The game of Basketball has been my passion since I was 5 years old. I grew up as a kid watching my dad's recorded VHS tapes of playoff games through the 70s and 80s, and collected all the Basketball cards. Something about the game and what it represents just hooked me from a very young age.
My love for the game only continues to grow as time goes on. I love studying and analyzing the game, with an unbiased perspective. Feel free to subscribe, follow me on social media, and celebrate this amazing game and it's rich history with me!
I post videos every week on NBA history, predictions, hypothetical scenarios and current NBA topics.

Hey man. You are a CZcams GAHHD bro! I literally cannot tell you how appreciative I am to have this to watch 2 or 3 times in a row while I play 2k23. So many facts spit its hard to catch em all! It's basically my only life outside of work. Ik ik SHAMEEEE 😪 But yeah... for whatever this comment is worth, i humbly must say...we are def on the same level of knowledge with the NBA. Would give anything to talk basketball with ya. BTW I do graphic design work. Lemme know if youre ever interested in something for your channel. Much love from China Grove NC!
Iconic series bruh moments shoes mismatches etc
i am so so glad you mentioned the narratives around Jordan pre-titles. Way too many people today will apply hindsight to those years and act like Jordan was never ever criticized whatsoever. Those narratives obviously went away when he started winning, and they don't seem to understand how that works. I would like to see a video about other forgotten negative narratives about him and other greats if there's enough material to make one.
The part where you said Jordan proved you don't have to be a facilitator to win the game what do you think he did the first half he facilitated the whole first half just so he can blow him out scouring wise so you don't make sense... What Jordan proved was that he is a facilitator and a deadly scorer
I forgot Drexler airballed his 3 right before Jordan made his 6th. Makes the whole thing so much better. Lol
I swear you comment on every one of Jonny’s vids
@@Corb13if you’re a fan of Jonny you should think this is a good thing no? Means hes getting his views/comments & more than likely his likes. Why try and shit on someone for something like this?
Still the better shooter
@@yallTweakin I’m not I was just noticing that
Great vid
"what a time to be a NBA fan in 2003"
That's a understatement Jonny.
Wtf dude. You put up a video every 2 days, all of them with at least basic edit work, and sometimes they are a fucking hour long.
You deserve recognition for that.
Btw, brazilian viewer here, keep it up please
The hour long videos are usually compilations of videos he already uploaded. But I really admire his dedication.
Bro is really grinding hard
Muito bom ver um brasileiro por aqui, achei que era o único que conhecia esse canal
Is it a one-man-team?
The NBA on NBC theme song was so epic. Just hearing it brings back so many memories.
Cant wait to see paul pierce in game 1 of the finals on here
Is that when he shit his pants
@@Crankyham422 yep
@@Crankyham422 The Truth
The shit my pants game is iconic RIP to the toilet lol
Man I miss that NBA on NBC music
Same here!
A.I. in the tunnel is so funny. You see Kobe in the tunnel with his team "focus, execute, win"
A.I singing "Lets get dirty" by Redman outloud
One of the amazing things about Jordan is that there seems to be an extra layer of forgotten context around so many of his amazing moments. The switch-hands layup was the last of 13 straight field goals and after his attempts at being a team-first guy not working. The fact that Michael specifically dropped those three-pointers against Drexler to prove a point to Magic Johnson and the world.
He was able to get to 63 playoff points against the Celtics because he hit every free-throw, with no time remaining after being fouled at the three-point line, and just in his second year in the league.
In Utah, he dunks on John Stockton and then the jazz owner yells at him to “pick on somebody your own size!“ Next time down the court, he dunks on seven footer, Mel Turpin… But what you don’t know is that he also had a dunk over 7’4” “Mount (Mark) Eaton.“
When he got his career high 69 points, it was because the Cleveland paper that morning said “Ehlo, good defender of Jordan.” That also happens to be Jordan‘s career high for rebounds at 18 and statistically, the most impactful single game of any player since the ABA merger.
… I could go on lol
is glazing all you do
That Mel Turpin story is one of my favorites. You forgot to include how he said "Was he big enough?" as a response to the "Pick on someone your own size" line.
The NBA gave Jordan special treatment. There was no rules for him. The darling of the NBA to sell tickets😮.
Wake up
@@lance1097 There's a popular belief that Jordan's retirement was actually a secret suspension. If what you're saying is true, then it was not a secret suspension and was actually a retirement. Preach that to all your fellow LeBron fans please.
