Have you experienced...avocado hand 😖
No and I’m glad I’ve never
no. instead of slamming the knife into the seed i pull it out with my claws aka long nails lol.
If I need something cut I ask my parents or my brother because I'm terrible with knives, I always end up cutting my fingers some how lol.
No put I peeled myself with a vegetable peeler 😅
^🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
“Stunning good looks”
Lmao
😂
Here before this reach thousands of likes hehe

Yess! 😂
I still can’t wrap my head around how people cut themselves while cutting an avocado 😭😭 I feel bad for you guys cause it must flipping hurt
i literally have 3 scars on my hand from back when i was a kid and loved avocado 😭😭
First time I understand
BUT HOW DID I NOT CHANGE MY WAYS AFTER THE THIRD TIME??
@@nottodaynint.nottoday2235 I am still a kid and have cut myself several times while cutting avocados. I don’t have any scars except for one. I was working on a project and cutting popsicle sticks. I underestimated the strength of the popsicle stick and I ended up slicing open a section of my finger. that was so painful

Yeah, like 2 days ago I had to cut 15 avocados for an avocado ice cream and did not even got a scratch. . .but it really depends on people 😅
Some people can’t even boil water lol
I didn't even knew that people cutting themselves while trying to open an avocado was something common
Trust me it’s a thing and it sucks
It’s so common that they made a name for it
Well some people have no motor skills and some are using small knives.
@@isleep5914 maybe learn to use a knife properly then? It's really not that hard
@@yeetteet3739 Don’t be an asshole. It’s easy to say “that won’t happen to me!” until it does.
When removing the pit. Chop it with a knife head on, then twist. It will come off easily. Trust me i'm an avocado.
Did it today and was very worried about killing my finger.. don’t worry I still have 15 fingers
@@Gamamations but you only get 10.....did you just accidentally expose yourself as an alien?
@@klowee5240 umm no uh I- definitely have 10
@@klowee5240 but hypothetically if you had 15 fingers (extra hand) how would you hide it from humans..? Hypothetically speaking ofc

Pro tip: pop the seed out by pushing on the skin side. It might be a little messy but I end up smashing the avocado to make guac anyways. No avocado kamay.
AVOCADO KAMAY-
@@acrappyartist7262 kamay means hand in tagalog so they're basically saying avocado hand

why is no one else talking about the fact that she’s eating avocado cereal...really couldn’t be me
Thank god someone else mentioned it. That looks just.. 😬
yep. that is very common in the Philippines, sometimes we add sugar or honey in it too.
My Filipino friend says that mashed avocado, evaporated milk, and sugar is very yummy ! You can even add ice if it’s a hot day hehe never knew you could do so much to an avocado
Avocado is a dessert for filipinos! I could honestly never imagine using it for anything other than sweets
Hahah! I know it looks kinda foreign to you, but in indonesia and other asian countries we consume avocado as a dessert! In indonesia we have avocado juice (more like smoothie?) where we blend avocado with chocolate condensed milk and sugar, and we also put sliced avocado in other cold dessert😬 thats why its very fascinating to me when i knew that many westerners consume it as a savory food. I assume the type of avocado could be different? Idk tho😂 cz we also have “butter avocado” here
"heed my warning!" why is that so adorable😭 like a cartoon witch scream warning you to be afraid of avocados while backing up slowly into the dark woods😂
I honestly don’t find this anymore weird, than my B-ball teammate pulling out a half seasoned avocado during half time at games.
that's completely normal compared to this 🤣
I take a heavy handled knife, and just swing it down onto the pit so the blade gets stuck, from there you can just twist back and forth, and pull to release the pit. ☺️
Note: for people who replied that doing this can cause more injury, I don’t actually hold the avocado in my hand, I put it on a flat surface, or I put a towel between my hand and the avocado to cushion myself in case the blade does slip on the downswing 😁 thank you though for your comments and for allowing me a chance to clarify myself ☺️
@@marhaliajohn8794 Many folks in the US use small knives to cut avocados, and insist in using that to take the pit, can't speak for all but it's just common knowledge for Mexican households to just use a heavy knife from the get go.
