I heard this game was horrible. Can't wait to watch the video!
And I've made it through the series. Serious respect for your ability to keep your cool at all times - even when you were getting frustrated it sure didn't sound like it. Also for your ability to explore a game like this, work out all the unexplained mechanics and gotchas, and eventually solve it all blind for yourself. You've made me interested in trying this game, though I'm not sure it's for me. More sure it's not actually. I'm cool with the 90's games, but 80's are often a bit too archaic and hard for me to get into unless I have some nostalgia like for FF1.
Yeah the characters are so cool. As a kid made an alien drawing that looked like a number muncher… but better and didn’t munch stuff. I bet I’d kick this game’s butt now. Dammit. 1 x 2 = 2… and 8 - 6… dude… I think this game gets harder… like there is algebra and quadratic equations… I want to see if you make it to geometry at least. Yeah the animations were amazing. You gotta play that typing game also. You probably already did and I probably already commented.
I haven't played any typing games on stream... yet. There were other Muncher games, I know there was a Fractions one at least, so maybe you're thinking of one of those?
@@Sakanakao2 - haha yeah I remember the fractions one... I was just being funny. ... oh wow. that typing game still comes back to me like acid trip flash backs.
Hey Brad. Yeah! I remember this one in school. Made me want to eat fish. I always wanted to catch a Mackinaw because of Mackinac Island and Mackinaw in Michigan. I had family out there and I used to fish. I don’t think I caught anything but bass and sun fish though. I am sitting here learning a lot about fish that I can’t believe exist because I haven’t eaten them… “Excuse me waiter, what are the local specialties? Do you have Dolly Varden on the menu this evening? Maybe some Mackinaw trout? Not that pitiful rainbow trout or Chubs… some fresh Mackinaw Trout…”
Im saving this to my watch list for this weekend! Thanks!
I had no idea this existed!
I'm guessing that the second or third endings of the game are how Karnov met Shantae's mom. Also, somewhere along the line, the village of Cleamina ended up having another nickname due to its riches, and how its buildings gleamed, due to its blessings, and thus it became Scuttle Town and the surrounding area became Sequin Land?
I remember playing the NTSB-U version of the game...everything that went against me, I shot. All of the items that I got on the screen, I did my best to get. Also, the final boss fight in the arcade version of the game was different. I honestly think that the arcade final fight should have segued into the fight that this game got as well.

A good game, and very fluid, wich I like !!! The game was not demanding for the ST, that is a good thing to me.
Muito legal este vídeo aqui no Brasil na época do lançamento não tem muito fã deste estilo de jogo Antão como meu inglês é ruim só estou terminando agora com sua ajuda e tradutor on line 23 anos depois do lançamento.
Glad if I could help. I thought it was a wonderful game. I ended up making maps and an items guide after playing, they are on GameFAQs now.
Eu estou na mesma, nãp consigo passar desse ultimo boss, eu fiquei literalmente 30 minutos lutando contra ele, e não sei oque fazer. Parece que eu nem estou dando dano nele
@@classesdex9439 I made an items guide which might help: gamefaqs.gamespot.com/dreamcast/197219-elemental-gimmick-gear/faqs/78701
@@Sakanakao2 Thanks a lot man, I've been stuck for a week. I'm still at strength level 2 and only have 100 health points. you made this Brazilian's day
Hi, i just came across this, but i was curious. Do you have a link for a US or EU version that works right? The two ROMs i have been finding the US one crashes in the second level, and the EU version seems to be slower for whatever reason
There's a link for the patch in the video description. The EU version runs slower because PAL machines had a 50 fps video standard, instead of 60 fps.
@@Sakanakao How do i apply the patch? Do i just put it in the folder that has my ROM in?
Some emulators can apply a patch automatically but I made a webpage tool that can help do it: bbbradsmith.github.io/ipstool
Am I the only one that thinks even the 2600 version looks more exciting/fun than this version? I'll admit I've never played this version, and while it does look pretty (at times) it's... as boring as watching paint dry!
I think a number of people have said they liked the 2600 version better. I haven't really played it to compare. This video was of a novice run, so maybe it's a lot less hectic than it would be on higher difficulties.
The "M" stands for Microsoft? The OG Series X?
So wait amazon opening 3 was only used on the Genesis?
X68000 version also has it.
@@WeskerSega thanks!
Ahh , the memories !!

