- THE SIMPLE FACTS: A Dinner With NICK and ROGER
ROGER WATERS THE WALL will be presented around the globe for one night only, in thousands of selected cinemas on the evening of September 29th 2015.
Following the feature presentation, there will be a unique encore:
Your chance to ask your questions to ROGER WATERS and NICK MASON.
The PINK FLOYD rhythm section will reunite over the breaking of bread and the answering of questions sent in by you, the fans. ROGER WATERS and NICK MASON, two of the original members of Pink Floyd, will convene for what is sure to be a memorable reunion. In the hopes of having a few laughs, and, in response to your questions, they will rummage through the overstuffed cupboard of skeletons and faulty recollections, hopefully using the opportunity to clear up some of the mysteries before old Father Time, and Davy Jones Locker claim their due, and All That You Touch and All That You See, slides ungentle, into that dark night.
Maybe for the last time, straight from the horse’s mouth, from the engine room, from the endless toil of stoking the great boilers, leaning weary on their shovels, THE RHYTHM SECTION, their faces grimed with coal dust, lined but open, mopping their honest brows with colorful kerchiefs. NICK and ROGER bring you…..
THE SIMPLE FACTS! - Hudba
Nick seems like the kind of guy who gets along with everyone. And when you think about it, he's the only constant member of the Floyd from its founding to the present day.
Its' called being a drummer and knowing where your bread is buttered. There are only so many Don Henley's and Neil Peart's in the world.
Matt Smith . Exactly....you can definitely see the respect that Nick has for Roger. Nick just wants to play the drums and get along. What a great guy.
Nick Mason, “The Ships Cook”
He's the Ringo of PF (as in - he got on with everyone, while the others were fighting)