This is exactly what I do. Then I whack the pit on the sink so it falls off the knife
Yeah I always use a chef knife when cutting and avocado not a paring knife
But people get hurt often that way too. They try to whack it while it's in their hand and they whack it too hard/off-centered and glance off the seed or miss it entirely and hit their hand
@@BurnsyRuns YEAH that's why you do it when you are ready. Also trying this off your hand would not work at all.
I always cut the avocado into fourths before trying to take the pit out so I don't have to use the knife to get the pit out
That's smart af
I just pry the pit out with my hands
@@ceazarbatanes8947 Yep plus its easy to do so if the Avocado is Really ripe😋
Yeah and then you can just peel the skin off really easily instead of scooping out the flesh
Finally! Thought I was the only one who did this 😅
I appreciate her goofiness, it makes me smile
Easiest way is to just hit the avocado pit with the knife as though you're going to chop it. As the knife sticks you just turn the blade clockwise to remove the pit... Easy peasy
Waiting till someone else talks about how they accidentally granted their hand with a cheese grater so I'm not alone.
I’ve done it. Terrible sensation…it’s more cringeworthy than painful. Just ughhhhh! Lol
How?😱

My PSHE teacher told me about her story…I loved having her for a lesson so much cos she would just go on about her funny life stories 😂
I've never even come close to cutting my hand open with an avocado.
Pro tip: make sure the avocado is squishy and ripe use a butter knife to cut in half and then just squeeze the half that has the seed and it pops out. Then just slice with butter knife and squeeze it out onto your plate using the skin! Fast and safe :)
'Must've been his stunning good looks' got me haha 😂😂🤣🤣🤣 I luv the way u narrate 👍🏼✨
Working in a restaurant I struggled with this a lot. It’s such a pain, especially during a rush because you have to stop and sanitize everything TT
The short I got right before this was talking about the guy who talks about the ER so this kind of freaked me out 😂
I once accidentally cut my wrist when cutting an avocado and I was looking at my cat. I now have a small scar on my wrist.
That sounds scary.😨
Well that's a new way to harm the butler-
storytime: one of my biggest cuts was when i cut myself when trying to cut a slippery mango. (I cut my thumb btw) i was like 8 or 9 and i didnt want my mom to be mad at me so i just kept running the thumb under water and blood kept gushing out. i eventually told my mom and she wasnt mad
I’m going to need more details on this avocado cereal
My friend did that once, her first reaction was to yell at her sister to film it for her story 💀
I wish I was kidding
Heres a tip that I always do I just lightly squeeze the avocado when it's cut in half the side with the pit and the pit just kind of loosens up from it and you can just pull it out with your fingers
Turn it upside down and it just plops out. Istg ppl do the ppl in this comment section have no IQ or what😂💔 literally so frustrated
Thx for that idea
Yup I stabbed the seed once and it was softer than I thought and about 1/4 inch of the knife tip was in my palm. Thankfully it missed all important muscles/tendons/nerves and healed without stitches (but did have to get a tetanus shot😕)
Was the knife not clean or something
@@nickaddison385 no it was clean but it’s recommended to get a tetanus shot if you haven’t gotten one in 5 yrs. There’s tons of reasons to get one. yes like stepping on a dirty nail but also burns, knife wounds, splinters some body piercings etc.
@@xovb my mother stabbed the avocado seed and it was like a little blood hose spouting. She literally got it on every single surface of my aunt's kitchen that Father's Day afternoon.(she was screaming and waving it around). She had to go to the ER and get stitches and she lost the use of her chording fingers. (She played bass so no big loss but still)
A reminder that ripe avocados' seeds will usually slip right out with minimal effort. Just use your hands, especially if you're not comfortable with knives

"Heed my warning~" - Famous last words of an infamous TikToker🤣🤣🤣
In all seriousness though, you could just use a spoon to cut your avacado. If Filipinos can cut meat with a spoon, they can do it with an avacado.😁
I use spoon too or I use the edge of a knife to scoop it out. Stabbing the smooth pit is like asking for yourself to get cut.
