"Amie" was one of my favorite songs in the seventies. And the chords are so easy, I can now play the tune myself. Funny how so many songs are based on three basic chords.
At the college bar back in the early '80s, singing along with this tune.

Joanne I've been listening to Amie for nearly fifty years. Still have my vinyl of Bustin' Out. Began to learn guitar March 2022. Amie is at the top of my list of songs to learn. I'm sure the "call and response" intro will be a big hurdle. But let's see where I am 1/15/2024.

Back in the spring of 2000 I was moving from Alaska back to Texas for a job. It was the wee hours after a dark & cloudy night. Felt like it was just dying to burst a cloud or two all over I-5 outside of Fresno on I-5. Just me and one other car for miles and he's been on my ass for a while. Next thing a car flies up the on ramp and the two of these cars were trying to shove me off the road. These boys clearly have never got in the way of a Texas boy trying to get home from a frozen winter in Alaska. Bad mistake. Long story short, and admitting to nuthin, I was the one to make it home unscathed. The next hundred miles was repeats of this song in the CD player. How very apropos!

My parents named me after this song. Bc my dad’s band did an outstanding cover of it when it first came out in 1975 or so I’ve heard lol. "Amie", a track that originally appeared on their 1972 album Bustin' Out.but dad forgot how to spell it or something so I’m actually named spelling wise after the play girl of the month of January 😂
