had his due pushed together and forward in the center, whereas Rex's rode off to the side much more reminiscent of Addam, his predecessor.
Zanza proper in 1 had the same short hair as Shulk, but I could see it being interpreted as in line with the Klaus we met in 2, though I would not classify him as being Shulk's enemy in any sense of the word. Especially when even Shulk clearly sees Klaus as a different person from Zanza going from the way he spoke of them in the visions they saw in Origin (worded vaguely to avoid spoilers but if you know you know).

As for why the kids were solders that has to do with the fact that the base game in a sidequest they tell you Mobius only used people under 20 origin data as they were easier to manipulate , mind wipe, brainwash and control then someone with more life experience and since their kids got sucked up into Origin it only makes sense they would pop up as solders sooner or later,

Also I do think it makes for an interesting relationship between all of the kids and their parents, they want to spend time with them but they don’t want to indulge in their own desires by dumping their whole connection on the kids

I think if there was a little more bonding it'd be great, but what we got was good. There was a lot that was implied that came across just in body movement, looks, etc. (Like Glimmer running to them in the end, looking and being concerned). Riku isn't confirmed to be Riki's son, as his description of his daddypon being a travelling companion of Melia's also fits with Kino from Future Connected making him either Riki's son or his grandson. Kino being Riku's father actually makes a bit more sense as Riku and Kino are both a very similar shade of green, whereas none of Riki's blood-related children shown are green as they are either yellow like Riki or pink like his wife Oka and Kino was said to be adopted according to his sister Nene in FC.

I actually think Riku might be Kino’s kid. All he says is that his dadapon adventured with Melia which could be Kino. Yes Riki had a million kids so it’s possible but I lean towards Kino. And not that colors seem to matter as far as Nopon but he is closer to Kino in that regard, and Riku being similar to Riki was probably Kino paying tribute to his adoptive father. I could be mistaken but I believe Kino also built his own ether canon and Riki never really came across as tech saavy so it would make more sense that he inherited that from Kino.

They actually do explain in the game that it was basically random chance that Origin put some people into the time clock system and not others (It was told by either Linka or Panacea at one point) but I'm still really confused why Rex and Shulk are around but not any of the other party members like you guys said, and also how so much time has passed in the world of Aionios (Enough time for N to have great grand kids) but Rex and Shulk have only aged around 20 years. I was kind of hoping for those things to be explained but they never were, other than that I really enjoyed the DLC!
It also took me a while to realise but I'm really happy that basically the whole ending of 3 is them returning the worlds back to normal so in a way the endings of 1 and 2 are still canon in that the characters of 1 and 2 got to live out their lives happily (Although I'm not sure how/if the worlds combining again at the end of the credits would affect that if at all)

while i don't know about the time disparity, it's implied from Riku's affinity conversation that the other important xenoblade 1 and 2 characters were absorbed by origin and the metal that contained their memories and souls was used to forge Lucky Seven so that's why they aren't around. or at the very least thats how i took it

This had a David Lynch type feel in that, you show but don’t tell and never explain. Once you explain, most of the fun and mystery is gone - not saying outright allows people to continue to theorise about characters and locations.
I also get the impression from the dialogue that both Rex and Shulk have seen their children die in this world - Rex mentions about how a parent shouldn’t outlive their child - and they use this “chance” of seeing them again to give them a chance at a full life.

8:13 it was explained by Linka that the Liberators are the survivors of Bionis and Alrest after the two worlds merged into Aionios. That's why they're not bound to the Flame Clocks. Nikol and Glimmer are reincarnations of Shulk and Rex's offsprings because of Origin.

  • @artemis2227

So I finished Linka's community last night and she mentions how some people, like her, Shulk, Rex, and Panacea, were not entered into the cycle and were brought straight into Aionios for unknown reasons and unknown as to how. I'm guessing it was a failsafe in Origin or maybe something Alvis did before he lost his conscience, or maybe Pneuma did it and thats why shes AFK in crystal because she used all her power to bring in people that could hopefully fix the world. I'm guessing this is why they don't age too, like Melia and Nia.
Also, about why Shulk and Rex are there but not the other characters from previous games are, I think we don't hear about what happened to the other characters because of how they weren't brought in to Aionios for whatever reason. They were probably just chilling in their respective worlds, living their lives, and now they're probably in the cycle, somewhere - or too old for it and just in digital Ark retirement. Or actually in Lucky 7, for the XC1 party.