When Nick says, "I fear dying." Hearing that statement from somone in their mid 70's hits me in such a deep way. Your ticket could get punched at any given time.
me too..not just Nick , i have someone close to me 71 years old,l he is like my grandfather even tho he is not...when he talks to me about death , i can feel something..A certain feeling he has , that you cannot have and understand unless you are at this age..like if he is at the final door , almost waiting without knowing when..The feeling that you lived your life..The bigger part is behind and not after..You did your things , you made your place and left your marks and this journey is coming to an end and you cannot escape it....the fact that all of this , this whole life and universe , you are about to leave behind , for the ultimate and final destination that everyone fears and want to forget..I sometime get emanations of what he feels , and it always hits me so deep...Like a one time emotion that you cannot feel without being at the doorstep of death. It must be a profound feeling.
Even yours or mine
Why should I be frightened of dying? ....There’s no reason for it. You’ve got ta go sum tyme
Your ticket could get punched at any given time is a very good metaphor.
I hope they do mine like the kids’ tickets in the Polar Express so it’s at least interesting.
There's a deep, unspoken wound in Pink Floyd that never healed.
I agree. Well said.
Its a shame Roger became so self-absorbed, Once the first episode of him going bananas had passed, it was too late and from then on he had to maintain his attempts of power over all and it just made it worse.
Gilmour remains humble yet assertive in his attitude but deeply regretful of Waters loss of sensibility.
And as we can see Roger avoids to answer such questions about it.
Cocaine problems and a control problem with Roger just couldn’t be resolved in time to salvage their careers together
They are British, they have it that way on purpose
Huh? They have WHAT, on WHAT way on purpose?
In the "divorce" of Roger and Dave, Nick is the kid. And both of them seem to love him.
and rick of course
@@billyjones4309 Roger didn't like Rick he got him fired on the wall.
@@123612100 Rick left from the wall he wasn’t fired, so i think of Rick as the more rebellious teenager in the pink floyd family with Roger as the dad, Dave as the mum and Nick as the adorable obedient younger son. I’m pretty sure Rick and Roger had made amends before Rick died.
@@billyjones4309
I wouldn't be suprised if Richard disliked Roger more than David.
Rick said in an interview
He didn't particularly care for Roger
At same time
Loved and respected him
He just dosen't miss him
Lol
But everyone
Had fun, and was proud of the 08 reunion show
Even David has articles and advertisement posters hanging in his
Studio house boat
Love how Roger says David won't tour with him. David says Roger won't tour with him. They ought to reconcile before another dies
David won't do it without Rick...that's the absolute bottom line. He has said repeatedly that it would not be right. And i agree with him.
"won't do it without Rick" David and Roger performed together without Rick for charity in 2010. _Very_ well, too. David doesn't keep his stories straight, but he can do whatever he wants with the rest of his life and shouldn't have to justify that to us anyway.
Yes David guested with Roger at the 02 arena in 2010 but that is a lot different to a full blown Pink Floyd reunion. That is what David has said won't happen without Rick.
I wasn't referring to the O2. Dave played Pink Floyd music with Roger on July 10, 2010 for a children's charity: "Another Brick," "Wish," etc. It sounded genuinely like Pink Floyd, and genuinely terrific, and Rick was dead. The idea that that was morally "right" but in contrast more shows in a row would somehow be morally "wrong" is silly.
Dave doesn't feel like touring with Roger. Dave's "A New Machine" didn't have Rick on it. Or Nick. (Or Roger or Syd.) And he put it out as by Pink Floyd -- because he would never do something like that because it's _wrong_, unless it happened to coincide with what he felt like doing, which that time it did.
Well you can argue with Dave if you like. I'm just going on what he has said re: a full on "reunion." If that changes well....
"That's what Syd said" - the most beautiful part of the entire conversation
And perhaps the most candid and genuinely happy response given by Roger. The way his eyes light up when he talks about Syd (minus all the schizophrenia talk he's done throughout the years) you can tell that he has very fond memories of his former friend.
He said he doesn't have any regrets, but personally, I think Roger very much regrets not being there more for Syd and obviously for how he handled things with Rick, which ultimately led to the demise of the most prolific ensemble of 'The Floyd.' As for "Which One Was Pink," Well, Syd was Pink. Roger and then later, David, only stepped in to fill his shoes once he left this plane of consciousness behind.
NXS Productions I bet he regrets Atom Heart Mother
@@NXSProductions yeah, you can hear the regret in a lot of his interviews
Actually it was Roger who said they liked the music loud. But I guess over time he simply got things mixed up a little. Still good to see him happy though
@@NXSProductions the regret thing is very true. You can see it in his eyes when he talks about Syd
Nick Mason seems to be the only one in the world who can deal with Roger's silliness and ego with a joke and a smile.
I have a counter argument. Roger Waters seems to be the only one in the world who can deal with Nick Mason's silliness, and lack of any ego, with a joke and a smile.
When was the last time our beloved petrol-headed Nickey addressed the UN on the subject of humanitarianism?
You can see Nick is sort of jokingly angry at Roger for everything that happened when Roger left.
"What's your favorite song from The Wall?"
"Comfortably Numb, because it was a cooperation" - Nick
Hahahaha, love it!
8:45 that’s my question nick mason reads & I still can’t believe it to this day that my idols read my card. when he read it I almost had a heart attack in the movie theater. It was the most surreal moment ever. Thank you Roger & Nick for picking my question to be in the film you made a huge Floyd fan forever happy & Grateful!!