I've never heard of seen this game before this speedrun. This is def not something I would have even appreciated as a kid lol, I would've been too stressed out to play it. I remember a game for the Atari 800 called "Bio-Defense" and it was a very very TAME version of this sort of thing...I used to be terrified to play it for some odd reason...the idea of operating on a "living" person just freaked me out. In other words, if I couldn't handle that game, then there is no way in hell I'd even go near this one lol. It seems super detailed and elaborate though...i'm surprised.
I love this style of games, the sandbox mechanics are incredible for the time of the game.
I was hoping someone would do this! Thanks!
Woooo go baldwarrior!!

This is one awesome game, I used to have a PC and the floppy disk of this game. My dad threw it out in 2001 when I was 12. I used to love playing this little gem. The hardest bit was getting past the Shiba statue on hard difficulty, I managed it once though! Fantastic fun for all ages! One of the most underrated games ever. I also used to play Prince of Persia 1989 on my 1993 PC.
I opened up my limited run copy the other day and beat this pretty quick. Very enjoyable game. And you have confirmed that the rainbow flashing hat is indeed from beating the game. Thx. 😂
watching all the graphics draw onscreen is wild. i bet it was way harder to get your art into a game like this than it is now!

This soundtrack is something special for an 80's game. The ending fanfare changes key 4 times and the main theme has variations throughout the game. Very nice!

I was wondering about the story of this game. Thnx 4 recordin it.
Nice video!
As kids we played till 199 in the dark, took ages before we found the candle (someone finally was old enough to search from internet), I still remember the struggle of new level layouts, and how awesome it was to see them for the first time after getting the candle😅 Edited to add, I can't believe you just skipped level 180 boss and didn't even realize it till much later lmao
Oh my gosh the nostalgia!! Even if there are tiny things "wrong" for me, it's still THE game of my childhood, now I want to play it again!😊
loved this and inspired me to make my own paint package on gfa basic compiler
I love this game
The Game Over Screen in the Japanese version is more darker than the US one. The US says only Game Over, but here we have Karnov humiliated by God. Even not to talk about Karnov's bump on his head.
The sounds on the ST version is terrible.
That's what you get for using the awful AY soundchip
This game looks really great! Cool to see a Zelda like with co-op on nes
16:40 - Main theme of Strider 1 and 2 for 8 bit home computers :)
the Japanese katakana for "Drasle" is "Do Ra Su Re" so I've always just said "Drah slay" because the "a" in "Ra" is pronounced like "rally" and not "dragon."
It's an awkward one. The JP manual has ドラスレファミリー directly underneath DRASLEFAMILY and these don't really match in non-Japanese reading. I just like how "Drazzle" sounds. Their other family name has problems too. "Worzen" gets rendered as ウォーゼン but I feel like it might deserve more of a German 'ts' sound for the 'z', but that's kind of lost in both the Japanese and English readings.
Thank you for this longplay I love this game and it doesn't get very much attention at all and watching you play it blind helped bring back some fond memories of my first time playing it. I also enjoyed your commentary, there wasn't a lot but it never came across as annoying and just added to the experience rather than taking away from it Thank you again for this longplay, I've subbed and will be watching for more😊
There's actually a part 6. I went over a guide and wanted to see many of the things I missed. I really fell in love with the game and ended up making a complete map of it because I wanted to see everything in it.
@Sakanakao that's awesome just got done watching that as well Thanks again for this awesome trip down memory lane I think I'm gonna bust out my dreamcast and replay this now😁
Space armordress is my favorite boss in this game and seeing your realization made me smile luke yep mech on mech😂
The challenge 44:20 was a nightmare for me when I was a kid playing this game I got so angry😅
So I gotta know: did you figure out where the clue was for the blue green red tile room?
It looks like I mentioned it at 3:13:20
This is an unintentional challenge run: 2 things I've noticed you can heal at the junk shops in the little egg hole thing next to the counter and you don't seem to realize that😅 You also beat tantarm doing chip damage the whole time What you're supposed to do is use that platform and either wire punch, flame or spin towards him and hit the head😜 However this has been a fun playthrough to watch❤
I did discover recharging at the shops at some point. Yes, I think I recommended the flame spinner on Tantarm in my 100% items guide. This was my first playthrough though, and I was enjoying trying to figure it out. :)
@Sakanakao I figured it was your first but all the same I've been loving someone playthrough this game I love so much This game doesn't get enough love imho and you enjoying it makes me really happy🥰
Watching you ignore the pipe in the very first room whenever you needed to leave the factory drove me nuts😅
Don't worry, I eventually made a complete map of the game. ;) That pipe is pretty inconspicuous though, you can't see that it's open because it faces up, and if you walk into it nothing happens. You specifically have to spin to get inside.
