  • Reports indicate China’s war games surrounding Taiwan might be more than games, with a possible invasion in the coming week. Some say this is China saber rattling while getting their army ready for an invasion in the next few years. "On Balance” host Leland Vittert asks, “If you are Chinese President Xi Jinping and see polling showing Donald Trump’s likely victory in November, why wouldn’t you invade now?” John Bolton, former national security adviser, joins “On Balance” to weigh in.

    "On Balance with Leland Vittert" takes a critical look at some of the day's hottest subjects. Weekdays at 7p/6C. #OnBalance

    Educate yourself first. Taiwan is a province name of China. In constitutions of PRC and ROC, they claim both Chinese Mainland and Taiwan as their territory.

    • @blackrebelz
      @blackrebelz Před 26 dny

      Incorrect. When the ROC Constitution does not list Taiwan as a territory. Why? Because Taiwan was under JAPANESE rule when the constitution was written. Taiwanese status a province of the ROC was never formalized. That said, the. PRC has never had any clear legal claim over Taiwan. The US only acknowledges (NOT formally agrees with) China's claim that the Taiwan is a part of China. Taiwan technically has the right to self-determination under UN statutes, but China is never going to allow for that.

    • @Qiushishuo
      @Qiushishuo Před 26 dny

      @@blackrebelz Incorrect. In current ROC and PRC constitutions, Taiwan and Chinese mainland are covered. China took back Taiwan after WWII. If you deny it, you are trying to deny the post WWII orders, including Japanese surrender. Regarding US, maybe you think it is your god, but it is not for other countries. It has no right to settle the asset of China or other independent countries. International recognition is important, but it is only valid under UN. Regarding UN, your information is wrong, self-determination cannot be used to break sovereignty, read it carfully. The UN GS speaker just explains that Taiwan is province of China. Got it?

    Simple. The US has invested billions and billions in Taiwan industry. China should not be able to just walk in and take over those assets. Understand that there are only a few specialized machines that can manufacture the computer chips of today, and they are located in Taiwan. If China takes those its game over. We will all be slaves to China at that point. The US should go in there, move over those industries and assets to the US mainland. Then, tell China they can have the left over island, and get this done and over once and for all.

    The Internet is a great thing because it allows people from different countries to understand each other.
    Let me talk about the Taiwan issue and my views on this military exercise as an ordinary China person.
    First of all, no matter how much you overestimate the Chinese people's will to wage war to liberate Taiwan, there is only one result: underestimation.
    You just don't understand that if one day the war to liberate Taiwan begins, 先登死士(the ones who charge ahead and die first) will have their own pages in the family genealogy (in China, every family has something called a family genealogy, similar to a small history book that records noteworthy members of the family, usually those who have contributed to the nation or the family. For example, in my family genealogy, it records the deeds of my ancestors before the 24th generation, resisting invaders and aiding the hungry……and ,my great-grandfather, who bravely fought against Japanese fascists on the battlefield during World War II and died a heroic death. I am proud of them!)
    Similarly, Taiwanese are actually Chinese at their core. They lack the spirit of resistance because deep down they know that resisting reunification is treason.
    Which Chinese person would resist reunification? In the late stages of World War II and during the Liberation War, the Nationalist Kuomintang's eight million American-equipped army was defeated by the Communist Party wearing straw sandals and armed mainly with bolt-action rifles.
    This was mainly because these Nationalist soldiers were also Chinese. Everyone understands very clearly: resisting reunification means not being able to join one's ancestors in the afterlife.
    It's better to surrender with both hands raised! Chinese don't fight Chinese!
    Actually, not many of these eight million troops were killed. Most of them joined the People's Liberation Army directly!
    It's strange to say that these demoralized people, once they joined the PLA, immediately became extremely brave and skilled warriors!
    For example, during the Korean War, these demoralized former Nationalist soldiers became fierce fighters who could resist the American army even with the simplest weapons.
    Think about it carefully,plz.
    Once Chinese people know what they are fighting for, they are truly invincible.
    Secondly, mainland China cannot regard Taiwan as a target. All Chinese people know this: if we can defeat the United States, then Taiwan is not a problem; if we cannot defeat the United States, Taiwan will always be a big problem.
    There is no Taiwan issue, only the China-US issue.
    Let me make it clear: the United States is looking for its "Ukraine" in Asia.
    Japan and South Korea have much longer histories than the United States and are not foolish.
    Moreover, in reality, Japan lacks resources, and South Korea? South Korea won't even consider going to war with China, especially with North Korea nearby, let alone Russia.
    And in history, Korea has always recognized China as the orthodox authority. If it weren't for China's repeated military interventions to save Korea, it would have been swallowed by Japan long ago.
    The Philippines? Perhaps the Philippines would be willing to help the United States, but their strength is insufficient. Moreover, in my opinion, the Philippines can shout loudly to get more money from the United States, but would they really attack China? Are they stupid? No.
    So, the United States may think that Taiwan is its last trump card?
    But I want to say, it's even less likely. Taiwanese are fundamentally Chinese-do I not understand Chinese people? Hahaha!
    They are much smarter than you imagine.
    In fact, China's exercises are not for the Taiwanese to see-they are for the Americans to see.
    The United States hopes to wage a limited war in East Asia. But China won't play along: if we fight, we will fight a world war, with the sole goal of defeating the United States!
    What if this war breaks out? China may be defeated and then retreat to lick its wounds. But we don't care; historically, we have licked our wounds at least 50 times if not 100 times, and we're used to it.
    What about the United States? Will the United States defeat China without paying a heavy price?
    And then? You have to think, who makes up the United States? They are not the Russian people, nor the Chinese people... Americans are citizens of the world, do you understand what I mean?
    "以势交者,势尽则疏;以利合者,利尽则散"(When forces intersect, they dissipate when exhausted; when interests converge, they disperse.)
    Consider carefully the meaning of the sentence above.
