- Welcome to the Power Apps Model-Driven Apps Step by Step series for the beginner. You are watching the seventh episode of this series and during this session, we will learn how we can create a business rule in Model-Driven Power Apps. First of all, we will try to understand what do we mean by Business rules in Model-Driven App? Sometimes, we need to calculate our field value based on other columns conditions. Sometimes we need to show or hide the fields based on the selection of other field values. How can we achieve these things? In Canvas App, we were writing Power Fx formulas. In the case of Model-Driven apps, we need to create a business rule.
Here, first, we will talk about what is a business rule? Then we will create a business rule and set the field value based on the condition. Once our business rule is created, we need to validate our business rule and apply our business rule!
So, let’s get started and learn business rules for Power Apps model-driven apps.

Great video Dhruvin. Is it possible to set values from a source as well? For example can I have it as Full time employee based on the selection? But instead of hard coding I want it to be sourced from whatever is selected on the form

6:52 Entity field is greyed out in the right side for me too. How can I update a field on a parent entity of this record, which is another table?

Hi Dhruvin,very well explanation. Field with type "Choices" is not visible as a part of Business Rule. "Choice" is working fine. What will be alternatives for "Choices" type.
Is there any way to set a business rule on a particular form? I need to make fields read-only on the Quick View form (related data component.)
you already set the Number of leaves by the type of Employee though Calculated filed then why you did it through Business Rule ? what are the differences ?
Great video can you advise how to validate fields on Text and Phone . Text should accept only chars and phone only numerics up to 10….