@@davidmartinez52420 actually, I don't care for LeBron either. He's another golden child in the NBA
Our love for our grandmas always bring the best out of us RIP KOBE
Damn it’s crazy how Jordan’s career and Kobe’s ascendence is like something you’d see in a movie or anime. 😂
I didn’t know Kobe Grandma was at that game. The only professional game of his she saw in person makes it extra special. Kobe is a beast my favorite player of alltime
The Ai step over is iconic !!
Jordan was so fast, the cameras couldn't keep up with him,
you wouldn't know what he did until they showed the replay
The 2003 NBA All-Star Game was a great game.
Jermaine O'Neal and Steve Francis who participated in the All-Star Game were very strong NBA players.
Jermaine o’neal was awesome, one of the best shotblockers of the 2000s
@@TellHerNothingone of the least respected 6X all stars in league history fs. In my opinion Alonzo Mourning is the best shot blocker in the 2000's not named Mutombo even with his injuries. His blocks per 36 is actually higher than Dikembe
@speedygonzalezma no one gives af about per 36 😂 that is fantasy this ain’t 2k you clown. Fatigue is a thing. You ever think maybe there was a reason he wasn’t playing 36 a game?
@@TellHerNothingyooo ur the one that uploaded that John Ross interview??? Insane crossover💀💀💀💀
Imagine an Allstar game with good defence. Miss those days.
Total points scored after 2 overtime is less than 4 quarters of todays all star games.
Jordan scoring three pointers when he felt like making a point, Magic scoring from the post when Hakeem was injured, and the realisation that Bird actually was a very good defensive player if you look at the advanced stats, those are three great hold my beer moments from the three greats from the golden era.
This video is keeping me calm on my airplane. Thanks for your interesting content that can keep me distracted.
That was 1 hr already? Time flies when listening to you man. What a great treat for us, all thanks to our man, Jonny Arnett. You are the true GOAT!
Jordan actually proves a point in that blazers series that he could shoot 3s if he wanted which also proves he could dominate todays game as well. He would probably break some type of 3 point record because he made it personal lol
Yea he could shoot when the 3pt line was shortened besides that he was a crap shooter. And that was when the 3pt shot wasn’t as heavily guarded as it is now
I forgot how good that Bryant/Jordan all-star game was.
All these images are so cold 🥶🥶🥶🥶🥶
38:53
Love seeing MJ hit those 6 3s in one half after people were saying he can’t shoot them. 😂
Excellent stuff. The Dr. J vs Bird bit reminded me why I hate all the posturing and flexing in today's NBA, none of those flexers would dream of throwing a punch, let alone take one.
Dr j was a coward. What's so brave about him taking that punch?? Imagine if a gang of of white guys did that to him
Draymond would but not when the other guy is looking 😂
40:15 Of course MJ could thrive in this league now. Folks forget Jordan was obsessed with being better than his competition and constantly improving. That man would probably spend all day and everyday in the gym, to be the best 3 pt shooter if need be.
Jonny arnett is better than most CZcamsrs with a million plus subscribers he deserves a million
💯💯
Why do people make these cringe comments.. lol 😂
Now that I think about it is kinda cringe
Jordan has said he saw Perkins move to his right on the dunk attempt so he switched hands to avoid getting stuffed.
This is a friggin great video. I love historical nba content. The 90s nba on NBC intro hit me right in the childhood, so thanks for that!
I tell you maaaan🙏🏼❤️
That sound just gives that feeling of excitement that was missing for many many many years. What a time to be a young fan. True and dedicated fan. Awesome stuff🤙🏼👍🏼🫡
This video was just fun to watch. With some coffee & donuts, it was bliss. Thank you & keep up the good work🙏🏻
Jonny Arnett and JxmyHighroller are the best NBA CZcamsrs out there. No clickbaits, no annoying voice, and sometimes a little humor from Jxmy. NBA YT 🐐s.
Jonny is way more knowledgeable but Jxmy's cinematics are amazing. I enjoy both their content but Jonny's is superior.
Damn I wish I knew about that 13th shot cause some1 was trying say it was overrated 😂
In the 2001 lakers run.
Blazers in first round
Kings in second round
And another amazing fact about how good they were that year.
They beat the spurs in game 3 by 39 points. And 29 points in game 4.
This video was awesome!
A great deep dive.
To add just a touch more to fully DESTROY this bullshite "SHAQ CARRIED KOBE during the 3peat narrative:
Shaq fouled out of game 4 vs. SAC... Kobe took over - as usual when Shaq had to sit. Finished that game with 48 pts and 16 rebounds.