Where did you post the question?
Pretty cool!
Joseph Guzman Rogers website a while back
MichaelKingsfordGray I make music, this is my artist name. I promise you that’s my question lol
That’s so cool! One of my questions was put to Nick in the Early Years Unboxing Question thing back in November, so I know a little bit of how exciting it feels.
"do you regret any of your actions in pink floyd?"
roger: absolutely not, nothing
Nick: genuinely baffled that he doesn't regret any of his behaviour even decades later
It means they have discussed this in private many times. Their version is not to be shared publicly.
It means he absolutely does and made a joke about it
Nick ~ "No comment" .....speaks volumes
Roger: *takes big ass sip of wine*
Roger: 😎
"This is fun, isn't it?"
"Yeah."
( ._.) (._. )
'Getting me out of the house'...Nicks best reason on Floyd ever doing a tour or record. What a lovely man he is.
Leavebutdontleaveme Nick is the real hero of Floyd.
Immersion, early years and I suspect endless ricer all happened because of him.
A terrorifiyingly smart man! Lol
It killed me when I saw him say that. He wasn’t joking. David goes off and tours the world, Roger goes off and tours the world... both have totally left Mason out. It is like he lost an arm. He went from selling out arenas around the world to being totally left behind. It’s tragic and happens to far to many amazing drummers.
@@dmstewart66 Nick just announced the world tour and he got permission from both David and Roger to use old Pink Floyd songs!
@@aleksandravseyev9462 he didn't get permission though. It's his songs as well.
@@dmstewart66 and it's true. As soon as Roger started getting a power trip, all of the juicy drum solos and fun drum parts vanished. Even when David took control in the 1980s, he was all about the guitar, and all of the other instruments faded into the background. Both of these guys left Nick and Richard behind....they were so focused with battling each other, they forgot the group had four members, and not two.
Very slow service in this restaurant.
the shared smile between roger and nick when roger said “that’s what syd said!” made me so sad and so happy
Although it's not true. It actually is what *Roger* said.
You can find this particular interview from 1967 here on CZcams.
@@clairvoyantmole8668 Good catch. I recall watching the clip when Syd and Roger were interviewed by Hans Keller and I'm surprised that Roger thought Syd had said it when it was actually himself. Mind you, it was a long time ago.....
@@kyodoconsultingtraining967 It was a long time ago and Roger is in his 70s. To be fair though, Syd was sitting next to Rogeer during that Hans Keller interview and Syd was in agreement with Roger, so in a way, one can argue that Syd did say that. Syd may not have said the words "Because that's the way we like it", but Syd did acknowledge his agreement with Roger
12:09 Nick's expression says it all. Sure Roger has regrets but he's not gonna talk about it openly
Firing Rick could be one.
@@andreaschlapek780 also possibly how he handled Syd's detioration
18:16 "Did you manage to tear down your personal wall?"
Roger: Some of them...
Nick: Yeah...some of them...no all..

It's just sad.
I imagine Roger and David never going to forget each other, and when one of them dies, the other will feel a lot of pain and guilt for not having the chance to say goodbye or fix the things.
I hope some day they realize that.
Oh my god yes! Especially after Roger's ridiculous youtube rant

When Nick says "I fear dying" instantly came to my head "The Great Gig In the Sky".
There's no reason for it. Ya gotta go some tyme
This was really uplifting. Dry humour of two blokes and lot of caring between them.
Tomi V lmao You are right. Many people overlook the English dry sense of humor. I don't think they were being too serious. With that being said, Roger still seems arrogant, and Mason still holds be resentful :P Both gents are geniuses, though.
nick mason looks like one of my old physics professors... looks like any bloke on the street, would be hard for anyone who doesn't know him to believe he's one of the all time savages on drums.
Savage????really. Passionate, precise, discretionary and graceful....SAVAGE....no. I don't think they have a single song over a 120 tempo.
Speed alone, doth not savagery make. I love watching Nick in the Pompeii movie. He's a joy to behold, and might be describable as savage. And this little movie was great. I want the unexpurgated version.
If not savage...appropriate. I can't imagine any other drummer on all their great albums.
Pils Nrimgaard hes a savage beast monster, in his own polite way
It would be hard for anyone who doesn't know who he is to believe he was in a world famous rock band! He looks like a maths teacher.
For those of you who aren't English, this is how you know two people in England are really good friends, they constantly take the piss out of each other, like Roger and Nick are doing here.
Greg Williams really ??
yes really, when we grew up in England, persecution and banter are compulsory, but it helps us as we get older
This is know as "Bantz", to use current vernacular.
Greg Williams this is a thing in a lot of countries
People do this everywhere...
Someone should have sent in:
“Dear Nick,

