I was in complete shock the way this game turned around after Quinnipiac made it a 2-1 game, unreal effort by the whole Quinnipiac group. Congrats!
I’m a QU student and basically our entire student body was at the local bar tonight for the watch party. The roof almost came down that’s how crazy the place went! Proud to be a Bobcat tonight, absolutely amazing feeling! Roll Cats…national champions!

@@ryangodard7993 He meant 2 to 1 Gophers lead. Hell it was 2 to 0 Gophers. Gophers took their foot off the gas tried to play prevent hockey. Thats foolish coaching by Motzko against a defensive team like Quinn and extra foolish when the Minn roster was stacked with offensive firepower.
@@tylerolson5860 Yes. Absolutely silly a coach would play that way...take his team out of their style and play scared hockey. I get trying to be defensive, but you can't go into a shell and have all 5 guys back. It's a proven disaster. Playing a team like Quinnipiac really makes teams struggle because they just can't play their game very much at all.
As a Q-Pac grad and avid college hockey fan, I'm beyond thrilled!! So deserving of Rand and his team!!

After their previous championship losses to Yale and North Dakota, this Bobcat victory was well worth waiting for. The great hockey program they have built over the past 15 years has finally paid off with a well deserved win.

Michigan grad and a fan here.. I also played hockey most of my life. This is what is best about ice hockey. In hockey, a team playing hard with passion can beat anyone even the semi-NHL mighty Michigan, and Minnesota. Good job and respect.
So true. The individual talent matters little when it's shut down and for the rare times there's any kind of breakdown, you've got one of the best if not the best goalie in college hockey in the nets.

It wasn't just a surge, it was a massive tsunami starting at the 2nd half of the 1st period. Quinnipiac dominated from then til the very end of the game. Final shots 30-15 Quinnipiac! Wow.

Nobody had played a team like the Bobcats. They're SOLID. COMPLETE. DRIVEN. Less individual "superstar" talent and instead, a bunch of talented, very hard working guys. It really bothered me how much the ESPN crew gushed over NHL bound players and not about the band of brothers actual COLLEGE HOCKEY they profess to love so much. College Hockey is NOT about fawning over NHL talent. Not at all. It's about the sport of College Hockey. The team, the traditions, the student fans, the alums, the coaches, the pep bands, the atmosphere....it's everything BUT "high level talent" and big salaries......It's the pure game.

Right. Quinnipiac DOES have a lot of highly skilled players, but maybe a bit below some of the "NHL superstar" type Minnesota/Michigan guys....but still highly skilled and LOTS of them...HARD WORKING and committed. Was an awesome, awesome game.

I feel like the Gophers would have won the game after the first period, but the Bobcats just didn't want to give up and kept attacking again and again. Finally, their hard work paid off. All the players are just college kids, but they played very well and fought like men. I just don't know what happened with the Gophers. They did so well for most of the time. I was completely shocked when the overtime lasted just 10 seconds. The Gophers could have done better, but again, all the players played so well. It was a great game. It was so difficult to watch a couple of players from the Gophers frozen on the field for a long time. It was heartbreaking! Respect to all players. I hate the media in the locker room though. They shouldn't put cameras or microphones on the players' faces when they are so devastated. They fought like men, but they are still kids. Leave them alone.

Great game! Looks like MN missed a couple chances to seal it. Overall a pretty even game with Quinnipiac getting the momentum late.
How do you come to "even game" when the final shots were 30-15 Quinnipiac? It was domination by the Bobcats. Minnesota goalie made some good saves and they tried to play strong enough D, but persistence paid off and Graf tied it when the goalie was trying to cheat a little and because of that, couldn't close the 5 hole fast enough. Yes they could've gone up 3-1 on Snuggerud's chance, but he missed. That's how it goes....but it definitely wasn't an even game.

This was due to the JET play from Assistant Coach Joe Dumais. The left wing crossing the rink to right side confused the defense. No time to figure it out and adjust and they made em pay. Beautiful stuff.

Nice to see an underdog get their first-ever National Title. Like Minnesota State last year, Quinnipiac is proving to the college hockey world that non-bluebloods and schools from supposed "lesser conferences" can indeed make it to the title game and in this case, WIN.
