- I got invited to the Mulan World Premiere in Hollywood, so of course I had to make a dress for this special occasion! I definitely learned my lesson and will not rush to make a dress in 1 day again LOL but overall I'm happy with how everything turned out. Thanks for watching! #MulanPremiere #RedCarpet #Coolirpa

We go last minute dress shopping. April does last minute dress sewing.
Beautiful dress!
Kayoua Xi⭐️
Hmong?
lmao
Blah 😆 that's crazy lol she's so talented.
When I procrastinate: 🗑️💩🗑️
Coolirpa's "procrastination": 🌈☀️✨
Right!! 😂😂
so true
Coolirpa: Sews an amazing dress in 1 day.
Me: Cuts pant pieces wrong 3 times...
I so identify with you. LOL
Me, too. Well, 4 or 5 times...
Me: spends a week making a butt ugly apron to wash dishes in.
I feel you. It took me 2 days to sew a baby blanket... and it was just sewing 2 fabric together, no quilting or anything. 😅
I've been there!!
i had been watching Micarah Tewers making dresses and i forgot how unchaotic normal dressmaking youtubers are. anyways thats a really pretty dress and you look amazing 🖤🖤
Hanini me too lol i love her
Ahhh, I love Micarah!!
Dude same😂😂 Micarah is hilarious though
Her chickens are icons
IKR it was weird not using a chocolate bar and a Barbie dall as measuring tools 😂
it's beautiful and I love the red shoes with it. Strapless wedding dresses usually have a belt made from grosgrain ribbon engineered on the inside of the dress. the purpose is to carry the weight of the skirt at the waist so it doesn't drag the top down.
dindog22 wowed what! I need to learn more about this. Thank you for sharing!!!
Yes! Mine had a wide elasticated belt on the inside around my waist that supported the weight of the skirt, no hitching for me!
Yep! It's called a waist stay - learnt about it when finishing my (heavy-ish) wedding dress... 2 days before the wedding... and fearing that the spaghetti straps would hold it. It also relieves the stress on the zipper. Btw you can use the hook and eye tape of an old bra (also serves as "something old") ;)
Waist stays are fantastic and I can't believe that more people don't know about them. I am amazed that even high end labels rarely put waist stays in their formal strapless dresses.
dindog22 I only learned about waist stays recently, because a vintage pattern had one. It just makes so much sense!
i'm so bummed that the premiere has been postponed, but i'm glad you got to see it and show off your mad skills! i hope you and your family stay safe and are being respected and protected by your community. i know there have been some racist attacks against hmong and other chinese americans lately so i'm sending you all lots of love
Sophie Lesher aww thank you so much! I hope everyone is staying safe as well!
Some Korean exchange students I know were made fun of when the virus was only in China. People are awful.
I feel like the two video perspectives, yours and the other CZcamsr’s are a perfect example of how hard we can be on ourselves sometimes, yet how much we are admired by others. She was admiring your dress without the slightest idea that at that same moment, you were pretty bummed out about not bringing your petticoat. But yeah, frustration is totally valid, especially because it took your time and effort to make it. Anyway, I love all of your designs and creations; been following you for forever!
It has a vintage feel
muffin top I tried to go for an old Hollywood hair curl too haha. I tried 😂
@@coolirpa ... You pulled it off Completely Beautiful Princess (ha ha/but TRUE) ❣❣❣
God that fabric is so beautiful 😍
Who would’ve thought that reds, blues, black, and nude worked so well together? And those golden sparkles!!! So gorgeous ❤️💙🖤✨
It's so beautiful! :D
it's that lovely gem tone in that red shoe that pops the light blue, and then black&beige is such a solid (and imo underrated) neutral colour combo, it all looks so good together! obsessed
@@coolirpa I know you've done a couple of collaborations with Orly Shani. She used that fabric to make a pretty bustier for her cousin's wedding. It's really lovely. Your dress is fabulous.
@@coolirpa I know this is a long shot, but any chance you could link where you got the fabric? It's probably not available, but worth a try.
what a beautiful design--simple but an exquisite result and perfect use of the fabric.
Thank you!
coolirpa where did u buy the fabric from?
Shaku Harshavardhana Joanns
you’re like mulan if she was raised a princess🥺
Hi April!
You could try something like “Save failed online shopping dress”.
You know, people who buy clothing online and it turn out a big regret.
What do you think?
She’s already done that
My grandma used to make her own clothes. I grow up learning the basics from her. You honor all the knowledge lost in a time that everybody buys online and become a copy of a store apparel.
Thank you for inspiring us!
She did not only just made the dress in one day, she also made content for her channel at the same time.🙂
“This is what happens when you procrastinate” Me: Am I procrastinating wrong??
Lol
That dress is one of the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. Even without the petticoat it still looks amazing! So fitting for a red carpet!
Great job April! You looked amazing!! (with and without the petticoat)
Every time I saw the sequined fabric I got suprised by how beautiful it was!