My favorite part is stabbing the pit. Knowing this could happen, I still violently do it with the knife. Sorry girl 😅

Be careful! I stabbed the seed once and it was softer than I thought and about 1/4 inch of the knife tip was in my palm. Thankfully it missed all important muscles/tendons/nerves and healed without stitches (but did have to get a tetanus shot😕)
@@xovb no you’re completely right! I am careful when I do it and I do it with not that sharp of a knife
There’s a much better way to remove the pit-you don’t use the knife, just push the back where the outside of the avo is into where the pit is.
Basically pushing out the pit from the back it’s so much easier
All u have to do is do a second cut on the back side of the half. Just like u make the initial cut from top to bottom all the way around to make halves, do the same thing with the half by cutting the whole back. You’ll be left with avocado quarters and can grab the pit from both sides to pull it out or it’ll fall out during this cutting because it doesn’t have enough avocado to grip to
I’m curious as to what this tastes like considering avocado is already kind of bland? Plus there is no texture to this everything is creamy or wet? I’m gonna try a lil bit to see what it’s like 🧐
avocado is bland? put it in some sugar and it is delicious
By itself I mean I know of plenty of concoctions to make it good but in this form it’s new to me
Nope its not bland, The thing she did is Very common in the filipino housebold like everyone will be doing this to avocado where they add sugar and Milk(optional) Though in this vid she use Honey instead of sugar. But it is bland if you just scoop out an avocado and eat it like that(idk if anyone has done this)
.But theres also avocado toast so yeah😋😋
@@ronishagardner2255 we add condensed milk and ice. Its really delicious
Add condensed milk and ice, and OMG! SO GOOD. Make sure it’s ripe tho.
oh my god :O that sounds scary (to me since i don’t handle well with cuts) i haven’t gotten it yet so ye
If you have a sharp-ish chefs knife, you can really easily slice straight through the whole avocado including the seed to cut them in half with a bit of speed and force, and then you can simply push softly on the edge of each seed half with your finger to easily slide them out. That way you don't have to do any awkward removal techniques with the knife. Also gives you perfectly straight halves, and is a much faster way to cut and deseed larger amounts of avos for guac or other sauces.
Personally I find cutting around the seed to be awkward, so I actually prefer to slice through it whenever I have a chefs knife handy.
I got avocado hand with a steak knife. Trying to remove a pit with a steak knife gets you a 2 inch deep cut. Just know I am 13 and it happened when I was 12. I didn’t feel it get my middle finger until my step dad pointed out that there was blood. Thought it would be like any regular cut so I put some starch on it to stop blood flow. I washed it. Stayed home for 15 mins then I decided to go to patient first to get stitches for 2 weeks. Don’t use a steak knife. Use the big knife that dosent cut meat that substitutes your finger muscles. Messed up my nerves. My finger now has a missing patch and is going into my muscle in my finger. Oh well. Just a permanent scar.
That happened to my mum but it was in the middle of her thumb and cut to the bone.
Yikes
Yes very but I was at a sleepover when it happened luckily so I only heard about it the next day.
Imagine dying and going to heaven from that like:
“Hey how did you die? I got in a horrible car crash.”
“Oh I cut myself while I was making guacamole.”
I was in a Chipotle a few weeks ago and the two people who were upfront were talking about how the new guy in the kitchen took his finger tip off taking the pit out of an avocado, he was using the chop method.
Its alot easier just using an over sized knife to pull out the avocado, you hit the seed with the sharp part if the knife, the knife stops since the seed is too thick, and you just simply twist and the seed comes out with ease.
Slam a sharp knife into the pit, twist, and pull. Nothing more dangerous than a dull knife if you really get cut by it you’re taking it out wrong. 😭

@@amour7837 lol your welcome hope you like it!
I’ve pitted and slices thousands and thousands of avocados in my years. Never had that problem or even been close to it. First time hearing of avocado hand too
They make avocado slicers. The small amount of people who know this amazes me. Amazon, under $10, safe, get one. I’ve had one for years.
