  • J.D. Salinger. Today we hear the story of Teddy, an exceptionally intelligent 10 year old boy aboard a luxury cruise ship with his socialite parents, little sister Booper, and an older fellow passenger Bob Nicholson, who wishes to learn from Teddy of his knowledge concerning finite dimensions and reaching illumination.

Thank you. This is my favorite of Salinger’s short stories. One of his best.

@@nicolas19975 Cool. That would be a first. Currently reading Seymour an Introduction again. Read something that Salinger felt his best work was Hapworth 16. They would be an interesting one to hear done.

All of Nine Stories is definitely on my to-do list for reciting, to have the full collection finished. So is Franny and Zooey, bigger project, since it’s a novella’s length. I considered reciting Raise High the Roof Beam Carpenters and Seymour and Introduction, too.

De Daumier Smith’s Blue Period, (out the short stories). Then, if I had to pick between the novellas, it’d be Franny and Zooey.

Not quite as poignant as I remembered . But a good story None the less. I think I read it when I was just learning.

Thanks sm for this audio book man, had to write an essay comparing all the nine stories. I hate reading since I often drift into my thoughts so I like to have audio running while I read it. You were the only one I was able to find to so an audiobook on this.

This story is so good in so many ways, that I hesitate to comment on it. It’s setting is perfect and the character of Teddy is a true wonder. Salingers short stories are so excellently crafted that it’s almost uncanny. Thank you for posting. I wonder what you think about these works.❤❤❤

Very much appreciate you making Salinger's fabulous stories available--I've listened to them all). In friendship and a respecter of words, I must say you mispronounce words too often.

@@nicolas19975 It was Franny and Zooey. I was watching a movie called Carrie Pilby. She said this was her favorite book. I guess I was interested enough in the character to look up her favorite book.