Me sitting here and not even being abled to make a paper airplane
Her making one AMAZING dress in 2 DAYS!!!
So pretty! My favorite piece of yours!! i love the style and skirt length. The overlay is also gorgeous. Its perfect! Please make a tutorial on how make tea-length vintage styled dress!
You know, I’ve never been a fan of sequined prints and tan fabric, but you made it work.
Thank you for all the tiny hints on fitting on the waist. I think one has to have a good understanding to get the difference between a good fit for yourself and a standard fit without personnal attention.
I love you and your work! That dress is awesome. Flat or fluffy. Stay inspired!!!
Your dress is absolutely gorgeous and you look radiant! So much talent! I love the fabric you selected and it was perfect for the red carpet. Thank you for sharing!
It turned out beautiful and you looked amazing in it! So inspiring that you just made a dress all from scratch!
How I wish I could procrastinate and still create great things. I'm so happy for you April and to these great things happening for you and this channel! 💕✨🎉
Ugh, me too. I'm reaaaal good at the procrastinating part, but I need heaps of practise to achieve results like these after procrastinating.
Thing is, I keep procrastinating about practising too... 😥
It's BEAUTIFUL both ways, and I love the red shoes with it!!! You looked STUNNING!!!💝💝💝
Absolutely stunning dress! Actually love the raw edge on the bottom!
This dress is fricken STUNNING! I LOVE that fabric it’s so beautiful and the length you chose with those shoes! 😍😍😍😍
My favorite dress you've created so far!
What an beeeautful dress!!!! Good job, April!
Absolutely gorgeous! I love this sheer fabric 😍😍
That dress is gorgeous! And you looked amazing even withouth the pettiskirt...it's insane how our mind always makes us feel bad about the smallest details we get "wrong", I feel this so much.
You did an awesome job April!
Absolutely GORGEOUS! You make creating a stunning “red carpet” dress look easy.
April, you’ve always been a celebrity. You’re amazing. ❤️
lovely work as usual, april! sew in a waist stay for strapless and/or heavy gowns. they're common in wedding dresses. works like a dream. my wedding dress had one.
bunniejanie oooo I will need to research that! Thank you
I gotta say it : you are my favorite CZcamsr ever! So talented yet so humble 😭❤️
Gorgeous dress! I love your whole look for the premier! You looked so elegant! Thank you so much for taking time to film all of your steps! I’m inspired to design and sew more, especially after watching your videos. You truly have a gift!
GIRL! THAT DRESS IS EVERYTHING. It is absolutely so incredibly stunning.
The dress is gorgeous even without the petticoat!
The dress is beautiful! You’re so talented!!
That is truly amazing and stunningly beautiful!! I love the colors and the sparkle!
Love this tutorial. I’m planning to change the top of my wedding dress. I’m watching this tutorial about 3 times already. I bought all my stuff. Can’t wait to start my project. Thanks for the video!
When I saw the photo of you on SAT on Facebook I screamed!! Great to see more Asian representation. 💖💖🥺🙏🏼
Linda Thao awww thank you!!!
This is awesome! The gown is stunning!!! also I love the new set! Keep going girl! you're awesome! ❤️
Thanks so much!
One of the prettiest dresses I’ve seen in a LONG time!
Probably the most beautiful dress I’ve ever seen! Amazing job, April!
Okay, STUNNING. this has got to be my favorite piece of clothing you’ve ever made. So beautiful!!
It was still stunning without the petticoat! I love the neckline! It reminds me of vintage Dior!
Does anyone know what the neckline js called? Huhu
That fabric is so BEAUTIFUL AND UNIQUE!!! love the dress!!
Stunning! Absolutely beautiful. Excellent job!
You need to start your own line of clothes. I love your clothes and fabric choices, also loved the new intro/outro set up!
The new studio looks gorgeous!! and so does your dress ❤️💙💛💖
Thank you :D
This dress is stunning! The neckline is so spunky and creative ❤️ super vintage
You did such a great Job April. Hope it was an awesome night and congratulations on your enlopement. I love all your videos.
The fact that you created that in ~2d from draft to final product is pretty amazing. No one noticed the damn pettiskirt whatever lol
Ok, I am going to start making clothes this year!
I think this is the most beautiful dress you’ve ever made! Absolutely stunning fabric and design. Wow.
As always your projects are so beautiful. Well done April.
QUE HERMOSAAAAA❤❤
April, you always Look like a million. You are our mentor and our HERO!
kathleen chang awww LOL thank you!!!! 😭😁
Girl that fabric is stunning!!!!!! I can get over how beautiful it is!!
i remember watching Coolirpa videos back in 2013 and learning to sew and make the most out of my clothes. Makes it extra special to see her walk a red carpet in her own dress design
Hi April. Why haven't you tried out for project runway?
You should. Facts.
I’d love to see her on project runway!
I’d love too!
