    Hi Alisa. I am loving this series. Even though I have been able to sew since I was young, I always just followed the pattern. Since taking up sewing again I am learning from this community about adjusting patterns for me and you have been a huge part of that. Thank you.

    What I love about your method is that it isn't exactly a sloper, but it's giving you the beginnings of understanding to be able to create something the same way a sloper does. A "simplified sloper" if you will. The exciting part of sewing is the creativity, and with your method we can get right to that creative part faster!
    Sewing from a pattern is always problematic for me, because my body isn't standard so nothing ever fits, and I have trouble understanding how/where to adjust things. Starting with your method, though, I'm almost guaranteed something that will be wearable right from the first, and I'm building skills that will progress into more and more complicated garments, like the standard tee, and the raglan you showed us. You've shown us hem variations, neckline variations with keyholes, sleeve variations, and how fabric choices affect a garment's impact. These are great expansions on the basic concept! I feel like I'm getting smarter all the time!

    You are so good for taking note of what commentators have said and addressing those issues. I noticed you had done that in the one after the linen top tutorial. On a different note, I just noticed you say "iron" like I used to. eye run' as apposed to 'eye urn' . I changed it because of people teasing me but now i like that it's different. :D

    Thanks for this tutorial. It’s giving me the confidence to draft my own patterns and this top is a really cute one. The instructions in this video are very clear and helpful. 😊
    I just wanted to say that with woven fabrics, if they’re thin enough I always do French seams. It makes me feel that they’re more safely protected and they look pretty. They’re actually really easy once you get your head around it. If the fabric is quite thick I use bias binding (tape). I’ve only just started using an overlocker (serger) after sewing for over a year and I still prefer the method I’ve been sewing all along.
    Edited to add that I would also stay stitch the neckline to prevent it from stretching.

    • @peggyr9623
      @peggyr9623 Před 4 lety

      I prefer french seams on this type of material as well. I use them as much as possible. I use woven fabrics mostly, so it is easy to french seam them. I use a Hong Kong finish on knit edges. That works best for me. I don't own a serger, otherwise I would use that on the knits.
