I think Ryan will be the Superman of this universe, no matter what happens. He will find the right path eventually.
There's star man

In the sky
He'd like to come and meet us
he'd like to come and meet us

That's pretty sure that Ryan loves his mother more than anything and once ryan gets to know what homelander did to his mom, Ryan will surely go against homelander. I think people are really gonna question homelander for what ryan said about his being mother married to another man that's not homelander
I dont think the public knows homelanders normal name is john, and the pr team can just say his real name was billy
Homelander can say he didn't know Becca was married when he impregnated her (aka Becca lied about it).
Its still gonna raise red flags. Regardless of when Homelander or Vought says, people are gonna be curious about why Ryan said what he said the way he said it.
The other issue is billy butcher is known to the public.
@@fightingmedialounge519 Which is why Ryan didn't use Billy's last name.
In a world full of sociopathic and psychopathic supes. Ryan will stand out as truest and purest definition of a superhero.
Butchers eyes showing hope and appreciation for Ryan is straight up the best moment of the season for me 🥹
Some people can say the writing regarding ryan isnt consistent when in reality it is.
Remember what Volgumbaum said to HL? That if he was raised by a family and not scientists he wouldve turned out better?
Ryan is the scenario in which that did happen. HL is trying so hard to makw ryan be a copy of him when in reality he isnt.
Yes the behavior is there but hes more like Becca than HL. Ryan knows what right and whats wrong but the series is showing us that Ryan knows when its time to be ruthless and when its time to be sympathetic.
Hes going to bend. But he will never break
Ryan will be what his father would never be and what his grandfather tried to be. A real hero, that's why he'll be better by being a selfless protector.
Actually I find his writing very consistent. He’s becoming a teen so I don’t expect his behavior to be one sided.
ryan’s a trooper
Andddd just like Mark and Debbie Grayson from Invincible.
I like to think, in-universe, at least one of the people for the puppet show, probably a writer, was like "Hey guys, I looked up what indoctrinate means. I don't know, but I think we might be doing that. Are we the baddies?" and that person was immediately made disappear; either fired, "promoted and relocated", or worse.
Nah people like that , in the real world atleast, aren’t that self aware

“Don’t cut to commercial🥺”
I love how the parallelism between how Homelander demanded the team to keep rolling, threatening them if they did otherwise, while Ryan starts by asking them that they don't, and furthermore even saying "Please", Ryan wasn't demanding them he was asking from the bottom of his heart because he genuinely had something he thought people needed to hear
Ryan could start a new generation of superheroes who ACTUALLY DO the right thing.
This is like 90s family movie when dad doesn't show up for the kid's sport event or Christmas.
That actually hurt homelander
Ryan could never end up like Homelander, his mama taught him love and compassion way longer than he knew Homelander. He even asked Ashley to please let it not go to commercial, unlike his father

Homelander visibly acts like he got punched, you can tell hearing Ryan say “she loved her husband Billy.” and not say some lie on TV that “She loved my dad.” was DEVASTATING to Homelander.
Reminds me of when he said “Why don’t you get him to be your dad.”
It's incredible how in a similar situation Ryan is acting more mature than Homelander.
Being raised in a relatively stable environment instead of being raised as a lab rat helps a ton
I love how Ryan doing like when Homelander spoke his mind about Vought. You know. The I'm STRONGER scene?
Unlike his biological father, however, Ryan had more peaceful approach rather than pulling LOUDER-mean-BETTER way.
I almost cried at Butcher being proud of Ryan.

One of the best things this show did was make Billy an actual character and person.

Billy was a proud dad here.
I love the parallels between Homelander and Ryan. Not only this scene is a great contrast between Homelander's speech with how he's "better" and "the real hero" but also Ryan's demeanor when it comes to doing what he wants
Looking at the people on the set's reaction when Ryan stood up to speak the truth, they all looked terrified, like they were expecting for Ryan to act like Homelander, but instead his approach is...gentle, pleading instead of demanding to keep the cameras rolling. I live for these moments.
Also, I also love how Homelander did a 180 in this episode, the past episode he was gaining Ryan's trust by telling him that he doesn't have to do anything that he doesn't want and that no one can convince hom otherwise and here he's telling him to just roll with it. He doesn't want anyone controlling Ryan but HIMSELF.
The bit with Butcher at the end is such an awesome moment.
And there's our Superman fellas.
I'm calling it now, It's setting up the premise for the final conflict. One way or another, Ryan WILL stand against Homelander. Not just physically but ideologically as well.
ryan switching sides every episode
I can't believe nobody is realizing the puppets and puppeteers are a reference to Ave Q!!!!! Also, im pretty sure those are the actors doing a cameo.
Am I the only one hoping they make Ryan an Invincible-esque kind of superhero?
He’s going to be the Superman of the boys Universe and I’m here for it!

2:35 Billy's smile brings me hope and chill
Ryan could be the pivotal character that would end up being the ultimate equivalent to this universe's real Superman.
Here Ryan does what HL does by betraying the script for authenticity, but unlike Homelander in the times where he goes off the script, eg "I am better than you all", Ryan betrays it for something more heartfelt and genuine. Ryan and HL both have that bubbling authenticity that surfaces every now and then through the media facade, but it's clear that Ryan's authenticity is more in line with humanism, whereas Homelander just thinks he's better than everyone else.
Scorched Earth, but with Homelander and his son? Or maybe Butchers tumor can give him the power to pull it off?
Homelander should've been grateful that Ryan was actually raised by a real family instead of trying to make Ryan like him
He's far too spiteful and petty to have that empathy for letting someone else live a more fulfilled life. I get where he's coming from tbh. To see the younger generation getting things you wish you had growing up, can be really painful.
Homelander also needs to justify his existence saying his way is the only way, to make him feel better about himself.
His mother raised him well.
In a way Homelander should be proud of Ryan. Because Ryan stood up for his beliefs despite others not wanting him to. And in doing so, isn't being controlled and not letting others control him. Something Homelander wanted/wants for himself and for his son Ryan.
Justice for my man Rodger. All he wanna do is cut to commercial
Not many people get the reference between Ryan demanding Ashley to not switch to commercials, just as Homelander did. All in all, cool work by the team!
Loved Butchers little smile there, really was a proud step dad
There’s a star man moment
Homelander is the ultraman of this universe then Ryan will be Superman .
I hope a new Superman is born with this
I sure hope Ryan doesnt laser a random nurse and then laser Grace Mallory out of anger in the next episode...
If you know...
tbf, even if it happens we don't know the full context
2:35 he looks so proud
Heres my theory. Ryan becomes this worlds version of a true Superman . He'll defeat homelander, and the supers that still support vought will be this worlds super villains that he fights to protect this world. The few heros that are innocent or defect from vought will get to have a chance at being real heros while the villain now have to feed their addictions and evil temptation without vought safety net.
Ryan is gonna go berserk when he finds out about what homelander “did” to Becca
Ryan slowly turning on him now is gonna be the last thing to sever Homelander's sanity and restraint and set him on a wild rampage. At this point, I wouldn't put it past Homelander go tell Ryan the truth of how he was conceived purely out of spite.
Ryan dying first episode of season 5 would really be an acceleration to the ending
I'd hate that tbh
