There are a lot of different reasons you would need to replace a rim or your spokes. Spokes can go missing or they might be broken or bent. Same thing with your rim, if it's cracked or badly bent you may want to replace it. This video demonstrates the proper way to tear down a motorcycle wheel and then also how to properly re-lace the wheel with a new spoke kit and a new rim. After you get done lacing a wheel it will need to be properly trued and all the spokes tightened to spec. For this you can refer to our wheel truing video. Wheel maintenance is an important part to your wheels lasting a long time. Check out our other video showing the proper way to tighten motorcycle spokes after each ride. Rocky Mountain ATV/MC carries all the OEM and aftermarket parts you could need to rebuild your dirt bikes wheels. My kx's rear wheel spokes got snapped when i was trying to tighten them so this is most definitely helpful
Thank you very much for the video, as I was swapping rims from one wheel to another I was keeping the spokes so I use and old credit card cut into strips to put on the spokes before clamping so as not to scratch them.
Thank rocky mountain atv mc for this info..
Thanks, just the info I was looking for!
Nice throw man and great video
What a shot! Hahah that was pretty awesome
can somebody tell me what size spoke wrench I need for a ttr 230 front tire? also I can't find spokes for it anywhere so I'm assuming they are interchangeable with some other bike?
I put triflow on the nipples every couple of months to make sure they never freeze up. also spray the spokes with lube before adding the nipples. It will make assembly smoother and eliminate binding when tightening.
What is the most common size of the hole on the rim
Ahhhhhh I was going to ask about anti seize. I wondered if it would allow the nipples to self rotate and loosen. I’ve done it on my mountain bike wheels without issue but the speed I go on those isn’t close to the speed I’d be going on my motorbike.
Nice voice over Cam
What size of bit are you using on the drill to tighten the spokes?
How do you check if your hub is in center??????
Hey I just did this on my ttr110 and it is really loose even though I tightened all of the nipples what do I do
why do i feel like he smiles every time he says 'nipples' :)
Hi Guys, do you anyone that supply a new set of anodised wheels/hubs for a 1991 Yamaha YZ125 please? 🙏🏻✊🏻
Ya i painted my rim and now im not sure how to put on the spokes again
What kind of motorcycle wheel is that one?, I have a Tusk rim and spoke kit for a 2007 crf450r and the spokes seem to be too long, maybe I need a different pattern than the one shown here?
Miguel Nader I went and inspected the spokes that come with the rim and spoke kit. It comes with two different lengths of spokes. Your service manual will tell you where each length of spoke goes. Are you installing the correct spoke in the right spot? If this doesn't help, let me know and we can see about getting the correct spokes for you.
Miguel Nader What wheel are you lacing, front or rear? I only checked the rear for you.. So let me know if it is the front you are doing and i can go look at those for you aswell. Thanks
spoke salvage last about 5 years they tend to season or break after five years
Would I follow the same procedure to lace a 32, and a 28 spoke wheel. I have a CRF 150RB with 19" and 16" wheels.
😊😊😊😊😊
hi, can i rebuild a wheel without changing the hubs? the rims i have came from aprilia mx 125 and the hubs came from derbi terra 125? possible?
I have a Yamaha wr250r and the front had 2 different lengths. I didn’t look when I took them off. Do you know if the longer ones go inside or outside
Inside
I'm lacing the front wheel with tusk rim and tusk 21"spokes on a crf 450r 2007,
Miguel Nader Ok, for the front 21" wheel they're all the same length spoke. You shouldn't have an issue with them being to long. Unless.. you ordered the spoke kit for the wrong machine or the spoke kit was packaged wrong? Can you measure a couple of your spokes and tell me what you get? I can check the length on ours here in the warehouse and see what we get? Thanks
Miguel Nader In inches: 9 - 9/16" In MM: 242mm
Rocky Mountain ATV MC
they are all the same lenght and angle, I am using the same pattern as you did in the video, i think i got the wrong spokes sent by mistake, already talked to the guys and the right set is on the way.
can be dangerous driving DT with 25 spokes 10 Ms in manufacturers recommend to replace all sports not 10 all depends if they in great condition
Can you replace one spoke at a time instead of of removing all of them and replacing all of them?
For example loosen all of them but ONLY replace one spoke at a time ?
You will just need to re-true the wheel but if the other spokes are in good condition to use again there's no reason you couldn't replace just one spoke. It would also be a good opportunity to put some anti seize on the nipple threads to save some hassle down the road! Thanks for checking out the video!
1:25 had me dying!!! 🤣
Hahahahaha nipples! Wow
Do u have a bf?
@@johnnybeddi547 not anymore 😂
Is 36holes Rim can be installed in 32holes Hub? I bought 36holes Rim but the Hub have only 32Holes?
Nope.
what is the things called? someone please answer me my suzuki jr50 back wheel broke
Sorry, what things are you talking about?
Well I have spent over half an hour looking for the how to true spokes video and I give up. A link would have been good but I guess that would be to hard.

Y'all in Denver
Close! .. Utah.
Isn't it important which spoke and hole you start with? I once built a bicycle wheel but started with the wrong spoke, which resulted in the valve stem being located under a pair of crossed spokes. This made it almost impossible to inflate the tire!
+SatansSpatula It doesn't matter.
Bro, you might have just saved me a gd migraine. I'm about to do my first one!
Awesome, good luck!
Rocky Mountain ATV MC. hello rocky mountain i been hearing alot good things about tusk rim do they offer blue color like execel
This did not work for my bike I have more spokes should have said in the video how many spokes you had I total
Hy. Can you shiping your tools to Hungary?
I wanna buy a lot of tools....
Thx
kkredmin Yep! Here is the link to the shipping info for your country www.rockymountainatvmc.com/International/HU
Thanks.
kkredmin You Bet!
I really don't wanna take off the tire😥
Good tutorial, but your website is terrible. If I want to change my wheel diameter, your website forces me to buy something that only fits on my bike. Why can't I just search for 19" wheels regardless of what model I have?
Ttr 230 wheels ?!
Make sure you don’t need all spikes, but the Iner and outer spokes need to line up.
There is no SSR as a selection for dirt bike.
Great job mentioning the dish measurement @.@
easy
the easiest
Consider changing your voice over at the beginning of the video to have the viewer note the difference between any spokes as visible PRIOR to disassembly of the original wheel/rim configuration to determine that which could avoid having to hunt down the manufacturer's information about spoke type, placement, and orientation?
Whenever I swap out a tube and tire, I always clean my rims, and spray some WD-40 on the nipples, wipe off the excess and install the rim band. NEVER use duct tape.
My 1995 CR250R wheels look as good as my ‘19 wheels, just not black.........
A spoke torque wrench is a great tool to own. Takes the guesswork out of it. Spokes are to be checked before every ride, just like your tire pressure. Especially on a new bike.
You didn’t mention anything about offset.
Really is the song necessary? Why does an educational video have some stupid metal song
Can you just change the spokes one at a time ?
Sure. But you'll still want to true the wheel after.