To clear up some story confusion at the beginning.
It was explain in the main game that Origin is a data storage for everyone’s soul so that they’ll be recreated once the worlds reunite.
Moebius hijacked the data in order to revive people to fight in their endless war, which includes Rex and Shulk’s kids and probably every other past characters.
Now, what makes Rex and Shulk different is that they were among a group of people who entered Origin in order to fix all of its problems (Alpha, Moebius, etc), rather than being recreated. So they’re not affected by the rules of Aionios since they came from their home world and are essentially immortal.
Other people that did this were Melia, Nia, Riku, Panacea, etc.

    • @rvaisse
      @rvaisse Před rokem

Rex Melia Shulk Nia are those who build Origin the way it is, so they probably have admin rights to the system, explaining why they aren’t affected by the endless now.

The plan for origin was to have it assimilate everyone, which basically meant it would absorb them and convert them into data which it could then reproduce into a person. Origin would survive the annihilation of the two world and then recreate them using the data it has. It seems to me like it had gotten through with 99.9% of the job, most people were assimilated including some major characters like Fiora, Zeke, Riki etc, however some key figures like Shulk, Rex, Melia, Riku and Nia, stayed behind to overlook the process. Before origin could assimilate those few remaining characters, the anxiety of the people within origin manifested into Moebius and Z was born. Z created the eternal now which slowed the flow of time to a crawl, indefinitely delaying the annihilation of the world. The result was those few characters who didn’t make it into origin are being affected by time at a miniscule fraction of it's normal speed. By the time future redeemed has happened, N has experienced several cycles as a kevesi soldier, at least a few decades have passed since the eternal now started and yet Rex and Shulk haven't aged accordingly because in real time not even a moment has passed. This is why Riku doesn’t age at all between the DLC and the main game. He was one of the ones who wasn’t assimilated, so he isn’t experiencing time the way those born into Aionios are. Normally, Nopon do age, they aren't eternal, and they age faster than high entia. It's only the Nopon Archsage who is basically immortal. It can be assumed that the other legendary nopon blacksmiths (with the hammers) are the same as they collectively forged lucky seven alongside Melia and were probably involved with crafting origin itself.

Since X and Saga have contradicting backstories I'm predicting the next step is gonna be a saga reboot rather than a remake or remaster, that way they can recontextualize the saga story to fit in with X and the main trilogy. I think one of the biggest missed opportunities from a musical standpoint was not playing "Exploration" during the cave segments of the game. We already have the main battle theme of Xenoblade Chronicles 1 playing near Colony 9, so having the alternate battle theme from 2 (seeing as the main battle theme was already in 3 with Ino's sidequest) would have been a really nice touch.
Also, unless I'm mistaken, the Unique Monster theme playing against Shulk and Rex during Niqol and Glimmer's required sidequest was the only time the theme played during s story segment. I found that fascinating since the Unique Monster themes of 1 ans 2 would occasionally play during the story segments of those games, but never seemed to do so at any point in 3. It playing against Shulk and Rex seemed like a nice callback there.

As explained by Linka the reason why Riku, Shulk, Rex, Linka, Panacea, and even Melia and Nia are alive and not aging at all is because when Aionios was formed they were not assimilated into the system. From that is easy to deduce that since Moebius froze time they also got stuck at the ages they had at the time Origin was activated. Why did it happen? Does it really matter? Aionios shouldn't exist to begin with, but if that could happen anything else could have gone wrong. I think that we might see these characters come back. Before watching this I thought that the Xenoblade Chronicles series was officially over now that the arc was finished. However, now that you pointed out that Monolithsoft is connecting the Xeno series as a whole, I feel like that we will either get a Xenoblade 4 in the start of a new saga, or a new Xeno series that encapsulates the Xeno series as a whole. With all the questions left and characters like Mythra’s child not being shown, I think there is room for a new story. In a perfect world, we would get Mythra’s kid as part of the new party in a subsequent game. I think that how vaguely the story addressed that past characters is leaving room for addressing it in the future. They don’t address the time skip from 1/2 to 3 because I think it leaves room to explore it in a future game. I know the previous Xeno games never really got the intended conclusions, so their sequels could be addressed in a climactic, Endgame style series. I’ll shoot my shot here, despite not saying all of this is guaranteed, I think we can get a new story where the party is made up of characters from Gears, Saga, and Blade. I would absolutely LOSE IT if that happened. I think it’s a little more possible than a pie in the sky hope, but right now it’s my game idea that’s unlikely but is my copium now that my favorite game series is over.

26:33 It's funny, because half the party of the DLC can be traced back to Rex. Over half even, when you finish the main story.

Glimmer and Mio/M being Rex's daughters
Noah/N being his son in law
      Ghondor being his grandson.
Matthew being his great great grandson.
Not to mention 3 of the houses in the city in the main game all being descendants of him, 4 if the theory of Nikol and Glimmer getting together is true.
Rex's bloodline really shine through in this game.

