Hi, professional tailor here: this is a quick tip. When you make a half circle (like this), full circle or *ANY* kind of "flaring" skirt, make the entire thing, but hold off on the hem for 24 hours. Instead, hang the unhemmed skirt like you normally would from the waistband and let the fabric stretch. The weight of the fabric can stretch along the bias (the diagonal of the weave) and cause the hemlime to warp, so your hem will be a squiggly, wavy line instead of clean and straight. (This does, of course, depend on your fabric. Tight weaves like a medium denim or poplin cotton are less likely. Loose weaves, like satin or chiffon, can stretch A LOT!!! Like, a 5-10cm difference!!!!)
Let it stretch 24 hours, re-even it to the shortest point and hem it then!!!

@@juliajin9063 VERY hard to determine fabric without seeing it live and doing a test or two for the fiber content, but you can tell it's a woven (non-stretch) fabric by the way she rips the strip off for the waist band. Only a woven fabric will do that; you can't do that with a knit (stretch). The shimmer makes me think polyester of some kind, maybe what is called "peau de soie"... but that part is a guess. This type of fabric might stretch in the bias depending on how tight the weave is.
Usually, the basic gauge is the thinner the fabric (think chiffons, satins, crepes...), the more it's going to deform in the bias. The heavier the fabric (light-to-medium denims, broadcloth cottons, or poplins), the less likely to stretch because it's woven tight. Still, doesn't hurt to let it hang a day. (I'd even say a couple days if it's chiffon or satin!)
Another gauge is how difficult it is to work with. If you sew a lot, you've experienced fabrics that move, slip or, once cut, don't even look like the right shape anymore! Those fabrics are going to stretch RIDICULOUSLY in the bias because they are VERY loosely woven. If it's for a skirt or dress bottom: make it, hang it, let it stretch, equalize it and hem. If you want to use one of these slippery, shapeless fabrics for something like a dress bodice or jacket, you might want to consider iron-on interfacing!

THIS is a versatile piece of clothing that you can wear on a cruise...each night of dinning you could wear it differently and just have extra accessories to change it up..like it...would need to make that waistband a bit bigger for those of us with larger waists...but it's nice and simple...

После того, как юбка сшита, её равномерно подвешивают на верёвку, как белье на про сушку. Равномерно. После того, как она повисит так какое то время, равняют низ. А то без такой процедуры юбка - клеш становится нервная очень быстро. Какой то край обязательно про виснет внизу. Читала, что надо ещё что-то по низу типо отяжеления цеплять по низу юбки, но мы шили такие юбки без отяжеления, но с подвешиванием. И ни одна юбка за время носки не изменила свой внешний вид - низ нигде не провисал. Это моё наблюдение и мой опыт! Даже в этой юбке видно, что низ в некоторых местах провисает и ощущение, что юбка неровная. Приглядитесь! Желаю удачи и красивых качественно сшитых вещей!!!

И пояс тоже не мешало бы продублировать. Если как образец - нормально, но вот в носке и после стирки … Что-то я не уверена, что не вытянутая она будет. Да и по выкройке уже косит юбка. Очень заметно.

Tip to make this easier: fold your fabric either into a triangle, in half or into a 1/4 (fold twice)
Pin the fabric to your carpet, pin your measuring tape to your carpet on the fabric and use it like a compass to draw with a half or quarter circle at the waist line and hem line while holding you calk against the tape and you get a perfect line.
Much faster.
I Do these ways you mentioned about. But in the video, some show is difficult , especially pinning it on The carpet. Thanks for your lovely comment

If you hate pins have you tried the little plastic clips? I think they work as well as pins for most things. I was trying on my corset mockups using the Clips versus pins, and I think they performed pretty well.

I love this! I took @6 weeks of Home Economics in high school (1980's) and one of the things we learned to make was a reverse able wrap skirt. I loved it so much, I wore it under my graduation gown 4 years later.

Yes, it was white on one side and white with flowers on the other. Being doubled, it didn't require a slip under it for privacy.

These were also all the rage early 2000's! They were in every mall, in all the fabrics you could think of! I think they called it the infinity skirt or something like that 😅 and it had two layers.
I always wanted one for all of the things you could do with it, but couldn't afford the overpriced tag at the time. This video just brought that memory back, and made it possible! I can make it!!

Из льна не получится!Будет грубо,когда начнете менять фасоны,такое можно шить из тонкой нестрейчевой ткани (креп,шелк,шифон)А из льна вы сможете толко носить как простую юбку.
И всё-таки это не одежда, а просто пляжная хрень.
И шить её надо из крепдешинв или батиста. Изо льна это будет коробка.
В обычной жизни такое уродливое приспособление (как будто надеть больше нечего) носить не будешь, есть более удобная одежда.
А из сопливый, синтетической тряпки, что в ролике - это просто барахло и потеря времени и денег.😢

It's like a miracle.. I'm a guy and I abandoned a sewing project because I failed to make this one pants idea as I wasted lots of money and fabric... then I see this 'skirt' video recommended, which I did not want to watch first, but then I thought, 'maybe it's a sign so it could motivate me again, let's see'... now I find out it's literally the easiest solution to my very tragic problem (what I call the Ali-Baba pants); I was even thinking maybe I'm not fit to be a designer... but as self-learning biggener, I've learnt now to go easy on myself.

Выше в комментариях есть замечания, как сделать, чтобы у юбки не вытягивался край, как укрепить пояс и т.д. , полезные дополнения. Пишут, что если шить как на видео, то это до первой стирки, потом поведёт. У меня была такая юбка, у неё и правда провис неровно низ, носила к портнихе ровнять.

You bring the best designs to share with the masses that easy to duplicate with minimal sewing skills, or no sewing at all! I have watched a few of your videos thus far and am hooked.😁 I really appreciate your creative spirit and ingenuity in creating clothing that can be worn in many styles. This keeps styles current and cuts down on clothing being thrown away thereby keeping it out of landfills which accounts for 15% of methane emissions.

Omg.... That is so incredibly beautiful. Not only do I love the color and the fabric...8 ways to wear it . That's incredible. And every style was just beautiful. I just love the functionality of this dress. You're an incredible dressmaker. I'm wowed by your creativity. I gave my sewing machine ( brand new in the box btw) to my mom. I'm hoping to get it back I've been dying to sew something. I do a lot of hand stitching but I hate threading the needle,my eyes don't work the best now that I'm 50 . I've been knitting and sewing since I was eight. Well I probably wasn't sewing then actually but I know I was seeing before middle school where we had Home Economic class. Girls did cooking and sewing. Boys got to do carpentry work. Which I also enjoy lol. Anyway I think you are fabulous. I have to add that the model ( don't know if it's you the seamstress) has a beautiful shape for a dress like that. Look absolutely fabulous darling 💓💓💓 lol jokes aside. You make me want to go out and buy another sewing machine but I just bought a Cricut machine. Anyway love the dress think I may actually attempt it . Thank you for the inspiration.