I put the avocado half on the counter seed side up then with your knife whacked the seed with the blade, when the knife sticks in the seed then you just twist it and the seed will pop out. This is the way I have fixed avocados for 50 plus years, it works every time.🥑
I’ve done this!!! Ended up in the ER and I got some fun stitches to show for it!!!
I take a sharp ass santouku knife and tap the pit, stick the knife and remove the pit that way. Quick tip, use the base of the knife when removing a pit this way because it gives you more control and it takes less effort to remove the pit from the knife afterwards. Also for anyone looking for a good cheap knife, binging with banish makes his own german steel knives that are great and cheap and there is a brand that sells on amazon called imarku that sells very shard and hard and cheap knife's. Both of these bramds are easy to sharpen and come very sharp already. The edges last a while before they meed to be shapned as well. As mentioned before they are hard as heck so I rarely use my honing rod for them.
guys you don’t need a knife for getting the pit out. just pop it out by pressing on the back of the pit and push it out
Avocado cereal what are you doing my brain is too malfunction for this
It’s actually easier to push the back of the avocado half with the seed if it’s not stuck to hard
YES! My mother got avocado and a knife went right through her hand super close to a major part of the hand the ER said always be careful with avocados
one time, as an avocado rookie, i was making guacamole and i had to slice the avocado into squares and scoop it out
i held the avocado with my hand and used a steak knife because the other knives were in the dishwasher...
and it stabbrd right through into my hand, had a scar there for weeks
`Have you ever heard of avocado hand?’ `Avocado hand?’
`Avocado hand!’
- gingerbread man, shrek
Good tip from a Mexican, use a bigger knife, gives u more control, don't move the knife, just reach the seed and then just rotate the avocado, and to extract the seed, just give it a small hit with the sharp side of the knife and rotate it like a screw, when it's out you can un-stuck it from the knife by sliding your thumb by the sides of the knife.
Enjoy ur guacamole guys
Jeanelle simping for doug >>>
I always lay down the avocado pit up, put a big knife on the centre and slam my other palm on it. (Fingers held high ofc) Pit is stuck on the knife, no hands can be hurt, simple and safe.
What we do is to sort of flick the blade of the knife straight over the seed so it imbeds a little in it then simply lift the knife and the seed should follow (or at least gets loose enough that you could turn the cheek over and it falls out without fuss) ☺️
I love avacados, the toy in the middle is always the same, I've never gotten anything but the wooden ball
She has soul, it's always appreciatef
my mom got avocado hand while we were on vacation in france. she was in the hospital for pretty much the whole weekend we were there. wasn’t much fun. ever since then, most of our family is so overly careful when cutting avocado.
Actually to get the see out it’s easier to squish it a bit it’ll pop right out if ripe enough ^^
If you want to get the pit out easily and safely, you can just press the back of the avocado on the other side of where the pit is
I slice the avocado like
I take the spoon and wipe around the outer rim and then you have it all with no wasted avocado but I'll try your pit strat
I either pop the shell to get the pit out or use a spoon. I am too clumsy so I know not to use a knife to get a pit out or I'd have no fingers left haha
To remove the pit you just hit it in center hard with the middle of your knife blade, while holding the avocado half in your palm Twist and it pops out stuck to the knife blade. I've never cut my hand cutting an avocado
I care abt your hand but that cereal sent me to heaven😂
I have a knife specifically for avocados. It's dull enough to cut the skin but not to cut me in case I slip up
"Avocado hand" hmm...it once stretched through my palm
Instead of sliding the knife across the seed to try to remove hit, just hit the seed with the knife like you would crack an egg. The blade will get jammed in there just enough for you to twist the seed out of the avocado
My sister once couldn't find a small knife so she took the biggest one and cut next to her knuckle. While my mom was bandaging her up I saw the bleeding and passed out. It was an eventful day.
Vixella has been real quite since this video dropped
Never in my life have I ever done anything as dumb! 😂
I used to smack the knife onto the seed so it'd embed itself then twist it out, one day I was being lazy and used a meat cleaver to cut the avocado because nothing else was clean and out of habit I hit it normally and went through the seed, flesh and my flesh stopping at the bone.