Nick Mason, the coolest Drummer on earth.
10:59 the sigh after “what do you miss most about each other”. Lot of memories
I’ll accept David and roger not performing together, if they do a sit down q&a like this one.
Nick looks really happy to do this
80sOGRE no he most definitely does not
haha i love that look on his face just after Roger says " well would you like to go first ? " LOL
Nick never looks happy period
@@davidshakespeare2408 agreed, except when he's playing with his old band mates.
Waters to Mason. "You're not a musican, you're a drummer." LOL 15:15
9:56 Roger still has that killer voice...
Of course there are 19 year old fans... this music is timeless, it will continue to find an audience and already has, through multiple generations now. Love or hate their music, it's not going away any time soon. They created art that has become ageless and has stood up to time. They've every right to feel pride in their work. This was art that mattered. Maybe I should say 'is' not 'was'... Roger just put out a great album and is on tour as I type this. Someone call Nick, get him out of the house.
the personal wall question had me close to tears..
time heals all wounds, but time also runs out..
these guys need to reconnect
"So you don't regret anything? Across the board?"
"No"
Eye roll
Its about the only time I've genuinely seen Roger laugh and its a natural laugh, which tells me these guys are great mates. Feel sorry for Nick as he is asked about Dave being enemies or friends as clearly Mason has no enemies yet Dave and Rogers past will always have some tension. Roger is a complex character but you get what you see - and I rate his passion and also his humble admission he may have reacted badly back in '84. In saying this, it must have been tough to stomach at the time. Either way, great songs that will live on forever both us oldies and the 19 year olds that wrote to them!
So much fun.
Ya gotta read Nick's book "Inside Out".
Deep insights... and the dude is hilarious !

Great to watch these two together. There is so much history and not all of it was good. They know it, they've moved past it but it still resonates. I think these guys truly care for each other even though Rogers ego got the best of him a while back.
I don't think it's as simple as blaming it all on Rogers' ego. I mean, he was, in effect, the captain of the ship; the main
creative force in the band by far. If it wasn't for his writing and conceptual ideas, Pink Floyd would probably have
been forgotten after Ummagumma.
That said, when you have a band with 4 egos in it, and not just one, there's bound to be feelings of jealousy
and creative differences. And I can understand that each one of them felt like they had things to contribute
but were being overshadowed by Waters' genius talent. That's not an easy pill to swallow when you're a young
man with talents of your own that you want to express.
Personally, however, I think whoever has the best idea gets to have their say.
And if others can top that, then great. But you really need to go with the best idea at the time.
And in the 70's, Roger just happened to continuously be the man who had the best ideas.
Don't like realizing someone else's vision? That's what solo albums are for.

