Throw the ball backwards get tackled, throw the ball backwards get tackled. To start with AFL isn’t a game. I’ve played both games I like the league but Aussie rules is a lot harder. League player don’t have to bounce the ball while running, you can see the tackles coming,in Aussie rules you can get hit from any angle, you have to follow a man and stop him from getting a kick. A lot more running, in league just throw the ball away, you can’t do that in Aussie rules. Mark the ball ,bounce the ball, tackle, stop your opponent, run at least 15 kilometres a game, get tackled many times and get up. Rugby league get the ball run a bit throw it away, once in a while you will get crunched but in Aussie rules many times a game.

Yep, that's a great comment. Both games are great and are enjoyable to play and watch. 100% true. AFL requires a lot more running/stamina and the tackles can come from anywhere. So you have to be aware, but in the NRL the tackles are coming in front of you. You know a hit is coming as soon as you get the ball. In AFL, they can come from any angle or position so them guys gotta be sharp with in seconds to make a decision with the next play.

Play can be quickly transitioned via kicks, marks, unrestricted running and, as you so helpfully pointed out, improvisation such as kicking the ball along the ground.
This is shown in the average distance covered by players in each code. The average rugby player covers 7 KM whilst the average AFL player covers double that at over 14 KM.

The grand final needs to be played all over the country, not just the MCG. I've switched to NFL (which is becoming hugely popular in Australia) because I love seeing the Superbowl in all the different venues and seeing what each city has to offer. Rugby is still my number 1 but I love NFL, Basketball and F1 way more than AFL. Plus AFL is one of the worst games to watch live. I went to the SCG April last year and watched Sydney vs Essendon which was a good game but all the action took place on the opposite side of the field to me, so I spent the whole game watching the big screen, I could have done that at home on my 82inch 4K TV with surround sound on for atmosphere.

AFL moved Swans to Sydney and merged Fitzroy with the Brisbane Bears to create a strong presence in Brisbane. Now there are 2 more teams north of the Barassi line for a total of 4.
