Wow what a finish. As a Quinnipiac alumni I can’t be more proud of what this group did, and what Pecknold has done since he took the program to D1 back in 99. He’s had the program knocking on the door since that first championship game back in 2013 vs Yale (which we should have won) so it’s very sweet to finally get it done - especially in a sudden death OT winner. Go Bobcats!!
as someone who didn't start following college hockey until the 2015-16 season I'm curious why you say they should have beat Yale, didn't they lose 3-0? I know shot count does not tell the whole story but I looked and it was pretty even. Regardless- Congrats on finally breaking through.
What a heck of a month for Connecticut collegiate sports. First the Connectuct Huskies in division 1 basketball, and now the Quinnipiac Bobcats(Hamden CT) win the Frozen 4 division I title. Connecticut proud.
Totally agree and especially for a state that doesn't have a professional team. Now there needs to be a second parade🎉🎉👍!
And the Hartford Wolf Pack clinched their first Calder Cup playoff berth in eight years last night too!

I'm s huge Minnesota hockey fan. I have to tell you, that Quinnippiac coach is a brilliant, brilliant coach. Reminds me of Herbie Brookes, total genius. Quinnippiac deserved that win. It was an epic win. I'm devastated. But reality is reality.

That play actually took only eight seconds, because two seconds ran off the clock and they didn't reset it.
@@71dupuis I was confused about that myself until I replayed it and saw the puck went into the Quinnipiac bench after the initial faceoff, so there wasn’t a legitimate reason to reset the clock.

Motzko was a total fool to leave Faber on the bench. One of the best teams the Gophers had in years yet he leaves three soon to be NHL players sit to start that OT. He should have been fired.

Gophers played the NFL prevent defense instead of their overpowering offense in the third and it cost the title. Congrats to Quin, but that trophy needs to be with any of our 6 teams in MN every year

I hate a 2 - 1 - 2 in neutral ice.... but I love it when team beats talent. Makes me happy for all the coaches out there trying to get their kids to buy into team hockey.
The gophers iced the puck and played dump and chase. The coach saw they were tiring a good opportunity to put in a set play wich they said they practiced hundreds of times. Outplayed and outcoached well deserved win by the better team.

With this school being in my home state, as well as being my uncle’s alma matador, go Bobcats! Big winter sports season for Connecticut! UConn with basketball, and Quinnipiac with ice hockey, this is just big! I am mainly a Husky fan, but it was still good to see a team closer to my hometown than UConn win this.

“We got a Natty!” We sure do. We used to have to drive to Boston if we wanted to watch some quality college hockey, or maybe wait for a good team to come play Yale every other year. Now little old QU, or shall I say the QC Braves, they are the champions of college hockey. I just wish my gramps, who took me to all those games and ended up working at QU’s new barn, was here to witness it all.
Let’s go QU! With this school being in my home state, my uncle graduated from here. I was happy that they won. However, I am more of a sports fan with UConn and Yale. Also Sacred Herat as that is my dream school. Hopefully UConn wins eventually! But for now, even though it is the new season, it’s your time to shine Quinnipiac.

I walked out of scheels arena after the gophers punched their ticket to the frozen four, and I had promised a goofer fan they’d lose in the natty to Quinnipiac. He got butthurt and started yelling in front of his 10 y/o son. Wonder where he is now?

Motzko left the best defenseman “Faber” on the bench. Real smart move coach….not!! I would have fired him before he got on the plane. There’s a reason St Cloud was glad he left.
That winning coach is the luckiest guy alive right now after gambling to pull his goalie very early late in the game and call a time out to design a play to even the score and win in only 10 seconds in to O.T. Now, he can go home to celebrate w/ his beautiful wife.

Big helper goes to the official who gave the Bobcats a man advantage with under five minutes left in regulation. Who calls a penalty late in the game of a national championship? Answer: A ref who thinks he should influence the game.

A penalty is called when there is an infraction.
Tell the Minnesota player to keep his stick on the ice. That was about as blatant as it gets for a high sticking penalty, and was by no means a questionable call. Would’ve been more rigged if the officials didn’t call it. The correct answer to your question is: an official who calls a fair game. I don’t care if it’s 5 minutes into a game or 57 minutes. A penalty is a penalty period.