I don't think there was any taking over. I too am not 100 on the facts. I agree it was always Rogers band.from beginning. From when the tea cups were formed. Two guys that I can't remember the names of were either in the band aswell as Mason and Wright, or were replaced by them. Another guy, a good friend of Roger, not sure if they were flat mates, was called klose I think who ran the show with Roger.
Syd was in a band with Gilmour then but I think joined the tea cups just before Klose moved to Australia or something like that.
Syd was Rogers school mate and so let Syd take the reins.
Syd changed the name and got them places. Syd introduced Dave to the tea cups (maybe floyd by then) and he became a member soon after name change or maybe piper atgod.
I say all this because I feel it was always Rogers band from tbe beginning. Before syd before Dave. Not sure on timing of Rick and Nicky to the tea cups.
I feel it was Syd and Roger took them to success. Dave came along and struggled to play what they were playing. A couple of albums later and Gilmour has added his own magic to pink floyd. It evolved. The sound that is. Pulling the strings rather than plucking them was down to Roger for a massive part of Floyds success. He's a creative genius.
I dont think David took over the band. I thought it was three against one. I'm not sure of those facts either. I know Rick was sacked and hired help for a while but when Roger went the other three still wanted to play as Floyd as you would expect. The court case over the name was aweful. Rogers band from beginning in his mind. But most the "sound" of Floyd over years was Gilmour and wright. That is what the majority of floyd fans love I reckon. Can understand roger bitter over the name. Tough for Roger because I think I would of been pissed off too. Done so much for the band and he probably expected them to get behind the way he wanted it more. It wasn't just Gilmour though.... Bob ezrin saying ... no I want dave to play it like this or that. Bob took a lot of control backed up by the other three. Probably for the best.... who knows.. but it was Rogers concept. Its a masterpiece regardless. I just think he was hurt that he couldn't have more things his way on his own idea.
I would be interested to hear rogers original concept
@@daddypig.5796 They were "The T-Set" among other names. Early members included Chris Dennis and Bob Klose among others like Clive Metcalfe and Keith Noble, and Juliette Gale I think who became Rick Wright's first wife.
This is so heartwarming. I just love Roger and Nick seems like such a sweet human. They really are enjoying each other’s company. This band had such an enormous influence on my life…from when I started listening in 1993 when I was 13 to today at 41 years old. I still tear up when I play certain songs. Their music was really next level. And Roger’s lyrics are from some higher dimension or something. “Mama’s gonna keep you right here under her wing, she won’t let you fly but she might let you sing…” This is just so beautiful.
I'm a 22-year-old fan stepping up to the plate.
It was nice to see roger in his element, at ease with his old friend. A massive shame Roger and David could never get past the animosity between them.
The dynamic between these two friends is incredible. Roger is provocative, but is the one who is searching for aproval. Nick puts up with it at the same time that he finds amusing the things that Roger says.
They have musically accompanied me from 11 yrs old to now 50 yrs. later, and I have enjoyed their soundtrack for a large portion of my life, and will 'til my last day. At my wake. My daughter knows to play a Pink Floyd tune. Most likely Wish You Were Here.
Stu Cazzo we’re the same age. The wall was my first album by them.
I could have written this. Same age when I discovered PF and I am now 50.
The best thing about the interview is seeing the expression of happiness that Roger gives us when he talks about oh he refers to Syd
A terrific interaction. I would love to see something similar between David and Roger after a couple glasses of wine. Both let their guards down and have a nice sit and grog.
Roger is my new hero.Speaking his mind is not pompous ,he is a genius and was behind a lot of the concepts for the best loved albums .
I guess they didn’t expect Nick to say much seeing as they didn’t give him a working microphone.
"Sense of humor." Haha!!! It was really great seeing this. Two guys ribbing each other.
I absolutely love this! As a veteran Floyd Freak 30 + years on, this tells me far more about Pink Floyd than any documentary I have seen. Roger and Nick just being themselves. Quite insightful I think.
Remember sheep parachuting from the sky at Soldier Field Chicago on Animals tour. Remains as the most amazing concert I've seen
I was there too. Do you remember when they shined the spotlights on that giant spinning pinwheel behind the stage and it reflected purple swirling lights throughout the entire stadium? It was my first concert ever. I was totally straight and sober but it still blew my mind. I wasn't even old enough to drive yet. Dad picked up me and my friends in the family station wagon afterwards. God, what an amazing kickoff to my teenage years. Thank you so much guys!
I'd seen this before but just re watched and feel compelled to say that I love this clip. It's so awkward and honest and beautiful. So much is held back by these two yet it's clear that the bond remains unbroken as tattered as it might be. The Floyd was the perfect storm and deep down even old Roger knows it took all of them to do what was done. R.I.P Rick Wright. Shine on Syd.
Lmao, Roger reminds me exactly of my Grandaddy; dry humored and proud, but lovable in that sense.
Pink Floyd has changed my life for the better since I was a teenager. It's nice to hear that the message of their music transcends time.
Im a very late commer to floyd , but wow the group is otherworldly type of talented.
Nick is a real gentleman. Roger has his issues.
I rewinded bits of this about 23 times to fully absorb what they said. I LOVE THESE GUYS
What a tease. I could listen too these guys for hours.

THIS WAS EXCELLENT! Thanks for posting this, and the way you handled reunion talk, David, etc., was excellent. People assume there's long standing angst, but we all move past those things in life and settle with, "we've drifted apart" , which is what happens.
This was so wholesome, I loved it
Nick Mason is a gentleman. I thought it was interesting that after Nick asked the first set of questions and let Roger answer each one, Roger was to read a question about the inspiration for Comfortably Numb he quickly answered himself without giving Nick a chance to answer, about the lyrical need to bridge his story. It is well known that David had written the music and lyrical melody and brought then to the Wall sessions. We can all argue about words vs music, and which comes first, etc. But ignoring David's inspirational contribution to Comfortably Numb is juvenile.
It's lovely to see these 2 guys enjoying this and having laugh.