Me: gets inspo and decides to make an dress
Also me: realises i only have a sharpie and a blunt scissors
Gosh this is STUNNING. I started watching your videos years ago when I was in late middle school and teaching myself to make my own clothes, and at one point even got the same sewing machine model as you! I find it so incredible how much we’ve both improved during the past years. I’m at the end of college now and although we’ve never met, you’ve been such a huge part of my sewing journey ❤️❤️❤️
I love this! I'm working on my senior ball dress right now for school! What an inspiration!😍🙏
I wish I could make something half as beautiful as your dress when I procrastinate 😔❤
Didier Duport it’s so stressful and straining on your body! I don’t recommend anyone to start making something 2 days before an event haha.
do you do "commission'' clothes? I would buy all the clothes you've made 😍🌸
That dress is amazing! Beautiful job!
WOW, absolutely stunning April.
I hope you get to go to many more premieres. I feel your sadness on the lack of skirt floof. What's your opinion on horsehair braid?
Isabelle Scales I wanted to use horsehair but realistically I wouldn’t have had time to hand sew it around the circle skirt. Love horsehair braid though!
HOW DID SHE NOT MESSING UP THE DRESS IN ONE DAY! I already messing up when I’m cutting my pants to shorts they will look uneven or they will be to short
This dress is gorgeous and how exciting!
Omg I love this April. You loooooook ahmazing. Regardless of the petticoat. Congrats on being invited that’s a huge deal. Ciao’
Hey April! I have a dress that's my aunts and I finally got the chance to officially have it. However, when I sent it to a seamstress she kinda screwed it up by ironing the velvet material. I don't know how to explain how terrible I felt but it was basically like my dreams were crushed. I wanted to wear the dress for the longest time ever but my parents were just telling me to throw it away. Is there any way to restore it?
Try a flat cat brush with lots of steam
If it's not rayon you should be able to lift the nap with a lot of steam and a flat cat brush
Who else can’t go to the movies because of Coronavirus
That dress is stunning and you did a fantastic job designing and sewing it in just two days. It looks like the premier was great fun.
Love this dress!!!! This material is just stunning!!
Q1: Why are they doing the premier in such a large scale , when world is dealing with a pandemic.
Q2: Why are you attending the premier?
Btw...I love the dress...You are insanely talented.
Aren't people boycotting Mulan due to the lead actress siding with the Hong Kong police over the citizens protesting for their freedom?
firexx78 yes idk why people are ignoring that
Yes! Thank you! I love the dress and I wanna support April but that made me so uncomfortable
Coolirpa, your dress was ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS! I think it's your most beautiful creation to date! So so so pretty! Congrats to you for making such beauty!
Such a cute and gorgeous dress!! Thank you for sharing the lessons learned as well! Congrats getting to be a part of such a cool evening -- and now being a celebrity! 😉😉
I love your dress and it’s lovely to see how you made it. However, the actress playing mulan is f-ed up the whole thing. Plus, they cancelled mushu from the story. What kind of demon will do sth like that?
#boycottmulan #freehongkong #freetibet #freetaiwan
Love love this dress. I couldn't stop smiling at how beautiful and romantic this dress is. What an exciting piece. I liked both with and without poofy... but you look great in what ever you create April. TFS
Wow, you look amazing in this. What a gorgeous creation ❤️.
I probably worked on this dress for at least 20 hours total over the weekend haha. For more information on this dress, visit my website: coolirpa.com for a blog post! I'll be sharing, fabric and other materials :) AND FYI - MULAN HAS BEEN POSTPONED AND WILL NOT BE IN THEATHERS ON MARCH 27 ANYMORE.
coolirpa whaaaaatttttt???? I was so excited to Mulan 😭 your dress is fabulous btw ❤️
First of all .... NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! I was waiting soooo king for this movie !
Second. I always wondered how you use a dress form to get the measurements to fit the your body. ( your body small like that dress form ) My body looks nothing like a standard dress form.
Well if you ever want to try out for project runway you’ll be ahead of the game for being able to handle the one day challenges.
Love your dress, but I wouldn't support anything mulan related after learning that the main actress supports police brutality in Hong Kong 😓
Same! Appreciate your work of the dress but please also consider that the actress supports police brutality in Hong Kong so antimulan!!
I love your creative videos because they make me feel more confident not only in your projects I copy but my own. You're so open and honest. That and your style!
The dress is so pretty! Must have been an amazing feeling to walk a red carpet wearing your own dress!
That dress is stunningly beautiful.
absolutely GORGEOUS!!!!
I actually loved it so much without the petticoat!! You did such an amazing job. I love watching the outcome of all your creations.
Wow you have such an amazing gift. Such a beautiful dress!! 🙏🏿❣️
Absolutely beautiful! :D Wonderful work! Thank you so much for sharing your process!
Awesome. You are definitely going places!! ❤❤❤ thanks for sharing your experience and creation! Super cute, and really in Mulan theme. 😍😍😍
So glad you dropped this video!
With or without a petticoat, that dress is STUNNING!!!!! I can't believe you made it in a day! #goals #inspiration
