Developer: Capcom, 1989
Composer: Junko Tamiya
This is the complete soundtrack to the arcade game Strider. There are two revisions of Strider, and the first one is missing all the music from The Aerial Battleship and The Third Moon levels (all replaced with St. Petersburg 1). Because the first revision is more popular, this music is seldom heard in playthrough videos. These missing tracks will be heard in full here.

Had to be the most wanted arcade game for the home at the time this game was amazing esp on mega drive
.. even putting a quarter in sounded exhilarating
that's my text alert lol
DOUBLE LIKE!😀
@@djpheeze howd u set that up?
This game... easily one of my all-time favourite games from Capcom and/or for the Sega Genesis (which is the version I played back in the day), and overall one of my favourite arcade games from the 80's-90's. I love everything about this game: the overall design; the characters and animations; the way the enemies explode when you hit them with this ginormous freaking blade you carry around; the way Hiryu jumps, slides and does acrobatics like he's Mario from Mario 64; the different locations from futuristic cities to jungles and enormous flying vessels; the different languages spoken and overall mysterious/uneasing tone of the game; the cut-scenes; the fast-paced action and combat; the feeling of freedom and open-endedness of the level design; the awesome and varied boss and midboss battles generously spread around throughout the whole game; the fact that this game is a bit like a psychological horror movie in some ways and actually gave me nightmares but, paradoxically, of the beautiful kind; that feeling of inspiring awe and terror; the weirdness and exotic nature of it all; and finally the music... My God that soundtrack, also the sound effects and just overall sound design... is just one of the best I've heard in any video game from that era (the 80's and 90's). One of the first games I not only finished but had to go through again just because it was so awesome. Also one of the first games I can remember I had to listen to the whole soundtrack (neat feature Sega games had that Nintendo did not and I'm totally a Nintendo fanboy) because it left such an impression on my young self back then (there was also a certain Streets of Rage 2 for that matter not long after...). Anyway, thanks for the upload!
Have you played the most-recent version (PS3/4)?
Everytime I listen to the Strider ost, "that's my favorite tune!" then the next one plays "No, that's my favorite tune!" then the next one plays "Oh yeah, that's the one, now I remember!" next one plays "Ok this is the one!" ...........etc
5:58 this track literally makes me feel COLD! 🥶
5:47 the fm bells are so magical sounding
Legendary score
5:39
This game's winner is... Strider Hiryu!
I got u
Classic soundtrack
21:39 - I’m not gonna lie...that sounded like Johann Sebastian Bach
There are a few places that sound like JSB, the bit around 01:00 for example.
Very much
16:40 just love this gosh, cool how they also reused it for his mvc 1 ending
Thank you so much for the soundtrack upload Rainwarrior's Sidechain.
16:40 - Main theme of Strider 1 and 2 for 8 bit home computers :)
R.I.P. Midori, daughter of Shouko, descendant of Shii, mother of Shusui, and grandmother of The Flying Dragon.
The Siberian Wilderness made an impression on my 13-year old self.
I'm not saying it's the reason why I decided to learn Russian as an adult, but, yeah, I can read KA3AXCKAR CCP 2048.
16:40 Love this part. Too bad in the game this part of stage is too short one can hardly enjoy it completely during game play.
Yeah that song is so driven. I had it in my head yesterday and took me all day to remember it's from this game.
I love this too!
That song was the title screen music in the C64 version, it's burned in my head forever
I love this song also
Thanks, this disappeared from CZcams, glad it's back
best video game music ever, when you fight ivan drago @2:06
My favorite has always been 19:15 - 21:17. Strider did something Ive not heard any other game do, and that was take care to be sure its scene music transitioned into the next song smoothly. I remember reading something about the intention of it, and that it is not a mistake the songs seems to blend into each other so well.
Was the arcade faster, is this faster than Genesis, or is it just my imagination? The songs seems faster than I remember.
Same speed.
Some of them are. Especially the second part of the Amazon stage and the second half of the Grandmaster theme.
@@jnabraham Thank you for confirming! I especially noticed it in the Amazon stage.
@@Ne0mega Absolutely! I had the Genesis version and recently bought it again in a bundle, then bought a Capcom bundle with Strider (arcade version) on the Switch. When played side by side the arcade version is definitely faster on some tracks!
The tracks on the Genesis are faster in some areas (like the Third Moon), slow in some areas (Battleship Balrog), and most songs had their pitch changed for some reason.
Strange, I played a version in Mame where only Stage 1, 2, and 4 had unique music
The US version came out first, that's the one you played. The Japanese version came out a little later and had more music.
I like the Genesis version of this soundtrack better.
Me too.
I thought this was the genesis
Arcaded talks on the boses skit the genesis did not
7:25
8:44
I hate to be annoying, but is there any way you could upload each track individually? I would love to add them to some playlists
Tbf, having an internet petition id not being annoying
@@VixXstazosJOB Pardon? I don't understand what you're saying
Ugh so irritating that the menu screen music is not on this! It’s the soul of the soundtrack
This is the arcade game soundtrack, it did not have a menu screen. Maybe you're looking for a different version of the game?
@@Sakanakao2 good point. I used to play it on my Amiga 2000
@@Sakanakao2 of course it had a menu
Is it the music at 16:40? That became the title music in the C64 version
@@WanderlustZero you are correct. This is the musical theme that was the loading/menu score on the Amiga 2000 version.
So wait amazon opening 3 was only used on the Genesis?
X68000 version also has it.
@@WeskerSega thanks!
Where’s the Aerial Battleship intro?
It just plays the St. Petersburg 1 music during that.
@@Sakanakao2 some do that but there is an actual track for that. Trust me look for it
@@roderickstockdale1678 I already checked several versions of the arcade game when I was making the soundtrack, so you'll have to be a lot more specific about where to find it. All of the arcade versions have sound tests and I checked all of the ones I can find thoroughly.
@@Sakanakao2 G.S.M. Capcom 2-Stage 2-4(they mixed 3 and 4 up).
@@roderickstockdale1678 Hrm, well looking up that soundtrack I do hear an extra track, but unfortunately I don't think it was ever in a released arcade game. This is a rip of the game, not excerpts from a CD recording. If you can point to a version of a game that has it, it would be worth adding to the rip.