THEN came game 1 vs. those badass Spurs: 45 pts and 10 rebounds for Kobe.
So, 2 Co secutive playoff games against 2 teams FAR better than anyone the East had to offer, and Kobe went for 93 pts and 26 rebounds. For those 2 series, Kobe went 35 pts, 9 reb, 4+ ast, 47+% fgs vs. SAC, then 33+ pts, 7 reb, 7 ast. on 51+% fgs vs. the Spurs.
Shaq was mostly very good in both series (esp. the first 2 games vs. SAC), but somewhat sporadic. They had NOBODY reliable besides those 2. The others - D. Fisher, Horace Grant, R. Fox, B. Shaw, etc. -- those guys were mostly steady on defense, so-so on offense. They NEEDED Kobe to dominate in those Western Conf. playoffs, and he WAS: numbers FAR BETTER than his career stats. When the Lakers needed more from Kobe in ANY of their playoff games during the 3peat, he always showed up.
Forgot to mention his defense: held both the guys he primarily guarded on SAC & S.A. to sub-40% fgs. Sort of like how in 2000 vs. Portland when he switched over to Damon Stoudemire, he put CLAMPS on Mighty Mouse, even though he was a quick PG. Kobe averaged over 2 blocks per game in that 7 game series.
And Antonio Daniels (Spurs SG) was another super-quick guy, more of a PG but was their best perimeter scorer... he scored some pts, but shot miserably w/KBB guarding him.
Just thought some of you could appreciate digging into a few more facts abt the 3peat Lakers and just how much Kobe was being "CARRIED BY SHAQ."
that Jordan shrug game hitting those 3s and the context around it is just too good. It’s like when Jordan played point guard for a brief time and was putting up triple doubles and very high assist numbers while basically every game he did it. He could easily do everything on the court at a high level if that’s what was required of him, no doubt he’d adapt and thrive in the modern era.
Make a top 10 best scorers of all time video or a top 10 best passers of all time video
Great idea.
The wrong thing in this content is The ‘01 playoffs has the Lakers face the blazers in the first rd then the kings in the semis. That was when Kobe did back to back 40 and 10 games in game 4 against the kings and Game 1 against the Spurs. Overall, i love this channel so much!
Yep. More specifically, Kobe went for 48 pts and 16 rebounds to close out the SAC series, in a game where Shaq fouled out, so the Lakers needed Kobe to go big. He did.
Game 1 vs. the Spurs: 45 pts and 10 rebounds. It put the Spurs on notice: you can give Shaq a tough time with Timmy and David Robinson, but Kobe was going to make them pay. They went on to sweep and send the Lakers into the Finals, where Shaq would dominate vs. ancient Dikembe Mutombo. Kobe throttled his game down, so people like to say he choked, or just that Shaq carried him. Neither was strictly true, but people will believe whatever fits their biases. So I like to remind folks that, against the MUCH STRONGER Kings and Spurs teams (I also think Portland was better than anyone in the East, but that's MY bias), KOBE DOMINATED, even moreso than Shaq.
That is how you get "carried" when your name is Kobe Bean.
The way the game started back in the nineties, hearing the commentator's voice, Just gave me chills and brought me back to my teenage years!
Hey Jonny keep up the good work man I just love your vids so much ❤
NBA on NBC hit differently
That NBA 90s theme song made me pull up with a bowl of cereal. Childhood triggered. Great video, Jonny Arnett. A great series for my crew of OGs.
I needed this I'm so close to finishing all of your videos
The long vids go hard
What a nice basketball documentary. Really enjoyed this!
Love these deep dives. Thank you so much for all the work you put in. You have consistently great content.
That Pistons team wasn’t the same without prime Ben Wallace and coach Brown.
Think about this. Magic was a 5 time champion and assist leader by his 11th or 12th season. Him and bird are two of the luckiest players drafted in nba history. Both of them got drafted to great teams. If Jordan got drafted by any of those two teams, just imagine how many rings he would have. More than both of them combined.
I loved this series!! Glad to see you’ve added to it.
52:22 That lebron punching giannis while AD holding him is a crazy one dude🤣. AD definitely miss a season or two after that.
I just arrived, but I'm certain this is another banger from Jonny.
MJ said he saw Sam Perkins and did it but he left out AC Green, Magic and Worthy coming with him too 😭😭😭😭😭
Great stuff. You're so good at setting the scene and bringing the important aspects and background facts to life that the end narrative always blows your mind.
Really really really great job. That's what I like : the context, the history : the real narrative of this sport
Loving your recent stuff, really engaging, keep it up!
