God, I literally just went "man, Tom Ross is going to get blown out by Solitude this match, isn't he" then the Terminus reminded me that life was better in 2014.
I constantly revisit videos like these from 6-8 years ago when everything was just... good :)
I do the same! I'm also working on assembling gauntlets of decks from this era to play for fun. No Solitudes in this house!

That game 2 was just incredible well played by Tom (Blood Moon turn)
Back then good players made sick plays with simple cards.
These days overloaded power crept cards make shit players looks decent
Ross's play is so clean. I've watched a bunch of his matches now and I'm not sure I've seen a single time when he made any definitive misplay.
Animating both inkmoths and attacking with three creatures was a missplay. Duke could only have 1 swords (he had only 1 card) and was on 9 poison. This way he would get destroyed by terminus. Therefore it was better to only animate 1 nexus and attack with that nexus and the elf.
@@wowmafkees He needed to attack with all 3 to beat entreat the angels for x=2 in that spot. If it's terminus then Reid lives and they're top decking. But if Tom only animates one nexus and it's entreat, he basically loses on the spot. So yeah, hard to find an actual misplay.
Tom dwan and Tom Ross both look similar. And make ridiculously smart plays in their respective game poker and magic.

Its cool to see Infect! I also built an Infect deck but its very different from Tom's deck, I use *Tyvar's Stand* and *Tamiyo's Safekeeping* to protect my infect creatures but seeing as this match was a long time ago these cards were not yet released so he didn't have access to them. I also use *Slip Through Space* , *Distortion Strike* , and *Artful Dodge* to make my infect creatures unblockable *{::>_

@@RealBakedShark yeah that would be great if toirnament organizers would allow them... Everybody in my group here stopped playing. Unfortanetly a closest Shop is 200km away.
@@kikikirikiw that’s a bit far ;). But yea with proxies you could try to get a few friends back playing to play some kitchen table legacy. I started using proxies to play with friends that didn’t want to play magic because of the price tag. Now they love it!

Magic in 2014 had its own quirks and flaws, but god damn its sooo much better than the garbage game we are left with today
