I’m not laying in bed, but sitting on it. And toking green leafy substance. I’ve been watching “Unsolved Mysteries” since its original time slot on NBC. Robert Stack’s voice itself made this show.
This surfacing of the styrofoam container from out of nowhere, in the middle of the ocean, is nothing else but a divine miracle and intervention. He made it.
I was 26 when this happened in 1990, and I regret the others are presumed dead. But I see the survivor as God’s Will, and yet I’m probably wrong due to the other three. Triumph with tragedy.
Another memorable episode of “Unsolved Mysteries” is the horror story of the Horicon, Wisconsin demon. And the bunk bed.

These two grown men had just got there with a boat to put it in the water but had locked their keys in the truck. The window was cracked about 2 inches. He asked me "if I pick you up, can you reach in and unlock the door for me?" My sister and I looked at each other, and I said, "sure". @Morphelia Sorry but his point is exaggerated. Plenty of people hitchhike and pick up hitchhikers with no incident. Is there a tiny chance you will die? Sure, but plenty of other things are more likely to kill you. The probability of being murdered is incredibly small. More people have died in plane crashes than people have been murdered, hitchhiking. Does that mean you should never air travel? Of course not. This is just fearmongering.

@@erickanew same - I had a sinking feeling the same as when I watched the other episode about the Greg guy who was a cop who turned out to be the killer (and only got 8 years!!!) and the other episode where the male friend tried to make out that the young woman insisted on getting a lift back with 2 men and it turned out that he had raped and murdered her. I think he killed them all and made it all up and is calling these families himself I bet it’s him. It’s awful but I bet it’s him because it’s all going by his say so and that Joanna Lees mystery in Australia where everyone originally believed her even though she had another lover she was wanting to meet up with in Europe and she wasn’t getting along with Peter Falconio the point I’m trying to make is when there is only one survivor they can make up anything and I bet he wanted them all dead for some reason probably to gain their life insurance I bet. It doesn’t ring true at all. It’s all by his recollection and he could be saying anything.

One guy really seemed like it, he wore leather gloves the entire ride, didn't say anything but was listening to Frank Zappa in a spotless car with entomology flyers sitting around, right when we got out my girlfriend was like "did he feel like a serial killer you?" And I said "I was just about to ask you the same thing". But sometimes it's a pain getting a ride but you understand why people are cautious of you too like you are of them.

Why would you go to her house if the fear of being arrested made you leave not even 5 mins later? Especially when the mother wasn't being mean towards you at all. He ran away because he didn't wanna be a dad. He could've sent money or even waited til Mary was 18 to ask for marriage. Then, he waits until he's old & the child is well past 18 to want to reconnect. Please. Just a selfish old creep who wanted to feel better about abandoning his child.

In my opinion Philip needed to be travelling in a more powerful truck than that run down car, going through all that wilderness. There is always a danger too of being attacked by a Mountain Lion or Bear.

It’s really sad there was never justice in this case. At the same time, you have to wonder what possessed him to pick this guy up? Especially if he was trying to pull away from him while the passenger door was open. Then add in the fact that the 2nd couple who found the hitchhiker let him sleep next to the gun cabinet?? My own story from 2015: I was born in Seattle in 1973, where I grew up. Japanese-American. Male. (this IS important, because you have to consider what I LOOK like) Since 2012, Vancouver BC has been my favorite vacation spot. Before the pandemic, once a year, I liked to go out to Kelowna BC, even driving East in Washington State, and driving North through US 97, then driving West back to Vancouver (great scenery). Well, in 2015, I entered at Osoyoos BC, North of Omac, Washington. This time in 2015, I did NOT drive North to Kelowna. Instead, literally one mile North of the border crossing, I went West on BC 3 towards Hope BC, to Vancouver. Well, literally a HALF mile from turning left, West on BC 3, an attractive 16 year old Native American girl stuck out her thumb, asking me for a ride. I didn't stop. I kept driving. How do I know that if I stopped the car, some accomplice hiding behind a tree or rock wasn't going to come in, on cue, and ambush me? How does SHE know that I'M not some "bad scary guy," despite my "harmless nerdy appearance?" No question in my mind, from that moment in 2015, to now, and every moment in between, that I did the right thing, by NOT even THINKING about giving her a ride. Oh Oh!! I have a friend named BJ, who's 5'6", 375 pounds. Back in 1993, I told BJ, "Never ever pick up a hitchhiker!" BJ asked me, "What if she's a hot woman?" Come on BJ, ESPECIALLY hot women! It's a RUSE!