Kobe is something special glad I had the opportunity to witness greatness
New 2 ur page and a basketball LOVER.
Man I thank god I found ur page ur elite and get me through the day and inspired me to go watch that 76 vs lakers series thank u for ur content
I’ve been on the train that game 6 VS Boston was and is the greatest performance I’ve seen from James. But after listening to your explanation… my opinion may have been changed 😂 well done Jonny, well done.
Excellent job 👍 I would love more of that series.
Keep going
What a banger of a video! One of the best sports videos I've personally watched! I'd love to see this become a series.
Wow brother. You smashed another vid. Keep going bro. Fantastic!
Damn you can literally feel the excitement in that arena when Wilt hit that last shot to reach 100
This and the under rated player series got me so locked in to the channel...good stuff right here
JVG's Koala Bear impression on Zo better be on here lol...
How Jordan looked at Kobe after he missed that free throw in OT is just 😂😂😂😂
30:26 I’d love to see some type of collab from you & JxmmyHxghroller in the future. You guys are the best in NBA CZcams rn
Long time subscriber. You’re awesome bro. Excellent video work and storytelling as always.
lebron v cavs is one of the most dominate and impressive moments in basketball history. it's insane what he did. unbelievable. like "if this was a movie no one would believe it could happen" level stuff. it's all made even more ridiculous given the players lebron had on the cavs. how the hell was he able to get THAT TEAM to the finals?!
Awesome video. Top notch. Thank you 🙏
I don’t really watch long videos but this video had me hooked had to watch all the way to the end 🔥
That all-star game, Jordan in fact did hit the game winner. Idk what the hell the refs were thinking calling a foul on that 3pt attempt by Kobe. They sure ruined a story book ending 😂
Always with the heat we love you man damn it you’re consistent! Thank you dog I always have something to watch on break or at home after work. Thanks dog.
Outstanding content. I've never heard any radio of wilts 100 point performance. The entire video and all your work is Outstanding!
So many great memories! Thank you for this video. I haven't watched a live NBA game since KD's mom "sonned" him in the 2017 Finals. This reminded me why I used to love the game.
You got it wrong in 2001 playoffs the Lakers swept the Blazers 3-0 in first round 9:1 and the Kings 4-0 in the second round. You have it the other way around.
The shrug still gets me.
Great job on the video!👏
That’s one of the greatest videos about NBA basketball on CZcams nowadays🙏💪
Great video! I'd love to see Giannis's iconic block of the 2021 NBA finals included.
More Jordan highlights. Gee, haven't seen that before.
Amazing work on this video…!!!
that Iconic layup happened, because he knew when he jumped, that he won't reach the rim... so he needed to improvise. and he made it more magical...
Nice video, Johnny!
Many blessings from the Holy Santos 🙏 😊
Never heard of the commentator from the 100 Point game. That was really nice!
I'm gonna watch this video with my brothers
This is SUCH a great video!
love the videos❤
He said on his video, the shrug was in effect he said "It's not me it's the moment".
I AGREE, the 2007 performance by Lebron against the beast of the East Pistons at that time, was Lebron's greatest game ever, hands down.
I remember watching it and feeling just Steve Kerr said "very Jordaness" of Lebron.
I wanted him to be that kind of player his whole career, unfortunately he hasn't been that kind of player, but yet still one of the greatest of all time.
2009, 2012, 2013, 2016 and 2018 postseason runs were a lot more consistent imo. He's not bringing that every game though
This the first time I’ve ever heard audio of Wilts 100pt game. Crazy! Thank you Jonny 🙏🏾
Thank you for this video love the Kobe and Jordan story
Nice Video, I sure am up for more of it. How about a less serious one, the wheelchair Pierce photo
Game 5 on 07 was legendary the. Game 1 of 07 finals……God Tier
Love the vids
Correction the AFC Championship was played in the afternoon and the NFC Championship was actually on at the same time as the Lakers game.
I love your channel and you're probably the most knowledgeable NBA youtuber.
Great work!
T Lue is one of secret weapons on 2K. Ppl try too hard to break his ankles because they don't know he's actually a good defender
Is that not Mj's voice saying that's all I needed when you are describing Kobe and the tech against him ? Sounds like it to me 😮
This is the Kobe Bryant channel!
This is an amazing video!
goddamn bird shooting w left hand 50:00
I think we gitta celebrate the warrior who got back to back rebounds for wilt when wilt was 98, prob the greatest assist in NBA HISTORY
what?
I love reliving Jordan moments/games….. he was Superman growing up , I was born when he was a tar heel