-Do you miss touring the world together?
- Yeah, a bit. You've been touring the world on your own, that's been lonely.
Wild...
I found that quite emotional towards the end. Wonderful band, replete with the fragility of inter-human relationships. Never to be repeated...always to be cherished...
Brilliant, made my day, could watch the two of them all day. Yes there's still that wee bit of tension there but there's also a much deeper admiration and understanding also there. Floyd were simply the greatest band of all time.
I imagine that John Lennon would’ve ended up like Roger Waters had he been alive today. I mean the signs were already there so no surprise. Either way I love em all. Amazing songwriters.
I'm not so sure. It sounded like John & Paul had patched things up before his murder. I think they would have gotten back together somewhere in the 80's or 90's, at least for a small reunion.
thank you. so grateful
Very enjoyable video. Could watch this all day.
Really interesting that Roger takes control from the start, even though he is no longer in the band !
It's more interesting that Nick allows him to.
Nick had exactly the same look on his face during the last reunion of the four of them when Roger was talking to him in rehearsals about something to do with his drumming. Like I like you fine but I'm just tired of how big your personality is, I'm old, mine isn't that big, never was. They've known each other about 55 years as we speak.

Superb! Thank you.
Enjoyed that, thanks for posting
I rewatched the Hans Keller interview. Apparently it was Roger who answered that question, and he said, "That's the way we like it".
It seems Roger has regrets deep down about his dispute with Dave. I think both tryed to hard to like eachother but they never connected the way Nick and Roger did or Rick and Dave. Very sad they couldn't get along.
Thank you, guys. that was beautiful
That really was a great question to end this on. But I wish there were some "deleted" scenes out there where we can see the REST of that giant stack of questions that weren't answered! Thanks for this, Nick and Roger. Always love you guys.
So interesting to see the dynamic - Waters typically full of himself and trying to control the situation, Mason resigned and trying not to roll his eyes but acknowledging the chemistry between them that is undeniable and that neither of them can really do anything about. Also interesting that Nick couldn’t bring himself to say that David Gilmour is a friend - maybe not wanting to make Roger feel uncomfortable. Not that the latter would care. What an awesome band, what a shame they couldn’t overcome their own egos in the end.
"Nick couldn’t bring himself to say that David Gilmour is a friend" Dave has kind of used Nick over the years, including financially because Nick was always from a very wealthy family, and when you combine that with Dave insulting Nick's drumming, in all seriousness, to the press, what's to like too much except the amazing guitar playing and first-rate singing.
didn’t know about all of that I must admit!
@Blind Brazilian Tex Atlantis where did you read that gilmour and nick had problems?
For the record, it was actually Roger who said, "Because we like it loud."
Peoples dont like Pink Floyd ! They Love them... Pink Floyd is immortal ...
so refreshing to see these 2 in such a relaxed and candid setting, answering questions from fans. I cant help to think how great it would be to haved created and shared so much together and reflect on that success. Its unfortunate that David and Roger dont get along later in life and there is obvious animosity there, most likely due to creative differences (ironic). But in the end the music will live on longer than they and it will leave an indelible mark on my life.

No regrets Roger? None at all? That’s unfortunate.
what an unfortunate question
He was joking.
Joseph Scott he may have been joking but you can only joke and avoid for so long until you need to address the mistakes you made. it’s for this reason pink floyd will never get back together again
"he may have been joking" No he was joking.
Joseph Scott So you are able to read Roger Waters’ mind. Fantastic. Too bad Dave, Rick, and Nick lacked this ability!
When Nick shook his head because Roger said he had no regrets, do you think Nick was thinking about Roger firing Rick Wright and bringing him in as merely a "player" on The Wall or Roger's lawsuit against his band mates?
It was a joke, in the past few years roger said many times that he was a dick with the band
"Roger firing Rick" Roger, Dave, and Nick fired Rick.
All
"David had already had plans for Rick" Where do people get this stuff
