I Visited the IIT Campus and Interviewed Illinois Tech Students

- I took a tour of the Illinois Tech Campus, and interviewed two 3rd-year IIT students to learn more about what it's like to study at IIT. It was great getting to visit after doing a virtual Youniversity episode on Illinois Tech. They have an amazing campus with rich architecture and advanced technology, and you're definitely going to like it there.

Thanks! And yeah, I would absolutely recommend the on-campus housing options over anything else just because it's going to be cheaper if you stay on campus. Off Campus I wouldn't go much further south of the Hyde Park neighborhood. It gets sketchy when you go southside Chicago. However most all the neighborhoods to the north and somewhat to the west are safe. North is more expensive, west is harder to get to campus. The Scholars Corner Apartments in Hyde Park would cost about the same as on-campus and are in a great location.

After watching all videos about south Chicago and IIT neighborhood. It really scares me a lot. Being an international student, US nightlife always fascinates me (downtown vibes etc) but now it seem like I’m going to shutter island. What about UIC neighborhood? Does it have same condition as of IIT?
UIC is just a 10 minute train ride north and it's in the nicest part of town, I think I showed some shots of it in the intro. Chicago is actually very safe. The "loop" neighborhood is the nicest part of town, and the neighborhoods north of that towards Wrigley Field are also very nice and clean. The western areas outside of the loop aren't the best but they're not bad, I actually filmed the intro to my Beloit College video from a park in that area and it was totally fine.
The area surrounding IIT is safe. It's when you go another 10-15 minutes south at night that you're entering some dangerous territory. But I walked around the area, flew my drone, had all my equipment on me, and nothing happened.
At night I walked around the Loop to get some shots of the city and while I was approached by a few homeless people (and probably some former prison inmates), I just talked to people and they were nice. They were just looking for a free cigarette or some cash, but they weren't aggressive or violent.
Understand that you always hear about the worst things on the news. The more you read the scarier it is. But when you spend time in the city, you realize it's not that bad.

Is Spring intake good at IIT for ITM program??
If you're a brand new student I'd still suggest entering in the fall semester with most of the other first years, but if you're transferring you could do spring intake.

I applied for a PhD degree in Environmental Engineering and I'm eager for the final decision. You guys made me grow thrilled 😄

Majorly an architectural student
Chelsea was architecture, I know she's not international but hit her up on her instagram and ask if she can put you in touch with an international archicture student too, that could work
