I remember being a teenager when this came out. The album floored me. The lyrics about the sun not getting older but we are really got to me. Now that I'm in my late 60s, I finally understand the end. Yes, home is where I reside. I don't like to go places like I used to. The warmth of the fire on my tired, painful old bones... And then the distant church bell.
Floyds classic 70's albums were intended to be heard in one go, DSOTM being no exception. Its really just one long track, they do it all live as one piece in Pulse 1994. So hearing them one by one is a bit like reading a random chapter of a novel. That rumbling sound before the clocks is actually the end of On the Run. All the tracks melt into each other.

Pink Floyd is arguably the best live band ever, but the first time you hear this masterpiece, it should be the studio version. At the end of the song, you'll be happy to learn that there is second part, Shine on You Crazy Diamond Parts VI-IX from the same album. You'll love them both.
I use Floyd for nearly all the music on the short video's that I post.. I wish I could use them in my longer ones!!,,, but utube will not permit it.. I olso use Ren!! He is new and he is skilled, talented . You should react to his song called "hi ren"... Take care out there.
I listen to this since the mid 1980's. Try to do this: listen to it again every 5 years or so--you'll find a different meaning everytime, as years goes by. I listen to it since I'm 12 y.old, until 52 (right now), and then meaning change over time. But to truly appreciate it, listen to the entire Dark Side of the Moon album, if you can. it was meant to be listened in its entirety. Officially, it's made of 10 songs, but in reality, it's one gigantic 50+ minutes song, as there are no silences between the 10 sings. Try that (not asking a reaction, but you have to experience it that way. Have a nice day.