I was gonna say this is how you eat avocado, sweet not savory, but then I double checked and, yep, she's Filipino.
Translated this to my mexican mom and she had a laugh 😁
I was taught to put the avocado on the table or counter and hit the seed straight on so the knife is stuck in it. Then turn the knife and pull out the seed.
I only did once when all I had was a small steak knife to cut my avocado with, it wasn’t working getting out the pit with the knife, and me being a genius, decided I’ll just “gently stab into the pit to pull it out. The knife went right into the middle of my hand and I still have a scar 8 years later lol.
I have sustained 2 kinda major injuries from avocados. First time I was cutting it in half in my hand and cut my hand bad. Second time I wasn’t thinking after having a little bit to drink and decided to remove rhe seed by jabbing the tip of the knife into it while in the dark and stabbed the knife through my hand…. My mother super glued it shut and it’s almost healed now
I always use knives that are so dull that you can't even hurt someone if you wanted to , I dig out the pit with it and no matter how hard it is it always works . I can't be trusted with sharp objects and I'm an adult, I'm far too clumsy .
She's the type of people who eats avocado with everything 🤣🤣
Don't worry even "experts" get to experience this, I live in Mexico so avocados (or aguacates, as we call them) are pretty common (and expensive in a way), my brother nearly pierced his hand, because his mind was somewhere else, instead of cleave the seed with the knife, he tried to impale it, luckily he didn't use to much force and only the tip of the knife puncture his hand.
Me and my mom laughed so much when he showed us the pictures.
my mom taught me to put the avacado with the pit and smack the knife into it without your hands near it. or to keep avacado fresh just don’t take the pit out when your taking the avacado out
As I mexican I cannot relate... we are born with the natural instinct to remove the pit 🤣🤣
Sounds like a mild case I was interning at a hospital in high school and somebody thought it would be a great experience for me to put me with ER staff to see what they do.
A girl comes in hand wrapped in bloody paper towels panic crying and asking for help.
She had cut almost 2 cm deep into her palm as she was trying to remove the pit like she had seen on social media with a quick hit into the pit.
Blood, so much fckin blood everywhere.
That's the day I learned what half a litre of spilled blood looked like.
Avocado and condensed milk with ice and bit of water is good. If you dont have condense. Sugar and powdered milk and water with ice will do.
you twist the avocado pip thing to get it out? in my house we put the avocado on the ledge, take out a sharp knife, put one hand on the knife and one hand by ur side in case you miss and you just go down as hard and quick as you can to stick the blade of your knife into the pip. Then you turn it a bit and pull it out with the blade, then shake it off into the bin and use it to cut the avocado. It works well.
When i worked at Pret, we were told to lay the avocado on the counter, with the one hand on top & cut it around, then squeeze the pit out of the avocado
my mom has had that she was freaking out and i was trying to help her but she doesn’t handle blood well😑😑
then my neighbors were like u just need alcohol then you’ll be better and i was dying 😂
My dad has cut his thumb trying to get an avocado pit out. After my parents to the ER their friend came over to drop something off but since they werent home I just ended up talking to her for awhile. What was funny is that since the avocado had had time to rest she squeezed the pit right out.
Love all u gots to do is in a steady chopping motion, chop into the pit..the knife will stay in the pit and take it to the trash and knock the knife on the side of the trash can and boom pit falls off....I've never been cut while cutting an avocado 🥑.....
Cut so many over the years in my hand, never cut myself. 🤷♀️
If you stab the seed with the long end of your knife it comes out pretty easy
With the ripe one the stone comes out super easy most of the time. Now I don't work in a kitchen that uses them I have to use shop ones. They suck
Avocado hand is a real thing. So is bagel hand and burger hand. People can hurt their hand real bad and need tendon surgery. It can easily be 3 months of rehab. As a hand therapist I always tell people to be careful!
In Puerto Rico it’s actually very common to use avocados with savory dishes so it’s a bit strange to see them being used in sweet dishes but I wouldn’t mind trying it!
I have a special 3 in 1 avocado tool, and it's fantastic!! You can get it at Walmart, on amazon, or at some dollar stores and grocery stores here in Canada 😁