I loved the DLC, I spent like 10 hours on the main campaign and then an additional 10 hours or so (so far) in post-game (superbosses). Glad I also unlocked Shulk & Rex for the main game (although sad they aren't playable in it). The DLC is how I wished the story had been for the main Xenoblade 3 game haha

As much as I’m desperate to know I do actually like that they don’t just explicitly explain what happened after 1 & 2 and how everyone got to this point. They give us hints and puzzle pieces that have major implications. But doing the fan service in this way lets it still feel like a piece of XBC3 and not just a direct follow up to 1&2.

I don't think there are that many unanswered questions in Future Redeemed. They don't have a concise metaphysical explanation for every little detail, but its not like that's necessary for the story. My explanation for why Shulk and Rex are as they are is because Aionios is a world stopped in time. The people in the cycle are those who were children (roughly around 10 years old) when the worlds collided. Everyone was saved to Origin as data but only the children were part of the forever war reincarnation cycle. So everyone else just stayed stored inside Origin. But there were some exceptions. It's not explained why, but some people remained on the ruined world of Aionios, being Shulk, Rex, and the rest of the liberators, who are people from Alrest and Bionis. Shulk, Rex, Linka, Panacea, etc existed as they are simply because they were older when the worlds combined. As for why they don't age, time is standing still in Aionios, so it follows that the liberators would never age as their time is also standing still. This also applies to the Nopon. This explains why Riku survives for a thousand years. If anything, Riku surviving so long is the proof of my theory. This does raise some weird questions though. Why aren't any liberators still alive in the base game? You'd think the city would have some, since two of the liberators were founders. It's possible they simply died in battle. It's also possible that having children removed their ability to be effectively immortal.
Also I don't think the scene that took place in Klaus's world was supposed to tie all the Xeno games together. I feel it was just there for easter eggs. While it does reference all the other Xeno games (Gears, Saga, and XCX), there are too many contradictions for those games to slot in within the Xenoblade chronology. And considering Takahashi loves to reuse elements of his previous games in Xenoblade, it's safe to assume these are just easter eggs

The council of 13 and Dimitri Yruiev are direct existances that are heavily involved in the plot of xenosaga though. there is also the fact that the radio IS LABBELD VECTOR INDUSTRIES that is the main company the protagonist from xenosaga worked with. The end cutscne where You see a light falling also lines up Perfectly with xenosagas end credits. if that ISNT ENOUGH Bandai namco and Xenosaga Are DIRECTLY CREDDITED in the credits and the software Description. THis is purely just a xenosaga connection, it is TOO founded in the reality we see before us to be "just easter eggs". I remember when some people said "ontos is not alvis guys you are smoking crack" when xenoblade 2 came out in 2017, and man, did they get egg on their Face.

@@Paradox1012 I'm actually baffled that people who think its just easter eggs are being compared to people who didn't think Ontos was Alvis. It's not comparable because Ontos obviously was Alvis. There was no contradiction in that theory because it was so obvious. There are blatant contradictions between Xenosaga and Xenoblade. The experiment that caused earth to be lost was done by Grimoire Verum, not Klaus. And Dimitri Yuriev was not born on earth. The "reality" is that there are contradictions that are way too blatant, that it obviously can't be anything more than an easter egg, unless they want to make massive retcons. As for why Bandai and Xenosaga are credited, probably because of the use of the Vector logo, which is likely considered the property of Bandai Namco

Xenoblade FR is a great conclusion to the Klaus Saga, but I still need a Xenoblade 0 as a game (visual novel would be great), or an OVA, or maybe a Xenoblade Warriors exploring all the memories stored inside Origin. I have the theory that Xenoblade was an "eternal recurrence" (reboot) of the Xenosaga universe (with itself being a Xenogears reboot), explaining why Vector, Dimitri Yuriev and the savorite/Salvator exist in Klaus' era in a sightly different, yet similar circumstances, and why KOS-MOS and T-elos exist as Blades, with the former having all the data from the Low Orbit Stations (Rhadamanthus, Aeacus and Minos), and Shion is reborn as Astelle in XB2. Also, I think Noah and Mio are personifications of the powers of animus and anima of the original world which was split apart during Klaus' Experiment, hence why they want to reunite and be whole again now that Klaus and Galea are gone.
Also, the Ouroboros formed during the battle with Alpha is pretty similar to the original Ares concept art from X. I truly hope they continue X's story arc now that the Klaus arc is finished, as I suspect X was a glimpse of the future of the series following the ending of 1 (humanity and other forms of life walking towards the future hand in hand).
